- Odweaver, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24For some reason I read this as Blue Jelly Beans kills cancer cells
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17oh great. *another* potential cancer cure that will not be developed/live up to its expectations and we'll quickly forget about.
- Narayan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13TFA: "Healthy cells will also internalize the drug-coated nanoparticles, but unlike cancer cells they will excrete the phthalocyanine."
Thus allowing the healthy cells to not be damaged and killing off cancerous cells. - Four20, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"UK researchers are employing tiny gold "nanoparticles", 1/5000th the thickness of a human hair, to deliver the chemical compound directly into cancer cells, *tearing them apart instantly*."
Niiiice - Godspeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i mean no offense to any one but to me it sounds like this topic was pulled randomly out a rabbit's ass
- Narayan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Was the rabbit wearing blue jeans?
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I could have told you all this. This is why I've been eating a pair of 501's once a week for the last 5 years... no cancer...
- TechnoGuyRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3When did the first one happen?
- Jansson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Who would have guessed freeballing was the cure for cancer?
- AMCer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Also, damn is spelled "damn"
- TechnoGuyRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The rabbit was naked, duh. How would we otherwise have pulled stuff out of its ass?
You silly man, you. - unloud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why is it that I'm always hearing about all of these great ways to kill cancer/AID/whatever, but we never see these in action? Is it just that we never hear the failure of these techniques, or is bureaucracy and greed keeping them from coming to market?
- discreet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So all of those years of writing on myself and friends in high school was beneficial... I am almost glad to be part of the pen15 club...
- unloud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have underwear on my butt cheeks......Do you?
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's nice to know I won't be developing cancer of the butt cheeks.
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My underwear habits are currently unavailable for unauthorized users.
Usually, a cocktail or three and a pair of double D's is all it takes for instant access. - MGinLV, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I ran the dam spell check..I knew that "benefitial" was wrong.......beneficial....thx.
- vap0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah but look at what this treatment does to you:
http://the-op.com/images/episode/201/tobias-get-nut_sm.jpg - NuttyAvatar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder how scientists come up with such experiments? Next time they should mix up turpentine with weed killer and some pepsi and give that a try
- TheDrunkMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Honestly, it is the media that tends to hype things.
1) A scientist makes a discovery
2) The scientist thinks up possible applications for and implications of the discovery. He or she thinks up unfeasible ways the discovery could be used to cure cancer.
3) The scientist publishes a paper in a scientific journal
4) A journalist/reporter/"senior scientific correspondent" reads the journal, misunderstands it, sees "cancer", puts out breaking news about new cancer cure to gain readers or television ratings and thus a promotion for himself (or herself)
5) Link to article posted on Digg
6) People disappointed by lack of cures despite so much progress
7) More people become cynical about science - MGinLV, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Its about time a dam chemical used on us does something good for a change.........remember red dye # 5.........or atleast it has the potential to be benefitial
- archlich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here comes another wave of do it yourself tattoo people trying to cure cancer...
- CoolSilver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Neat!
- TwwIX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ya,but can you bleach your anus with it?
Huh,i didn't think so. - etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1*Another* potential cure is better than no potential cure. Keep them coming, until one of them makes cancer a thing of the past.
- ProximaC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1No wonder my 501's have never gotten cancer...
- millyuns, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Prolly the fact that if you cure it, you can't sell drugs to prolong it.......er, um I mean chase it into remission!
Kinda puts a picture of Violet from Willy Wonka in my mind, though! - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3"Blue Jean dye kills cells"
I fixed the title for you. If it kills cancer cells, it also kills cells. Don't be fooled by the title, which makes it seem like this dye only kills cancer cells.
