- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -1/+77 : ; Not to be a grammar nazi, but a semicolon should never directly follow a colon.
- ryanonfire, on 09/26/2008, -0/+39I googled 88 to see if it was some Chinese lucky number and wikipedia gives me this "88 (eighty-eight) is the natural number following 87 and preceding 89" suffice to say my mind was blown!
- bled2white, on 09/26/2008, -0/+17I took a picture of the same butterfly on a trip to the Peruvian Amazon. http://flickr.com/photos/21853860@N05/2720777985/

- Felix2Fingerz, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4you'll be alright...
- Sepeteus, on 09/26/2008, -2/+6It's right under your nose.

- speedeep, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3There is a complete series of real butterflies with numeral and letter patterns on their wings at the May Museum just southeast of Colorado Springs, CO. They've got thousands of insects, butterflies and other crawly things from around the world A great museum if you are ever in town.

- Angostura, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Very nice photo stream, where were you - the early shots look like you were in one of the chacras somewhere on the Rio Tambopata at the beginning of the dry season (I worked a resident naturalist on one of the Tambopata reserves back in 1990).
- rockstar1o9, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2This butterfly is destined to invade Europe. Only to be ravaged by a brutally cold Russian winter.

- lizberg, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2lol me too! i was so disappointed :/
- bled2white, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Thanks. I am glad you like the photos. You are right. We were on the Rio Tambopata . We stayed at the Inotawa lodge which is on the Rio Madre de Dios and the pictures are from the surrounding area. We were there mid July so yes, it was the dry season. It is an incredibly beautiful place, probably more so when you were there. It has been shrinking rapidly due to deforestation and the numbers of native species are dwindling.
- Lady_Phoenix, on 09/26/2008, -1/+3Can't help but agree with you.... definitely 89.
- crazymooose, on 09/26/2008, -1/+3Here's a real 89 butterfly:

- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -1/+3I'm reporting that butterfly to the anti defamation league! For those of you who don't know, 88 stands for HH, because H is the 8th letter of the alphabet. Code for Hile Hitler.
