- coheedcollapse, on 11/06/2009, -4/+26This article reminds me of when I was young and used to go to church with my family. The thing that turned me off most about my religion (besides the intolerance to others) was the fact that the whole congregation believed and actually WANTED the rapture to happen. Every single week without fail the pastor would be scaring the hell out of me and my friends with threats of Jesus coming back and leaving all the unsaved behind. It was a terrifying thought for my ten year old brain.
Luckily, now I know they were just a bunch of idiots. - yocouchdigga, on 11/06/2009, -0/+18What's the next doomsday date after 2012? Is there some cult out there that's hyped on 01/13/13 yet, if not, want to start one? I bet we could sell some *****... think about it and get back to me.

2017 - The "Prophet Gabriel" supposedly told the Sword of God Brotherhood that the "dying time" will come in 2017, and only members of the cult will survive. Everyone else will "perish in hellfire."
I'll bring the marshmallows. It's gonna be one big ass camp fire. - spookyttws, on 11/06/2009, -0/+11The problem with most of these predictions is that they're based on tent pole dates in our calendar. (1666, 1999 etc) But our calendar has bee changed hundreds of times and in no way has anything to do with any "mystical" powers. Even if such supernatural power existed, I don't think it would give a ***** what date (according to our calendars) it happened at. And as I've pointed out man times before, the Mayan calendar does not predict the end of time, it simple ends in December 2012. Basically, it would be like claiming the world ends on Dec 31 (every year) according to our calendar. But I guess that means those who buy those 15 month calendars that continue into March of the following year get an extra 3 months of life.
- Supernova36, on 11/06/2009, -0/+10Are we really going to have to hear about this 2012 apocalypse for the next 3 years?
- dfross, on 11/06/2009, -1/+1010? Aren't ALL Doomsday prophecies failed by definition, given the fact we're still here?
- nachochease, on 11/06/2009, -0/+7There seems to be a trend here where if you want people to join your congregation/cult, tell them the world is ending and the only way to save themselves is to do whatever you tell them to.

- JQP123, on 11/06/2009, -1/+5How to quickly identify a failed doomsday prophesy in advance --- anything with a religious basis is most likely dead wrong..
- falconear, on 11/06/2009, -0/+4It doesn't really matter. The theoretical micro-black holes (that would be awesome to confirm because it would validate a lot of what Hawking has said) would wink in and out of existence almost instantaneously.
- superdriver, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3 @coheedcollapse Your use of profanity to make your point simply points to a lack of intelligence on your part. I'm not interested in your upbringing, I'll take your word for it. However, if you disagree with me you should counter what I say with reasoned argument and not simply insult me. All this does is prove that you're not very clever. I'm British, not American and if you'd followed my other threads you'd see that I've known lots of Muslims. Decent people all of them. One thing they had in common though was that they all refused to condemn acts of Islamic barbarism, preferring instead to seek excuses for their 'brothers'' actions. You know the sort of thing, it's America's fault/Britain's fault/Israel's fault etc. etc. All of them seem to forget that not so long ago NATO led by the US and UK went to war in the Balkans to ensure the safety of the Muslim population. Of course they conveniently forget this, which was my point about Muslims needing to give and take instead of just taking. I have no problems with Muslims living here in the UK, we have a centuries old tradition of making newcomers welcome and long may it continue. Thing is those newcomers shouldn't come here and abuse our way of life or culture. They also need to accept that sometimes other Muslims get it wrong. The moderate Muslims, and I'm sure there are millions, need to tell the exremists where to get off and assert their desire to live in peace with the rest of us. Problem is they don't, they continue to make excuses and blame others for their actions. This only gives credence to the extremists.
I was brought up in a strict Roman Catholic family. During the seventies and eighties in the UK we had almost weekly atrocities committed by the Provisional IRA, also Catholic. Not one member of my family ever uttered one word of support for these people, they were reviled by all right-minded Catholics and rightly so. Do you see the difference? Right-minded Muslims need to loudly proclaim, 'Not in my name'. I know that not all Muslims are evil and wicked, they just need to be more vociferous in their condemnation of the ones that are. - superdriver, on 11/07/2009, -1/+4@coheedcollapse. You're very fond of calling people who disagree with your view of the world an 'idiot' aren't you? You're obviously a little insecure. I don't know how old you are now but it's clear to me that your 'ten year old brain' hasn't aged much.
- JQP123, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3No those are bad too ... they just have yet to be been proven as such.

- johndi, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3Don't forget Paul who said in the Bible that people that shouldn't get married because "time is short" and if you were married you should neglect your wife. He also said there was no time for weeping, rejoicing, having possessions, or using the world (jobs and stuff) because the world was ending soon. Most Christians ingnore that bit, but I have to give the ones who claim Paul was a false prophet some credit.
- JQP123, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Paul was just echoing Jesus himself, as quoted by Mathew, Mark or Luke (take your pick)
"I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God."
-- Luke 9:27
Every wonder why the early followers of Jesus never bother writing anything down until 50 years after he was dead? They didn't think there was any need --- they thought he was coming back, based on what he had told them. Obviously they were wrong. If they were wrong about that, what else were they wrong about? - lurcherman, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2@superdriver. Hear, hear.
- Frostek, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Ideas when for when you're running a cult...
Recommendations are to either wear a lot of white, or perhaps a turtleneck sweater with a large medallion with a mystical symbol.
Say that poverty, hard-work and chastity is good for the soul, whilst arriving at the work farm to inspect your follower's daily toils in a Rolls-Royce accompanied by at least three gorgeous female "assistants". - Supernova36, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2I'm not saying I hadn't heard of it before, but its far more prominent now.
- FritoPendejo, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Non-believers disgust me!
- FrederikNS, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2But then again, the earth won't last forever. At some point there must come a doomsday, which will surely be predicted, which means that 1 of the immense sea of doomsday prophecies must be true (thought it might not have been made yet).
- lurcherman, on 11/07/2009, -1/+3Couldn't agree with you more superdriver. There are far too many of these insecure types who use the anonymity afforded by Digg to hurl abuse.
- Frostek, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2I'm making notes of the account names of these crackpots on Youtube and will see how many close their accounts when they realise they're going to be humiliated.
- graemee, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2or are they optimists?
- JQP123, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Or tell them that they will burn in hell. The only way to save themselves and live forever in contented bliss is if they agree to become good little mindless sheep and do what you say.
- Frostek, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Everything?
- FritoPendejo, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Hmm sounds familiar...
- Fustigations, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1It might happen slowly over centuries... There's no guarantee of a doomsday... maybe a doomsmellinia?
- Frostek, on 11/06/2009, -1/+2Perhaps if we bury you, you'll be safe at the bottom of a hole?
- WiseBinky79, on 11/06/2009, -3/+3The LHC test that would allow for the black hole hasn't even been done yet- so I don't know if its fair to say it didn't happen. It was delayed due to a technical error.
- Rammat2, on 11/06/2009, -1/+1It's looking more and more to me that the world WON'T end with a bang, but, with rolling out a prayer rug to keep from paying the jizyah. If you think I believe Islam is going to succeed in conquoring the world, you'd be right. And, it might even happen in your life time. Islam is going to be victorious.

Being unsupportive is not enough. The real question then and now is what's done to denounce the atrocious activity.
Does silence mean consent? There were a lot of decent Germans in the 1930's who permitted Hitler's rise to power. - yourmomsnutz, on 11/08/2009, -1/+0Tired of hearing the same old song? Over and Over? Read ON!

Mystery Of America.Time Travellers From Our Past.Tedd St. Rain.2006.2h*******
info:
To download the free ebook visit www.MysteryOfAmerica.com --- Mysterious and often inexplicable remnants of civilization's history fascinate scientists and archaeologists. People travel worldwide to visit such sites, yet some of the most enigmatic artifacts and structures have been found right here in North America. Unfortunately, because these records do not fit within accepted academic models of human history, they remain unexplained mysteries, and most people never hear of them. Long before any humans were supposed to be on this continent, unknown hands removed millions of pounds of copper from mines near Lake Superior. Or a three-foot-high adult mummy was discovered in Wyoming. Sandaled feet made footprints in rock at least 300 million years old. A human-like tooth, three times normal size, was found in coal from a Montana mine. According to modern wisdom, humans evolved on Earth no earlier than two million years ago. Yet many of these artifacts were made long before then. How can this be? Could these anomalies have been the result of an advanced civilization once present on our planet? This video-taped lecture presents evidence that there have been intelligent beings on earth long before humans are thought to have evolved here. About 1/2 way through, St. Rain shifts gears and describes the basics of his THEORY OF ALMOST EVERYTHING, fondly referred to as the GRAND UNIFIED CONSPIRACY THEORY, where he reveals the nature of the human soul, soul catchers, the interdimensional nature of reality, the reason for the arrival of extraterrestrials, intergalactic vending routes, the prime directive, extinction level events, cosmic dump trucks, Corso's time travelling aliens at roswell, time travel, time dilation, quanta, string theories; and so much more. --- Tedd St. Rain, author, lecturer, and videographer, he has traveled the world extensively investigating the world’s ancient mysteries and enigmas, actively researching the mysterious, the metaphysical and the mythical!!

2012.Jay Weidner on Coast to Coast Jan 2009.4h
info:
Filmmaker and scholar Jay Weidner spoke about 2012 and prophecy, as well as mysteries surrounding the Georgia Guidestones and the Denver Airport. A series of interrelated prophecies are all pointing toward one time period, around 2012, as being a time of crucial change, possibly connected with our sun, he said. The decreasing heliosphere of the sun leaves Earth with less of a buffer from potentially dangerous elements from outer space such as cosmic rays, he noted.
Weidner perceives 2012 as an alchemical moment for humanity to decide who or what it wants to be. On a positive note, he foresees a possibility for the populace to live in semi-rural conditions in a more slowed down fashion, yet still connected via the Internet. A more negative outcome would see society turned into a "techno-fascist nightmare" with robocops and cameras on every corner, he warned. People need to figure out how to manage in a world of increasing scarcity, he commented.
In discussing the Georgia Guidestones (see below), he doesn't interpret the commandment about maintaining the Earth's population as a call to exterminate people. Rather, he suggested the monument could be part of an alchemical mythos, helping to bring about a new consciousness. The Denver Airport appears to be connected to COG (continuity of government) with underground facilities that could withstand a nuclear war, Weidner reported. He suspects there's a gigantic tunnel system under the airport, with trains possibly running to different parts of America. Denver, he added, could be slated to become the capitol of an eventual North American Union.

Earths Magnetic field can not be more than 10,000 years old.Nuclear physicist, Dr Russell Humphreys.2003.1h4m********
info:
Nuclear physicist, Dr Russell Humphreys describes how paleomagnetic research indicates our field can not be more than 10,000 years old. Problems with the dynamo model of the earth's Magnetic Field are presented, as is the accuracy with which his model predicted magnetic strengths of other planets. You may listen online or download the file.
Dr Humphreys was awarded his Ph.D. in physics from Louisiana State University in 1972. For the next 6 years he worked in the High Voltage Laboratory of General Electric Company, designing and inventing equipment and researching high-voltage phenomena. While there, he received a U.S. patent and one of Industrial Research Magazine's IR-100 awards.
Beginning in 1979 he worked for Sandia National Laboratories (New Mexico) in nuclear physics, geophysics, pulsed-power research, and theoretical atomic and nuclear physics. In 1985, he began working with Sandia's 'Particle Beam Fusion Project', and was co-inventor of special laser-triggered 'Rimfire' high-voltage switches, now coming into wider use. The last few years at Sandia had seen greater emphasis on theoretical nuclear physics and radiation hydrodynamics in an effort to help produce the world's first lab-scale thermonuclear fusion. Besides gaining another U.S. patent, Dr Humphreys has been given two awards from Sandia, including an Award for Excellence for contributions to light ion-fusion target theory.

Dinosaur Figurines, Fact or Fraud.Dr. Patton.Ac?mbaro, Guanajuato Mexico.2008.51m*******
info:
In 1945 German archeologist, Waldemar Julsrud discovered clay figurines buried at the foot of El toro Mountain on the outskirts of Ac?mbaro, Guanajuato Mexico. Eventually over 37,000 figurines and artifacts were found. They were similar to artifacts identified with the Pre-classical Chupicuaro Culture (800BC - 200AD) found in this area. Radiocarbon and thermoluminescent testing has supported these estimates. The authenticity of the find has been challenged because the collection included dinosaurs. Many archeologists believe dinosaurs have been extinct for the past 65 million years and man's knowledge of them has been limited to the past 200 years. If man saw and modeled them 2500 years ago, this view would be falsified. Dr. Patton, together with Dr. Dennis Swift have made five trips to Ac?mbaro in order to conduct their own personal investigation. The collection had been locked away for years but access was attained. You will hear the intriguing story, evaluate the testimony of many respectable, knowledgeable eye witnesses and you will be able to view the evidence for yourself.
Dr. Patton has a broad educational background; four years at Florida College, Temple Terrace, FL; two years at Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, TN; two years at Indiana Univ.Purdue Univ., Indianapolis, IN; two years, Pacific School of Graduate Studies. He has worked as Geologist in US, Canada, Australia, England, Mexico, Peru, bolvia, Cambodia, Israel, and Jordan. Dr. Patton has participated in dinosaur excavations in Colorado, Texas, Utah, Wyoming and Canada. He is credited with excavating the longest consecutive dinosaur trail in North America, totaling 157 tracks, extending over 500 feet. He is a member of the Geological Society of America and was a speaker at their 1997 annual convention. Dr. Patton lectures at universities accross the United States. He has conducted up to twelve CreationEvolution Seminares a year for twenty five years. He has participated in numerous public debates on creationevolution including radio and TV debates. He has testified three times before Texas State Textbook Committe, Austin, TX. Presently, Dr. Patton is consulting geologist & partner in Mazada Corporation, Dallas, TX. He is a staff geologist of the Creation Evidence Museum, Glen Rose, TX, staff geologist for the Qumran Plateau excavation in Israel, an area supervisor at the City of David excavation in Jerusalem and charman of the Metroplex Institute of Origon Science.

Freedom Road.The Human Journey 7000 BC - 2012 AD.David Icke.4h

David Icke tells the astonishing story of how the world is controlled today by "royal" bloodlines seeded in the ancient world that have passed through history manipulating the human race for thousands of years. The bloodlines that were the kings and queens of the distant past are the same bloodlines that today produce the political leaders and those who control the banks, transnational corporations and our media. Using hundreds of illustrations and a fast paced often ironic narrative, David Icke explains how and why we are now racing towards a global fascist state - unless we wake up fast. He also explores the spiritual (not religious) road to freedom that may await us all and says that we can transform the world and our lives by transforming ourselves and understanding our true power to design our own destiny. What is happening? What can happen? What has happened in the past? All of these questions are explored in this thrilling shocking mind-blowing program.

Journalists of the London Daily Express investigate reports of strange phenomena occurring all over the world, such as flooding in the Sahara, unseasonable blizzards in New York, and violent tornadoes in the Soviet Union. All over England, temperatures are on the rise, girls in bikinis are everywhere, and wonderful special-effects mists are blanketing the Thames River. Top scientists at the Meteorological Center refuse to give any official explanation, which makes the newspaper editor suspicious. - coheedcollapse, on 11/07/2009, -3/+1Given the fact that I WAS one of them until was able to distance myself from them, I think I reserve the right to call people who convert others with the fear of the rapture "idiots". I went door to door with them, I participated in a "hell house" with them, and I believed everything that they said with every bit of my being.
They are mean-hearted, they are small-minded, they are idiots. I'm not calling them idiots because they disagree with me, I'm calling them idiots because I experienced first hand the fear of, as a child, thinking that every day of my life that I sinned I might wake up to an empty home because my family had been taken away by Jesus and I had been left behind.
You can generalize all you want about the type of person I am. You can pretend that I'm like this solely because I'm on the internet, you can pretend you know me, you can pretend you've lived a life like me. Thing is, you don't know anything.
I also find it hilarious that both of you replied to my comment about a weird, psychotic Xenophobic slant coming to Digg after dark and you're instantly equating that to a hatred of conservatism for some weird, twisted reason.
Thing is, I don't care about conservatives. I have plenty of level-headed conservative friends and love my family who is very conservative. I accept the arguments of those with positions opposed to mine and even support them when people rally against them (erm, like as recently as yesterday I said that it was unfair to label all republicans as corrupt since corruption goes both ways in the government).
What I do hate is ignorant people with nothing but ignorant things to say and no proof to back it up. Say, Xenophobes for example. What enraged me about the thread that you are referring to (since obviously you're basing your opinions of me on two ***** posts), is the fact that "Suspected Gunman is Identified as Muslim" garnered responses such as "A muslim name...go figure..Now is he a real muslim or one of these "black" wannabe muslim..." (That gem garnered 32 ***** thumbs up) or "Another Psycho POS Muslim" and "Yet again we see that Muslims are not to be trusted...Muslims should either accept our customs and way of life or get out of our country. (Hey, that was you superdriver. It also got 10 thumbs up, stay classy).
You have the freedom as an American to say whatever you damn well please, but I also reserve the right to call you an idiot for your narrow-minded views based on the actions of a small sect of fanatics in a religion of over a billion people.
So there, defend that. How am I wrong, childish, or simple-minded for calling a bunch of xenophobes "idiots", or are you going to just leave it at labeling me from what I said about a group of racists in one thread? - gfryesc, on 11/06/2009, -4/+1here's another failed doomsday prophecy: global warming!
