I didn't miss a single one after I did that. We often think of the smile as being simply a mouth gesture, and so when we fake it we only worry about our mouths. But really the gesture of an entire face gesture. It's not strictly whether or not the eyes scrunch up, but if the eyes "light up" or seem to loss focus that's the real smile. The fake smilers are concentrating on their face and so there eyes remain under control, this is what gives it away.

The ones who were faking it didnt move their eyes at all, where as the ones who I thought were genuine were very expressive, blinked a bit, etc. The whole cliche about people smiling with their eyes is so true.

You will find that politicians and stars always smile but the muscles around their eyes never move. This is usually a sign of a fake smile.
