- utzig, on 02/05/2009, -0/+10Bad Idea. You are just going to end up ordering that big plate of Mammoth ribs at the drive-thru and then your car is going to tip over.
- Phych, on 02/05/2009, -0/+9Put it back! We need more oil!
- LexWalk, on 02/05/2009, -13/+21Wow, that's one discovery they'll never forget? (see what I did there? Mammoths are related to elephants....and elephants have good memories...god, really you're not getting this?)
- Ysabetwordsmith, on 02/05/2009, -2/+10I love mammoths. They are fascinating creatures to study. They are also one of the more promising candidates for cloning of extinct animals.
- holzp, on 02/05/2009, -0/+8San Diego, which of course in German means a mammoth's vagina.
- crowmind, on 02/05/2009, -1/+8Clone it! So we can eat mammoth meat
- uHaveASmallDigg, on 02/05/2009, -2/+9When are they gonna bring one back to life from the DNA already?
- phyx726, on 02/05/2009, -0/+6STAMPY?!?!
- veriix, on 02/05/2009, -0/+5What was the mammoth discovery?
- WaCkYmAk, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4This made me think of Encino Man, initial reaction.
- Sol1, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4Stay classy, Mr. Mammoth!

- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+5You've posted that to 7 stories already today. Enough already!
(haha I kid, I kid) - WraTH017, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4I'm actually involved in that construction project. Very neat stuff, despite the short delay it'll cause to construction.
- satchthegreat, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3the next mammoth article i see better be about one that's just been cloned
- iagainsti, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3This is about 4 blocks from where I work...
- ANTIgen2, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2I used to work near pet co park. and I would walk past that spot every day. it was just filled with dirt, water and garbage. To think that every day I was walking past a freaking Mammoth and never knew it. That’s pretty crazy. You never know what can be hidden beneath you or anywhere for that matter. blows my mind. Plus when I was a kid I wanted to be a Paleontologists or archeologist or zoologist. I need to go back to school.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2We're sorry you had to hear about it like this.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -2/+4Is Down Town the same as downtown?
- somnus, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2No, it's a place where everyone is depressed - not to be confused with Downs Town.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2The matter in your body, from the iron in your blood to the calcium in your bones, is *billions* of years old. The atoms themselves were formed inside stars that burned out long before Earth even existed. Which is before a "year" even existed, since that's an Earth-based temporal denomination.
Now there's something to trip out on. - inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2They unearthed an ancient pun...
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2Have you considered sabotaging the bones in order to receive a promotion?
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1The article wasn't THAT horribly stupid and boring.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+2I see the lawyers still are not hurting and can build a new school to create more of them. no matter who loses. lawyers WIN!

- WraTH017, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1Sadly, I'm an desk jockey. All it means to me is i get to see exclusive pictures taken by those doing the footwork.
But yeah, I really doubt it's open to the public. Construction sites never are. - JaminKirby, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1ps I live in San Diego, its pretty sweet to go look at
- Equinamin, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1Can you like see this area or is it all cordoned off to the public.

San Diego Bath Remodeling. - monkeyfaust, on 02/06/2009, -0/+0500,000 years? Snort! God and His wacky tricks!
- jrackow, on 02/05/2009, -1/+1This makes me think of global climate change.
Level with me, here. There were shell layers found directly below, and directly above the mammoth. The article said it lived in a dry period. So, can't we take from that: Water rises and subsides in a cycle. And wouldn't we make the assumption that the reason for the water subsiding is in polar caps collecting more of the water in ice form, and then in melting periods it makes the waters rise again.
And can't we also say that if you live on a coastline, you should consider not living on a coast? And that way you won't die? Or lose your expensive home? - ArthaGuru, on 02/05/2009, -0/+0Thx for the wonderful article
- sdrawkcabton88, on 02/05/2009, -5/+5Digg is crappy today.
- peterinjapan, on 02/06/2009, -1/+1If you like John Varley sci-fi about mammoths and time-travel, this book was a mind bender:
http://www.amazon.com/Mammoth-John-Varley/dp/04410 ... - JaminKirby, on 02/05/2009, -2/+1where do they pull those numbers from? how old is it you ask? .. oh yeah.. its uh, uh.. 500,000 yrs old, I mean it has to be.
- sizers, on 02/05/2009, -1/+0Hell yeah puttin SD on the map. Wolly mammoths are sick
- chupavacas, on 02/05/2009, -3/+2Wow! I used to live a block from there.
- Squeeself, on 02/06/2009, -2/+1A construction delay half a million years in the making...Why is it that construction crews always have such poor planning?
- Bananaboy8000, on 02/05/2009, -2/+0...Here's something else that's mammoth
http://digg.com/pets_animals/The_Largest_Penis_in_ ... - Troyjinman, on 02/05/2009, -6/+3Oh we got it....your comment ("joke"?) was just really lame. But don't feel too bad, LexWalk, there are many other competent people out there that are just like yourself with lame jokes to share!
- Testies, on 02/05/2009, -5/+2He's far away from Colombia....
Wonder how he got here? Maybe a drug mule? -
