- inactive, on 09/10/2008, -3/+21Poor atoms, running 17 miles just to be obliterated : )
anyways, this is a good day for science - Maczimus, on 09/09/2008, -7/+21Front row seats for the "End of the World" ;)
- mrmontrose, on 09/10/2008, -1/+15Physics kicks ass
- Exekutor, on 09/10/2008, -0/+11also there's a comment on the source:
"if the lhc actually destroys the earth & this page isn't yet updated please email mike@frantic.org to receive a full refund" - comradeTJH, on 09/10/2008, -1/+9Really laughed out loud on this one :-D
- matrixbandit, on 09/10/2008, -1/+8So long and thanks for all the fish.

- connieLingus, on 09/10/2008, -0/+7so the end-of-the-earth compiler uses javascript?
i figured it would be in assembly. - m1th, on 09/10/2008, -0/+6complete schedule/specs: http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lhc-commissio ...

They've had a small problem with optics and the 2nd beam has only made it 3/4 way around. They're working on the problem. They're at .3 at the time of me typing this. Just a few things to iron out and adjust.
- SnowStorms, on 09/10/2008, -0/+5A pic from the Live Feed:
http://drzaius.ics.uci.edu/blogs/setbang/raiders_o ... - LucasVB, on 09/10/2008, -1/+6Direct link you can plug on VLC and etc.: mms://qstream-live.qbrick.com/00862live80910
- chirpygimp, on 09/10/2008, -0/+5The sample should be on it's way down to you now, Gordon
- dagnome1984, on 09/10/2008, -0/+5No, not yet. They are adjusting the beam in order to get a nice clean strike when the first collision starts in October. So we have close to another month to go before the dorks are proven wrong.
- mrwoo, on 09/10/2008, -0/+4This won't make the top topics because it's not titled "OMGWTF BLACKHOLE MACHINE DEATH BANG GOD DOOM!!?"
Still i missed most of the stream, so i'm confused about quite a lot of things they are saying. Whats the flash in the top left? Is that one of those steam bath things that let charged particles leave tracks? What does the graph show? i'm lost. :(
Anyone able to explain? - SugaryToaster, on 09/10/2008, -0/+4They're not doing any colliding today.. Just testing the beams. No chance of black hole activity today.
- brstilson, on 09/10/2008, -1/+5Finally, today is the day that all those fear-mongering ignoramuses finally look all levels of stupid when the LHC is switched on and.....nothing bad happens.

- smartguy911, on 09/10/2008, -2/+5I have no idea where to watch it live. I guess i missed out
"""Due to a huge interest for this live video feed of the LHC First Beam day, you may not be able to see the live video stream and we apologise for this.

Many thanks for your interest in CERN and the LHC! """ - SugaryToaster, on 09/10/2008, -0/+3They're not doing any colliding today, only testing the beams.. At least according to the CERN stream I am watching. No chance of a black hole today.
- smartguy911, on 09/10/2008, -2/+5holly crap isn't that like 12 AM Pacific Time, 3 AM Eastern
- SugaryToaster, on 09/10/2008, -0/+3The second beam has completed the final stretch! Both beams fully working.
- crowbarred, on 09/10/2008, -0/+3yup i can see the black hole! ... oh wait theres no feed
- rydawg09, on 09/10/2008, -2/+5It isn't called the Large Hard-on Collider for nothing!

- Ccoommer, on 09/10/2008, -1/+3We're watching history in the making.
- spaceshipsix, on 09/10/2008, -0/+1They were talking about the LHC on the radio this morning on a rock show. The hosts hardly knew what it was about and were only talking about it because of the end-of-the-world news that's been published recently.
A listener calls in and says "Wasn't this thing, the LHE or whatever, in the book Angels and Demons? How did the author know about this thing so long ago?"
Of course the hosts were completely clueless. "Oh I read that book. I don't remember that part though." - adomaindeal, on 09/10/2008, -0/+1For More Information about CERN Projects and Watch LIVE Telecast on our Blog at http://www.wigix.me FREE LIVE from CERN

- EbenieRosa, on 09/10/2008, -3/+4although people have operational safety concerns, no one is worried about this phase, when they begin 5-10 TeV collisions is when I am concerned.
