They eat an immense amount of red meat and fish and weren't subject to the same evolutionary pressures influencing skin color as many other groups of humans were. Given that some live above the Arctic Circle, you can see the biological necessity for such a diet as long periods of limited sunlight makes it impractical to use sunlight to produce Vitamin D.
