If only we could make five Yahtzee clones, so I could watch a fresh game get ripped a new one before starting work every day. The fifth clone is obviously so that the real Yahtzee can continue making games.
I'm mostly inclined to agree with this review. They pretty much intentionally made a lot of the later songs in the game as hard as they possibly could, throwing in 3-button chords all over the place on expert to make songs less fun to play and more difficult to beat.
It's not that I suck at the game, but they've put more emphasis on difficulty for some songs than whether or not they're actually fun to play. Plus a lot of the songs (Before I Forget by Slipknot is a good example) that will pretty much turn your hands into bloody stumps by the time they're over because of how annoying the note charts are.
Of course, the game's also got a ton of bugs, it lacks polish, and they ruined a lot of the characters. Overall I think Guitar Hero 2 is a much better game.
Hard was way too easy with hammer-on passages that were entirely too forgiving compared to GH II. And then, a brick wall! I don't mind a game that gets really hard, but seriously, there is no curve ramping up the difficulty. I 5 starred every song on hard first try up until the last set, I went from 5 star scores to FAIL. Lame.
I loved and agreed with all Yatzee review up to date,.. but not for some things in this one. First, Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine) is waayyy better than Slash in my book. Same thing for Midori and his lost character, Midori rocks :).
Tom Morello is one of the most innovative guitarists on this planet. Sure, Slash can shred like nobody's business--so can a lot of other guitarists. No one has Morello's style or originality. Who else uses batteries and live wires (among other things) to play their guitar?
