- LiceHelpDotCom, on 01/09/2008, -1/+11How about food addiction? I know they probably aren't concerned with that.....but man, the rest of us westernized nations could something.

http://compbiol.plosjournals.org/perlserv/?request ... - twomeyw23334, on 01/09/2008, -2/+9How about the gene for lame Digg comments?
1/20/2009 - The date - I pray - Digg users will finally stop finding a way to incorporate some lame Bush bashing comment into every thread imaginable. - WikiEasy, on 01/09/2008, -2/+8Yeah, I think they call it lack of willpower, or laziness for short.
- twomeyw23334, on 01/09/2008, -3/+8They reversed engineered previous studies.
Actually, in all seriousness, all they did was read a bunch of other studies and compiled a list of the findings. - AlkalineOm3n, on 01/09/2008, -0/+5Masturbation isn't a drug.
- inactive, on 01/09/2008, -11/+14Have Chinese scientists discovered the gene for stupidity inside Bush supporters?
- aguitarhero, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3Ooo, I see what you did there... Political... Satire... Did you come with that all on your own?
- ultramoderate, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3It's a meta-analysis. If you look up the actual article (in gringer's link below), the authors acknowledge that. Meta-analyses are common and respected in the scientific community.
Reuters, in trying to fit this into a bite-sized article, makes it sound like researchers in China have solved the world's addiction problems. This happens all the time when media outlets use trumped-up University-provided press releases, so it's no wonder people are constantly disappointed after newspaper scientific articles get them excited. - GiantGhost, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3If you're not genetically prone, that's true. You'll get dependent, but that's not the same thing.
- sasquatchcrotch, on 01/09/2008, -2/+4An explanation for "addictive personalities"

- Blandyman, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1are you asking for one or saying this is one?
- subliminalurge, on 01/11/2008, -0/+1Personally, I didn't see the appeal the times I tried it. Some people love the stuff, though. Guess I'm just more of a depressant guy than a stimulant guy.
- MSweerts, on 01/09/2008, -4/+5or any Falun Gong prisoners
- fearlessfx, on 01/09/2008, -2/+3Iv actually been saving my really good bush bashing comment for 1/19/2009. Its going to be epic.
- monkeyrun, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1That would turn most men gay, which leads to eventual extinction of man kind.
- inactive, on 01/09/2008, -1/+2Now they must solve the harder problem of identifiying the WoW addiction gene
- dforty3, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1I hope they don't decide to take advantage of this the other way by enhancing people's addictive nature. I'm sure there are many companies out there that would like to make the masses addicted to their products.
- ordig, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1sorry wrong thread.
- brownsound00, on 01/09/2008, -1/+2how about getting rid of the genes for pr0n addiction

- ArchiSilver, on 01/09/2008, -5/+5Finally, I can do all the drugs I want without worrying about addiction!
- lead2thehead, on 01/09/2008, -3/+2Why do you people feel the need to shoe-horn your Bush bashing comments into every single thread?
- inactive, on 01/09/2008, -3/+2Legalize Chinese experts for medicinal purpose!
- LoJack, on 01/09/2008, -2/+1They borrow some from GITMO too.
- Spoomeister, on 01/09/2008, -2/+1Let me fix the description for you:
"Scientists in China have identified about 400 genes that appear to make some people more easily addicted to drugs, opening the way for more effective control of some people." - ordig, on 01/09/2008, -4/+2Sweet. Let's just hope they don't ignite the atmosphere.
- Talphin, on 01/09/2008, -3/+1Hey! Stir a little bit of anti-addiction juice in with some cocaine, and I wouldn't mind trying some. I always wondered what it would be like. I just don't want to end up giving blow jobs just so I can get the next fix... :P
- theHurricane, on 01/09/2008, -4/+1So can they help me now? lol.
- LoJack, on 01/09/2008, -5/+1They waterboard their scientists into faking the report.
China can now be our ally. - URnotheonly1, on 01/09/2008, -7/+2and it only took 1 million political prisoner deaths to find it
- lewjeff, on 01/09/2008, -9/+3Scientists in China have identified about 400 genes that appear to make some people more easily afflicted to lead poisoning.
- edvas, on 01/09/2008, -10/+3In other news, the Chinese government has rendered all political dissidents quiescent by subjecting them to gene therapy based on recent research....
- birdly, on 01/09/2008, -12/+4Well that's all well and good, but I hope those stupid scientists didn't have to hurt any cute little stem cells!
