- Permanent4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sammy's right. id created Wolfenstein, and Apogee published. id then decided to publish Doom themselves while Apogee hacked up the Wolfenstein engine to create Rise of the Triad.
Also, the Doom engine was used create a game called Heretic, and Hexen was the sequel to Heretic.
Personally, I enjoyed the Beavis and Butthead hack for Wolfenstein 3D, even though it only worked on the shareware version. In the purchased levels you had Nazis dressed in white uniforms, and the hack always crashed when one of those guys appeared... - dekcarc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just an empty black play window in Firefox 1.0.7. :-(

I loaded this up, and I was impressed at how faithful they got this game to look, and run in Flash. Having to use the arrow keys and the spacebar was really old-school, though! :)
Forget strafing, I can't play a computer game anymopre without the standard mouse/keyboard control scheme.
