Does everything that doesn't fit into the suburban household really have to die? It doesn't matter what variety, size, shape, or color it is, it doesn't matter if it has wings or tentacles or eyes on stalks with revolving mouthparts or whatever, it all gets the same canned response, just because it doesn't belong in a Disney movie.
I have a test I like to apply here, a test I call the "Calvin test." If Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes was looking at this picture, would he go, "Eeek! A non-cuddly creature with no big eyes, fluffy ears or soft skin? Get it away! Get it away!" Or would he go, "A death machine with giant red spikes radiating out of its back, sucker-pod legs and neon-orange body paint? Sounds... awesome. Give me a dozen."
