- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What would happen if you cut your hand where the screen is?
- PacoBell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WTF? They honestly expect people to type on that dinky virtual keyboard display...using their fingers?! Back to the drawing board, folks, back to the drawing board =P
- zone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1appart from cheating, It's a cool tatoo you can turn off :/
- Guano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It'll bring cheating on tests to the next level.
- dna42fan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yea, just another way for the govt to track you
- BigBoogie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I do :)
- Linuxrocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I dont want little robots in me :(
- Dr_Chainsaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Check out "Lifetime Orgsm Count: 1,739." Would like to here how this piece of info could be useful.
- zwilliams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Invasive amounts of personal information at easy access? No thanks.
- xodex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0neat
- jarmanishere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they have orgasm spelled wrong on the hand in the picture
- sethanon87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How long until you would start getting Spam? "Buy free Viagra!" etc.. This would be cool to check email etc on the go but it would depend on how it could develop this just looks like the data is taken from the persons body as is and has no actual storage facilities, It would be interesting to see what other tech would develop from it.
- nate263, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"WTF? They honestly expect people to type on that dinky virtual keyboard display...using their fingers?! Back to the drawing board, folks, back to the drawing board =P"
They're not exactly to the point where they're thinking about the user interface, they've got a long way to go before that will need to be a topic for discussion.
I think it would be cool as long as it had no way of transmitting to the outside world. - Nicto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder if the concept thought of whether it would be backlit, maybe with bio-luminescence. Actually, it would be cool if I could make my hand just glow when I wanted it to. Would have to use my cell phone at the front door for light when I am opening the lock.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Call me when they're within 10 years of making this real.
As long as they don't turn me into Gray goo, I'll be fine ;) - achtunga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"It'll bring cheating on tests to the next level."
Maybe they wouldn't have schools by the time this is made, hence rendering cheating useless. Maybe all the knowledge will be sucked into your head.
Although, that would be kind of dumb. I'm not saying I love school and all, but it would just be stupid. There'd be no point in trying to be more successful than others, because all they'd have to do is suck more knowledge into them. It'd be like communism galore. - blhack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i really don't think this is that cool......i mean, if it was a temporary thing to put on patients in hospitals or something like that...maybe. But i personally would much rather just have a credit card sized LCD screen in my wallet or something like that.
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1so could you show porn on it while you wank?
- jarmanishere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that would suck when v 2.0 came out after you got a screen implanted into your hand
- .Steven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool!
- turdferguson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll wait until I can get an entire prosthetic body a'la ghost in the shell.
- schrags, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.nanogirl.com.nyud.net:8090/museumfuture/images/dermal.wmv
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0put it INSIDE the hand, not ON. Palm, not on the hand, wtf, no ergonomic.
- sneakerelph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0or they could have gave themselves a helping hand.... COUGH.
- blhack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0did anybody aside from me notice the 'lifetime orgasm count'? 1700ish?
SHIAT! thats like once, every three days consistantly for 25 yrs. - birdadderley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's all fun and games unitl you get a virus. (i spoof vital signs)
- warofwrath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I dont want little robots in me"
I do! Imagine never having to remember where you put your watch, palm-pilot, cellphone, etc. - notman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can picture kids cheating on tests now ;)
- aaronlidman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'd so be one of the first people to get it done.
- Midnightbrewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I second the comment: what do you do when you cut your hand there? How do the bots maintain themselves? Etc. Great concept, but there are probably a lot better alternatives that also offer more diverse functionality.
- saluki1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL... Will it run the Palm OS?
- ja450n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'll digg it, only if i can use it to navigate my iPod.
- CompIsMyRx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now on to hacking those "pixelbots" on other peoples' hands. You could make them display things like "I WILL EAT YOUR SOUL", or make fake health info like "HEART RATE: 300 BLOOD PRESSURE: 480/240".
- Hawk2064, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0YAY, just what I've always wanted to know, my Mitochondrial Count.
Unless this thing checks email, stores music, or can access digg, how many people would consider this(besides people with heart problems or Olympic swimmers who need to know lung capacity)? - greenlight2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not shaving the back of my hand for this... :P
- esourcemag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NO way in HELL is that going in me.
Now for penis enhancers... I'll let that one go in... - MannaPC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is fake. you can otally tell the hand is rendered in 3D. Sames goes for teh screen. Bogus.
- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet . . . I've always wanted to know what it's like to catch a computer virus, and feel how a computr feels when Windows crashes . . .
- markperia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice concept but i wont do any mechanical alterations in my body any time soon.
- FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0just get a better cell phone....
- wintermute0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"This is fake. you can otally tell the hand is rendered in 3D. Sames goes for teh screen. Bogus."
Pentarix beat me to the sarcasm, but I was going to throw in the "No way, this is 100% real, currently deployed technology" comment. - Leonaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wish I had this. Not only is it a geeky delight to have a freaking computer embedded into your hand, but I also see a lot of doctors and take a lot of blood tests, so on, so forth. Not only would this save me a good amount of time, but I also wouldn't have to wait for blood tests to tell me my immunoglob count (which I do have IV treatments for) and best of all, how many times I've ejaculated in my lifetime! Look, it says that was my 3,000th time! Pizza night!
- BloodShed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If they can put a display on your skin.
I would think you all so can use this to give your body the ability of camouflage (like chameleons and squids). - DansFloyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats creepy... Next is programable Tattoos!
- firefruze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That would be something awsome to have, but yeah my only fear is getting a virus and what kind of stuff that could do to me. But hey I can absolutly see biological and technical sciences converging to make that.
- see4pio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i hope those little bots don't run windows...
it would bring a whole new meaning to blue screen of death. eep - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mark of the Beast?
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sign me up!
- diecastbeatdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ah yea, saw this on engadget i think. great stuff, i've always wanted a readout of what is going on inside. would be nice to see what is needed in order to keep your system functioning properly just like admin tools on a pc. i'm all for it, but of course the injection of robots part is a bit scary.
- spyhunter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is dumb; it's total fiction. You can't just make up some weird technology, say the magic word "nanobots" and then ignore every practical engineering problem. Well, I suppose you can, but it's not worth a digg.
