16% of US Biology Teachers are Young-Earth Creationists!!!!!

scienceblogs.com — At least 16% of our high school teachers are young earth creationists. Furthermore, 12% our our teachers are using biology classes in public schools to teach creationism in a positive light. The majority are still pro-science, but even in the good cases, relatively little time is spent on teaching evolution. God help us.

  • somnambulator, on 05/23/2008, -0/+3I began reading this article, but the frigid, arthritic hand of depression started to throttle me into unconsciousness.
    This really is depressing reading.
    There is definitely an evangelical desperation to spread this ignorance.
    What astounds me most is that these people accept other scientific laws, principles and theories that have benefited them, their health, their comfort, their entertainment, communication, food, medicine, construction, etc, etc.
    Every area of their life is possible as a result of, or improved by science. Luckily these things weren't mentioned in the bible so there is no controversy.
    But add one scientific theory (see http://www.notjustatheory.com/ ) that contradicts their religious dogma, and it's "La, la, la, fingers in my ears, I left my brain at reception for this argument." reasonably intelligent people suddenly become retarded.

    AND THEY'RE SPREADING THIS *****.....AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!.....the hand is com..i..n..g.............
