- orangester, on 10/10/2007, -9/+351Wait, that's a paradox. If God told you to be an athiest that would mean...
/head explodes - tehpwnerofn00bs, on 10/10/2007, -31/+238God made me digg this.
- xcbxcb, on 10/10/2007, -9/+212If one of your reasons for being an Atheist is the abundance of clever bumper stickers, you're doing it wrong.
- nullx42, on 10/10/2007, -29/+162"There is no god, therefore your atheism doesn't exist." and with that sentence alone, the bumper sticker promptly vanishes in to a puff of logic along with the idiot who made it.
- nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -7/+127because it's a ***** joke, that's why.
- espek, on 10/10/2007, -11/+89I hate the way atheists want to turn themselves into Atheists.
- Bartboy919, on 10/10/2007, -2/+76rAmen
- ShadySpace, on 10/10/2007, -3/+77God made you humorless.
- thekaempfer, on 10/10/2007, -5/+65Humor is beyond you, apparently.
- nonchai, on 10/10/2007, -6/+56i think it has something to do with the belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree. I just hope all these skeptics realize that they'd better accept God's unconditional love before he tortures them forever.
( a fab quote i heard somewhere else on digg ) - gab00n, on 10/10/2007, -13/+60Who is this "God" you speak of?
- apswartz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+43Hmmm.... this would seem to make you a Calvinist, not an atheist.
- b3owulf, on 10/10/2007, -13/+54This is dumb.
- TheWorm, on 10/10/2007, -7/+47As an atheist I don't go around and tell people why they should become atheists because that is my biggest problem with christians. There are many roads to happiness in my book, don't tell people how to take theirs.
- Rodman930, on 10/10/2007, -2/+41God made me login to digg you up.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+42"Born just fine the first time"
- Nowheredan, on 10/10/2007, -7/+43Yes, just like he made all the priests gay to test their faith. God's kind of a dick.
- mmcgrath, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37I've always liked a quote from Cowboy Bebop "Brain Scratch" - Tell me, why do you think people believe in God? Because they want to. It's not easy living in such an ugly and corrupt world. There is no certainty and nothing to hope for. People are lost, so they reach out. Don't you get it? God didn't create humans. No, it's humans who created God.
- stevealford, on 10/10/2007, -7/+40Irony and humor about religion are lost on most American theists, so unfortunately this bumper sticker really says "All fundamentalists are welcome to scratch me off and ruin this car's paintjob, have a nice day."
- ThndrShk2k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+33Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this:
"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves that you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. Q.E.D."
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.
"Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.
~HGttG (Source: Wikipedia::Babel fish) - capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33actually as a fellow agnostic we refrain from acknowledging if humor does or does not exist. However, as a skeptic I can't be certain what I just said was true.
- Loonacy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+32I capitalize Zeus and Santa Claus. Just because they're made up doesn't mean you don't capitalize their name.
- themanmachine, on 10/10/2007, -6/+32god made you an atheist to test your faith... lol jk. but i imagine that would be the typical evangelical response.
- Zarokima, on 10/10/2007, -17/+42Atheism is the belief that there is no god. If there is no god then atheism exists as truth. If there is a god, atheism exists as a lie. Until either is proven, atheism exists as one of many beliefs.
- Ebacherville, on 10/10/2007, -8/+31Yes, its funny that god made all life on earth yet he mad atheists, Muslims, Scientoligists, and every other type of religion from romans beliefs in many gods as well as the Egyptians.. Thats what doesn't make sense about all religion... makes more sense that humans make up religion and there is no god.
- 80hd, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25Will you blend?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -14/+36Jesus save me from your followers!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -15/+36There is no God.
- HerrEisenheim, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23God didn't make me. My parents did. They ***** one night without a rubber and BAM.
- jopjop, on 10/10/2007, -9/+30If God made me in his own image then he's an atheist too.
- HBNDonut, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21Dugg for using Jesus Christ's name in vain despite your message.
- Nowheredan, on 10/10/2007, -11/+30Before anyone criticizes any atheist for mocking the Jesus lovers in this thread, I'd just like to ask what the hell are the Jesus lovers doing in here? They're here specifically to pick a fight because they don't think it's funny that atheists should make a bumper sticker telling them to stop telling us to believe in their god. Anyone who does that is NOT the benevolent Christian who lives and lets live - these are the people that piss atheists off.
- Salviati, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21More importantly, how can you be a 'staunch agnostic'. Are you adamant that you don't know something?
- thelostemperor, on 10/10/2007, -7/+25It is also entirely possible that pink dragons live on the dark side of the moon, but I have no need to be agnostic about it. Agnosticism is senseless.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19So NOT believing in Zeus or Giant Pink Unicorns is a belief?
Non-Belief is the default position. Anyone who has never heard of or believe in God is an Atheist. That does not mean in any way an active disbelief which is what you're implying. - pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -3/+21that was the devil.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18There is no hell. It is a made up concept mixing up Bible quotes about a garbage dump outside Jerusalem and some Roman and Norse underworld myths.
- leathersleeves, on 10/10/2007, -5/+21As an atheist, one of the more attractive aspects of our non-religion is our apathy about other religions... I could care less about what other people believe, it's their own individual choice. I'm not going to go out of my way to make them change their mind about God and their spirituality, and likewise, I'm not going to ridicule them for their beliefs. Lately, I feel like people have adopted "atheism" as some ***** crusade, and by doing so, you are no better than those "crazy christians" you people are so keen on poking fun of. Jesus Christ people, grow up.
- fantasticFlan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16And who are you to question His wisdom?
- sirvincent, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17It's a bumper sticker, calm down.
- Acidictadpole, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18You'd think an all powerful supreme being wouldn't take ***** 7 days to make a tiny spot in the universe.
Also you'd think if he was all supreme there would be a _little_ more evidence that he existed, rather than a book. - ThndrShk2k, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15God made the platapus, his wisdom can be faulty sometimes
- onwardknave, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Technically, the statement "God made me" doesn't necessarily imply that this "god" thing is a conscious entity, which is part of what makes the statement amusing... One could easily say "Sugar made me diabetic," in every bit the same sense as "God made me an atheist," without the need for your head (or anyone else's) to explode. In other words, you could read it as "The concept of god made me an atheist" in one shot at disambiguation. For me, that's entirely the case. The nonsensical way in which the god-concept defines the universe, imposes arbitrary and objective morality on the world, and has no evidence to support it, did in fact make me an atheist. God did make many atheists, and continues to make many more, through the hypocrisy of its followers, lack of evidence, and inconsistent messages as people redefine a vengeful, spiteful god as a loving, caring one, because it is a concept which is ultimately more sustainable.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15lol
- RanIntoTheDevil, on 10/10/2007, -11/+25Wrong. Atheism is the lack of belief in a God.
- celticcrossfire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Actually, atheism is the default position. Everything starts in a state of non-existence. Believers claim that something (god) exists. Atheists take the default position: it dose not exist. For each claim, evidence or proof must be laid down to lend credence to it. Thus, the onus is on the believers to "prove" or "offer evidence" that said thing exists.
Therefore, I don't think the default or starting position can be a belief. (ie. Someone is innocent until proven guilty (Yes, there's the argument that in today's world it's the opposite.)) - JDove6, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13what about free will? So he made me to go to hell?
- Neiby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13It's not an oxymoron at all. Besides, according to the Bible, God makes some clay pots to make into beautiful things while he makes other clay pots that are ugly and to be discarded. So, it makes perfect sense that he might make some people atheists knowing full well that they'd go to hell for it.
At least that's what the Bible says. I don't believe a word of it. - archimago42, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15It's a fairly simple joke, not a thesis paper on religion. You must be a fun person to be around.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17There almost certainly isn't a God.
