- oskay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes, it's a trick; the series does not converge, so the sum of the series is actually an infinite number. You can start to see the flaw if you think about the result of subtracting one infinite number from another infinite number. But, it's a good enough trick to make people do a (mathematical) double take!
- dralezero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is a pretty cool trick but I think what is going on here is your just making a new equation. I see how it makes good since though, but it wont work for obvious reasons that (1 + 2 + 4....) does not ever get -1. If that isnt the reason they ask for in the article I dunno what is? Is it a trick quesiton? I doesnt look like you can do this with a diferent sum trick.
