- eastwood24, on 05/20/2009, -0/+47Tell your girlfriend she shouldn't play with her food.
- yocouchdigga, on 05/21/2009, -7/+32I for one, welcome our new bird overlords.
- GalacticRerun, on 05/21/2009, -1/+25It's like in Legend of Zelda when you hold a chicken by the legs and jump of a cliff and the chicken helps you "glide" gracefully to the ground.
I assume this is what his girlfriend would do. - commentposted, on 05/21/2009, -1/+24Why not just link to the actual article?
- vilago, on 05/21/2009, -0/+21you know they try to aim for that open sunroof. they probably all congratulate each other on a hit.
- mysticalone, on 05/21/2009, -1/+22Never more.
- stevensj2, on 05/21/2009, -0/+19Explain "glide" please.
I'm imagining a chicken taking a giant side-step with one leg, then smoothly pulling the other in in to join it.
I really hope this is what you meant. - Pawfoots, on 05/20/2009, -0/+19Birds are intelligent. My girlfriend lived on a farm and actually trained her chickens to do tricks. They could roll over, jump, sit, play dead, glide and cluck/crow on cue.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -1/+19Birds just *know* when I've just washed my car.
- wassim2k, on 05/21/2009, -0/+17If you've ever kept a bird as a pet you would have already known this. My canary recognized me and behaved differently around me, as opposed to strangers. It would fly to me and sit on my shoulder. It would chirp at me when I entered the room. It would get scared when strangers were around. It was awesome.

If crows can figure out how to use a vending machine, then we need to start disposing of those morons who can't operate a ticket dispenser... - Bdog2g2, on 05/21/2009, -0/+16Are you snow white?
- asgardshill, on 05/21/2009, -0/+16There is a mockingbird that hangs out in one of the trees in my front yard that makes the most perfect, dead-on imitation of a cell phone you've ever heard in your life. If you didn't know it was a bird, I guarantee you would be looking around trying to find the idiot who wasn't answering their phone. Nokia is also an ill-tempered little cuss - every cat in the neighborhood has at least one knot on their head from getting dive-bombed.

- zip000, on 05/21/2009, -0/+9Its hard too no weather dan was being intentionally funny or not.
- scooterbaga, on 05/21/2009, -0/+9Crow bombs.
- TheMachine1, on 05/21/2009, -0/+8I was at a park with my older brother and many other kids a lot of years ago when my brother started this whole, "I'm cooler, tougher, (etc.) than everyone else". At that precise moment a bird ***** all over him.
- Tmac90, on 05/20/2009, -2/+9Crows are so smart that it is kind of scary. Could be put to good use though.
- inactive, on 05/20/2009, -0/+7 It's interesting that the local birds, squirrels and rabbits appear to know me. They see me every day when the weather is nice.
- Pawfoots, on 05/21/2009, -0/+6glide is where they'd be on something high and glide down onto her arm (as chickens can't fly)

- the8thbit, on 05/21/2009, -1/+6SO SHE COULD RIDE HER CHICKENS?
***** AWESOME - crash331, on 05/21/2009, -2/+7A-well-a bird, bird, bird, b-bird's the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, well the bird is the word
A-well-a bird, bird, b-bird's the word
A-well-a don't you know about the bird?
Well, everybody knows that the bird is the word! - skintigh, on 05/21/2009, -1/+6All she ever does with my chicken is choke it.
- TheInformer, on 05/21/2009, -0/+5And what has she trained you to do?
- robbiedo, on 05/21/2009, -1/+5I wonder why humans are so arrogant? I suspect agricultural societies understand avian intelligence in ways we forget.
I live with a parrot so "aware" that it is freaky. - imronburgundy83, on 05/21/2009, -3/+7"...everybody knows that the bird is the word!"
- TFGeditor, on 05/21/2009, -2/+6Dugg down for not linking to the original Scientific American article. Blog spamming at its finest.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -1/+5Cue Hitchcock
- elementop, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3@ dhdarin: is that "bs" as in "bird @#$!"?
- bjorna, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3what's next? they start following us on twitter?
- bjames87, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2not as weary as his hunting partners are
- vilago, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2i've heard people say that bird ***** on you is lucky but i don't see how lucky it is having to scrape that white ***** off everything.
- shiftkgb, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2When my girlfriend would park her car in my drive way the local birds would give it a nice racing stripe but never mine or anyone elses, only hers.
- ethanpeirce, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2Birds know who I am???? Thats JUST what I need! *****!!!!!!!!!!
- cubicrystal, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2So chickens are birds, and they're smart, eh?.
- vilago, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2i think he was missing a couple o's and a b
- RobotBuddha, on 05/21/2009, -1/+3It seemed intuitively natural that rocks and dirt were sentient at one point. The main thing is that intuition sucks at giving an accurate picture of reality. Helping us to avoid being eaten by a lion, it's great. Analyzing the neurology of a different species, not so much.
- BoneStamp, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2I usually feel bad when this happens, but just as I finish reading this article a bird smashed into my office window. I had to laugh (the bird is fine).
- bheilig, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2"The nightingale is one species where song overlapping might play an important role, but black-capped chickadees, great *****, little blue penguins, and domestic canaries might also use this mechanism, Kunc said."
No......way..... - BoneheadFarker, on 05/21/2009, -1/+3I had the same thing happen to me. Only it wasn't a bird, it was my older sister. And she hasn't stopped ***** all over me since...
- westiegrrl, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2Would have been funny - but wrong bird.
- chrisduser, on 05/21/2009, -1/+3So long, and thanks for all the bird feed.
- akaakc, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2@ dhdarin
Hahahahaha!!!
Did his comment offend you? That seemed like an unhappy "bs". Hahaha...oh my god, that's hilarious... - TheMachine1, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2The thought occurred to me.
