Q3A was the very best of the best in terms of online multiplayer, matched (and eventually topped) only by Counter Strike, which has a completely different feel.
Having this game free and in a browser is great. They also did some great work on their network optimization so it's actually playable over wireless.
I read the headline and said "oh it's finally out of beta" and then clicked the link and said "oh they replaced the page with an April's Fools"... which I see was the point all along.

- Jeepinator, on 04/01/2009, -0/+12It has persistent stat tracking and a dynamic skill adjustment. It is completely free because it is paid for by advertising. It's the first of a new kind of game we will be seeing a lot more of. Battlefield Heroes is another one of these types of games.
