- JesseJ, on 10/12/2007, -14/+54Also: Sounds like my ex having her orgasm.
- dilivion, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29I find myself wondering why does something like this belong in the science category?
- JesseJ, on 10/12/2007, -9/+32which was freaky
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -13/+34everybody knows that exorcisms are fake, well, except for those crazy religious people :P
- manvsmonster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Hm, this isn't chilling to me. I can only envision a person howling like an ass. Ha ha.
- fyngyrz, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28Because it is about psychology, which though a "soft" science, is still science. What we have here are recordings of one, or more, psychotics. Religion is simply delusion; this is what can happen to a person when the delusion slips out of day to day control in an individual and care is given over to others who share the formative notions of the victim's delusional foundation.
- drwatson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17OK, now wheres the video??
- inotocracy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Right here:
http://paranormal.about.com/library/bl_exorcism_video.htm - dilivion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16What proof is there that this is real? For all I know this is a dubbing of the Russian version of the Exorcist. The validity of a science articles is based on the credibility of the writer. Who is this guy reporting the story? He is a member of the New York ghost hunters society and holds a BA in theater and drama. Hardly the description of someone I'd call a scientist.
Also, if religion is delusion then the priests conducting the exorcism are also psychotics. Note that I am not arguing for or against religion here, I am just making conversation. I guess what psychology should really study is why so many people find this sort of thing fascinating... I mean look at how many diggs it gets.
What do you think? - drawkbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Do you believe in mythology? People long ago did. Today's religions will be mythology to the people of the future. Its all just to make us feel better about our effed up situation.
- buss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Hahaha, it sounds like some people in a room throwing the mic around, chanting, and howling. Its amazing what people will do if they have an idea of what they're supposed to do. I bet she saw an exorcism movie or read it in a book and is therefore acting this out (though not necessarily /consciously/ deceiving herself). The human mind has incredible powers of deception. Its like people who claim they've been abducted by aliens. Their brain fabricates a story similar to one they've heard about and they genuinely believe it (I'm not sure what the term is, but they subconsciously reenforce the lie so they really don't know its a lie). To them, its the absolute truth, but to the outside observer its clearly bs. This is how religions are so powerful. Tell people what they might experience, and a few of them will experience it, this then adds credibility to the initially absurd claim and more people will believe it and experience it for themselves.

http://claimid.com/buss/ - triska, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Only on the internet could you have "Some guy screaming into a microphone" considered front page news.
- drawkbox, on 10/12/2007, -11/+23There is no such thing as demons, we love to belive it so. We use our imagination and this is just a sham.
- Pentarix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12If I had to listen all that chanting, I'd probably start howling too.
- Laughingman234, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10oh my god, Its a wma.. :o
now thats...scary... - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10It would be interesting if i thought that exorcisms were real.
- eXCeSS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9'real exorcism'
does not register - Minkoff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10It's amaing that something this stupid actually made it to the front page.
- Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8And how many real exorcisms have you witnessed?
- robusteza, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8the greatest part about this comment is that it is singular.
- screensnot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"real exorcism" is an oxymoron.
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Leave him alone he's obviously Russian. Da?
- m1th, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6In soviet russia, devil exorcises you!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I think a lot of us are digging this because it's such a funny claim and audio clip, not because we believe in exorcisms or anything.
- goat77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Such foolish superstition simply does not belong on digg.
- DannySpace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5He's lying! He's not me; I'm the real me! Don't believe him!
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5SYNTAX ERROR
- robusteza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6So, basically, anyone who was scared of that should never blow into a telephone receiver, turn on the garbage disposal or play dinosaurs with a 4-year old because if you did all of those simultaneously while some dude chanted in Russian - it would sound exactly like that.
Terrifying. - reidypeidy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5agreed, the only way anyone could ever prove that exorcisms could be real is to have actual video. Even then it will be hard to prove though.
- jeffrehl, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10So...not a tech related article at all. Why does this belong on digg?
- BasouKazuma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This is OLD! I saw this a year ago. Maybe even more.
Just the audio of an 'exorcism' proves NOTHING. Anyone with even minor knowledge in sound editing could produce an audio clip like this. Hell, even i could probably whip something together on par with this audio clip.
This is to pointless to be on digg. - lancebaldwin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4weird you should mention that, being that one of those "generals" under Saddam admitted in a book he wrote that they shipped all the WMD's to Syria.
So, you must believe this is real. I don't know if it is, but I'm not saying it can't be. - m1th, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's tech related because they used a microphone to record the audio, silly!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5not going to listen to it, i'm just not in the mood today....
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5haven't you seen Constantine?

damn.. - DannySpace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Listen to it again and imagine Fat Albert on a toilet; constipated and trying his hardest to pinch that first loaf. It will bring tears to your eyes.
- Norseman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That sounded like *****. This is lame.
- DannySpace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"I'm not a real pastor, but I play one on the internet."
- bugsy187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4yes, this is "real" in the sense that the easter bunny is ''real" and santa clause is "real".
also, this is not tech. news, it's tabloid news. who else is in favor of nixing this story? - krum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow I can make my Kurzweil synthesizer make the exact same sounds!
I'm disappointed that I lost my playlist over it. - VaKo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That must have been one boring sunday service...
- Julz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4yeah just a bunch of people chanting into a microphone........ i really dont no if you could call this " tech related news"
- rolosworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hope this kind of stuff is used on the next Resident Evil or Quake :-D
- Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@adml shake
That's some funny *****. Imagine a video with alternate takes of this chick screaming, Ballmer wailing, and Howard Dean yipping away. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3A "real" exorcism? WTF is that suppose to mean, did they turn atheist or something?
- Settra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wha? exorcisms are real now? oh, wait..
- JesseJ, on 10/12/2007, -13/+15Yeah this actually is REAL. As proven by the same defence US team that found the REAL weapons of mass distraction. The actual sounds of satan are present (tm). Ofcourse you cannot copy the sounds of satan courtecy of Sony records company.
