- asdfasdf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And you believe that if Pot didn't exist, these people would be hard workers? What makes you think they wouldn't drink or smoke Crack on the job instead? You seem like the type that would blame drugs if your kid did them and dropped out of school. Maybe you should blame the kids' parents? Maybe the kids themselves?
Explain why some people can use drugs responsibly and others cannot? Obviously the problem is with the person, and not the drug. - fogbog293, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1@Imagine3
I hate to feed a troll, but you /actually/ believe that something should be illegal because when you do it at work, it makes you less productive? I would agree that for most people, smoking marijuana will destroy your ability to do anything productive on an intellectual level.... But then again, so will reading digg. I think you need to stop trolling digg and get back to work. - shmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1imagine:
you fool, those dopes at your work are losers, but for every one of them there are hundreds of thousands of people smoking and you'd have no idea - RichyFreeway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You don't like it?
Don't smoke it! - asdfasdf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"If my kids smoked weed or did any other drug I would feel that I have failed as a parent. It is a parents job to protect their children."
Exactly. If your kids drank, smoked or did any drug, it's your fault as a parent. It's not the drugs fault. Make it legal or not, the drug didn't 'cause any harm. Should we ban inhalants because they kill so many people a year? Yes. People still use inhalants (air freshner, etc) recreationally and this results in many deaths. Prohibition simply doesn't work. People want to get high and they will bypass any legal means to do it. After 4 decades of trying to get rid of drugs, I think it's time for a better aproach to the problem.
"Smoking weed does have destructive tendencies. Maybe not physically, but look at any pothead, they are less productive and from all the ones I have seen, very lazy as well as very uneducated and ignorant of everything they do."
That's the most uneducated and ignorant statement I've ever heard. Most people who use drugs are successful. You see those people who work at Wall street? Suit, tie and lots of money? Every weekend they attend a crack party. I know, because I've been to one. Special door knock, room has a red light and topless girls going around with trays full of coke lines. Who did I find here? I didn't find uneducated lazy gangster kids. I found people with suits. Top executives, bosses of fortune 500 companies, etc.. sitting around sniffing cocaine and smoking Crack/Marijuana and Tobacco.
You can't tell who does drugs and who doesn't. I have a friend who's lazy, unmotivated, uneducated and he has never drank or smoked anything in his life. If your kid is ignorant and uneducated, it's your fault as a parent. You have failed. Stop blaming anything else.
"As for drinking or other drugs while working, it is either illegal or against company policy. Therefor it does not belong at the workplace and they should be fired and throw out on their asses regardless."
Exactly. Stop blaming individual drugs for the problem. The problem is a flaw in the human brain. It's called human nature. I have friends who love to drink on the job because they like the thrill. The problem lies elsewhere, drugs or not this will always occur. Like someone said above, people abuse OTC drugs, prescription drugs (which are more dangerous than weed.) and inhalants, which you can buy from any convenience store. - Imagine3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't like it because it is hurting our company.
- Imagine3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Im actually have day off.
- mcwizard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you work somewhere that a small lack of concentration or misjudgement could cause someone harm then no one should smoke weed or drink or whatever they think they need to do to get through the day. For all you know, for those 3 pot smokers you are aware of, there could be 5 that are on some presciption meds or even otc drugs that are just as bad. But, if your job doesn't require any skill or involve any danger, then go ahead and smoke, it can spur creativity and help you find new and inovative ways to do your job.
- Imagine3, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2This writeup is absolute *****. Totally fabricated. If you believe that pot smokers are better workers, come to my work. We have 3 smokers that I know of and all they do is just sit around all day. They come in, Clock in, then go out in a car for 20 minutes to smoke. Then they come back in and stare off into space for a total combined time of at least a hour a day. That right there is 1.3 hours per person wasted. Not to mention that they work much slower than everyone else in the company doing the same jobs. That is what I call stealing from the company as well as being pathetic human beings. The only reason they don't get fired is because their manager is one of the smokers. So he does a good job covering it up and greesing the wheels so they don't get fired. Hemp, Cannabis, weed, pot, whatever you want to call it is illegal and shold be illegal. You don't like it, move to Amsterdam.
