- RichPowers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19All that delicious beef...just gone...
WHHHHYYY!?!?!?! - tanxadillo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Hopefully, people will begin to believe my theory that the Sun is a vile creature and must be dealt with extreme prejudice. He has been trying to kill me since I was but a wee lad, and now that I've found shelter from the outside world, it's moving on to other victims.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14But think of the cows, man! All that beef, gone!
- aaronlidman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13also 139 people have died from heat related issues state-wide
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13What the hell are you smoking?
- TheCasablancan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7WTF are you talking about? Given, I don't like Bush either. But blaming the weather on him?
That's freaking retarded. - theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Yeah, because if algore had won his home state of Tennessee 6 years ago, this wouldn't have happened!
I'm being super cereal! - TracerBulletNPI, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Yes. Because global warming is Bush's fault along with the rest of the worlds ills.
Is it just me or it seem like Bush is the Scapegoat du-jour these days. Perhaps the mans not perfect, perhaps not the best man for the job... But it takes a lot longer than 6 years to create the problems in the world today. - UncommonSense, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Dugg for having the best closing line in the history of Digg articles:
"Cows just aren't as frisky in this kind of heat." - LucerinRed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think we should use this turn of events to revert all our textbooks to a geocentric theory. Because once we get the sun revolving around us again, then it would look like we have the upper hand yet again.
- consoneo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Time for a Dyson Sphere, huh? Yeah, I think so too.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyson_sphere - VioletArrows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I know. Shame that beef has to be cooked at at least 325F so the inside can be 160F, or else the problem could just solve itself with some barbeque sauce and an extra hour on a giant spit.
- TracerBulletNPI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So much for all those happy cows eh...
- upenox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5/me is perplexed as to why you were modded down :/

Bush pursues environmentally irresponsible agendas, tantamount to denying that global warming should be addressed. - Fotograffiti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks like happy cows don't come from California. Dead ones do though. *L*
- TheCasablancan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This sort of reminds me of a Twilight Zone Episode where the Earth was drifting closer to the sun for whatever reason. If global warming continues for the next few decades, do you think we could see mass hysteria over water?
Could be... *moves to Antarctica* - Tiabin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4FTA: "Come six months, there's nothing left but the plastic ear tags -- not even any bones or teeth."
One word: munchies. - mos6507, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I was listening to the radio the other day talking about global warming and some ***** comes on attempting to pooh pooh it by saying something like "news flash, in the summer, it gets hot". This pretty much sums up the general level of intelligence of the human species. There are narrow comfort thresholds in temperature. When the average temperature creeps up by just 1' it can have a devastating result. People just can't seem to process that.
- 3leggedHorse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2welcome to the sixth extinction!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yeah how dare you blame "the leader" you unamerican liberal!
He gave you the right to say those things and don't you forget it!
We were attacked on september 11th!
We freed millions Iraqis and built schools! - bebop717, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The stars at night are big and bright…
- stonebear, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Look deeper folks. The problem is not the heatwave, it’s industrialized agriculture; it’s not sustainable. Will the stricken dairy farms increase the dose of milk/pus/obesity producing hormone in the surviving cows to compensate for their losses? Well, they have to keep the stockholders happy somehow.
- NoNom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11. Butchers do not kill the animal. Your local grocery store has a butcher but he/she doesn't receive live animals, just the viable meat parts.
2. The cattle used for dairy are not the same ones that are used for beef.
3. Cattle that have died from heat or illness are not prime choices for beef. - blaksaga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where is Al Gore when you need him?
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1With all those birds dead, I wonder if this will actually help slow the spread of West Nile virus in California?
- lahar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@georgelogy
Those corporate farms also dump cheap grain on third world countries so their farmers can't sell their own, keeping the third world poor.
They don't practice "sustainable" production. That's just what they tell you on their websites. Local, smaller, more diverse farming practices are what make the REAL sustainable farms.
These corporate food producers very well may further stress their cows to make up for the lost production. - Fotograffiti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WTF? Cows dying from heat...payback for Bush getting elected....hmmmmm.....yeah that was stupid.
- psients, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's funny. I thought butchers killed cows.
I guess that means we'll to eat them early, or something! - georgelogy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, the heatwave finally broke in California yesterday. 20 degrees cooler is amazing!
- sixlocal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Obviously because this is just part of the natural weather cycle. Duhhh!
- yldave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1There are probably still some good parts left before they go bad.
Fire up the barbeques gentlemen! - nerdgoturd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ tanxadillo

That shirt is for you. - Wezlanator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It has been VERY hot here this summer, but its funny this article is posted on the coldest day we've had this summer.
- georgelogy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The above makes little sense. Dairy cattle are already producing the maximum amount of milk they can. Pushing already stressed cows with rBST (recombinant Bovine somatotropin) would be both foolish and counter productive. Not only would this shorten the useful lifespan of dairy herds, most milk distributers do not accept milk from herds treated with rBST.
Large corporate farms feed the nation, they know what they are doing, and practice "sustainable" production. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2well, look on the bright side, we still have Texas...
- slappyandhappy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I knew some ***** would have to drag Bush into this. Congrats.
- ActiveMatx, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2This kind of stuff scares me. Imagine if we run out of food!
What is going first?
no!
I Cant!
I need my eggos! And my Trix..... and hamburger! - XAsmodeaNX, on 10/12/2007, -21/+13And they say that there is no Global Warming...
