- techotter, on 04/02/2008, -5/+144So, who's going to be the first one on YouTube playing Gears of War and Splinter Cell at the same time?
- frogman54, on 04/02/2008, -10/+149So if they make a sequel to this game, will it be called Army of 2 2?
- Doomsan, on 04/02/2008, -17/+85Finally something to take me out of the boredom of work!
- musntSurfatWork, on 04/02/2008, -4/+68I'd rather go with Army of Two and a Half Men.
- TheHayze, on 04/02/2008, -24/+83You know, it's kinda funny (no, I don't mean Yahtzee, because he's more then just kinda funny), I, a normal gamer, could have easily told everyone that Army of Two looked like it was gonna be a crap game even without buying or playing it. From the previews alone, I had came to a conclusion that the game was going to be either for A. 14 year old boys who play too much CSS, or B. Frat boys with too much money to know what to do with. But for the rest of us, it didn't seem like it was going to add ANYTHING to the FPS genre. Though certainly not like most FPS add anything these days it seems. At least not until we get more a glimpse of Far Cry 2, and i'm rather hoping it won't mirror Far Cry 1, and Crysis. But that's another opinion for another story whence it comes about. My 2 cents on the whole issue. Take it as you will.
- LithiumPower, on 04/02/2008, -23/+82"a burn becomes doubly funny when you imply that the subject likes it rough from men with hairy bums" - Priceless.
- TheHayze, on 04/02/2008, -3/+47Normally, a paragraph is denoted as 5-8 sentences. I admit I stretched it all the way to 8, but it's not like a giant wall of text that SO BLOODY HARD TO READ, you need to say something about it.
- Schmidtopolis, on 04/02/2008, -7/+46Army of 2 added one thing to the FPS genre... a 3rd person perspective.
- inactive, on 04/02/2008, -11/+44so let me get this straight
this game depicts private mercenaries who eventually turn on american citizens?
where have i heard this scenario before? - batista86, on 04/02/2008, -25/+54Give yourself a salt water douche, because you are officially a *****.
- xtmno3, on 04/02/2008, -1/+24I don't know about those two games specifically, but in case you didn't know, someone has played Megaman X and X2 at the same time (one controller to control both at once).

- inactive, on 04/02/2008, -5/+25that's what she said
- emomakesmecry, on 04/02/2008, -3/+22You've never heard of Army of Two?... You definitely haven't visited gamespot recently and seen the utterly annoying ads the past few weeks.
- fyrehart, on 04/02/2008, -1/+20You say that after watching Zero Punctuation who seems to not... use... punctuation...?
- ch4os1337, on 04/02/2008, -0/+16He was Joking! FPS stands for First Person Shooter. Not frames per second or... floppy penis syndrome.
- yohnstoppable, on 04/02/2008, -0/+16Army of 2^2
- BlueSkyfish, on 04/02/2008, -1/+15Smash Bros
Not until June in Australia
Rock Band
Not until September in Australia
He sis show interest in No More Heroes a few weeks ago, and that just came out in Australia. Australia sucks. - LordofChaosIori, on 04/02/2008, -0/+14It's a tough job translating English into Australian.
- SwedishNinja, on 04/02/2008, -0/+11I'm gonna save these hostages...
...or die tryin'. - cthellis, on 04/02/2008, -1/+12Indeed you are.
- postalblowfish7, on 04/02/2008, -0/+10Shooters in general can't really be explored much more then they already have. Games like Bioshock and Killer 7 may push the genre to a higher level, but anything revolving around mercenaries or army men are just going to be basic combat sims, no matter how much you dress it up as an innovative title. This, I feel, is the problem with Halo as well. Ok, more alien shooting... really? That's it?
- Ghostsfp, on 04/02/2008, -2/+12No
:SPOILERS:
Near the end of the game, one of your fellow mercenaries (An american) and his cronies attack you. You have to kill them. You don't turn on US citizens - Swarms, on 04/02/2008, -4/+14I only played with a human co-op partner, not an NPC, but everything he said is right. The whole "two" thing was more of a gimmick than a feature. To open the door you have to press the button...no, no, wait.....two buttons. Why? Because there's another person playing.
Everytime there's a need for "boosties", lifting your partner up to a ledge, there's bad guys at the top waiting to shoot you. He's now playing alone, since you can't get up to help until he can turn around and give you a hand. If he does that before killing them, he gets shot in the back while lifting you up.
I liked that there was a way to upgrade weapons in the store, but they didn't seem to do much. I didn't notice a real increase even with a $75k gun, and why would I waste another $10k to "pimp" it? I don't remember ever seeing the gun much really anyway, so what's the point?
That being said, I still played through to the end. It's not a bad game, it just offers absolutely nothing new to the FPS genre. - chillypacman, on 04/02/2008, -0/+9It's called 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand
- Grym11, on 04/02/2008, -0/+9You know, I seriously disagree. There's a lot of places that modern shooting games haven't even dared to go that I personally would love to play.
Why is it that only a few games expect players to have a clue about fire-team tactics? The only one I can think of off-hand is Rainbow Six which makes the entire process pure drudgery because you have to pre-plan EVERY tiny aspect of the mission. I'm sorry but that just isn't fun despite the fact that it COULD be if it were *more* realistic in that there is a place for improvisation. No, what I want to see are games where you have to do an improvised leap-frogging retreat with your other squadmates when things get bollocks'ed up instead of a huge GAME OVER/MISSION FAILED black screen. I want to be assigned tasks intelligently by a sergeant based upon where I am/what gear I am carrying rather than being completely scripted and/or arbitrary like most games.
Oh, and why is it that years after highly successful movies like Black Hawk Down or Starship Troopers that there are not ANY large-scale online multi-player co-op games? Gamers are itching for scenario missions which they can play with all their friends and yet NONE of the game companies are delivering. It's weird.
Oh and what about MMOFPSs? Have you ever played Planetside? It COULD have been the *****. But SOE, as typical, completely screwed it up and by not fixing bugs and milking the community dry with expansion pack after expansion pack. I'd keep my eye on games like Huxley because the minute one game company does get the MMOFPS formula right, I have a feeling it's going to become immensely popular. - B3000, on 04/02/2008, -1/+10Gears did nothing first.
- bonecones, on 04/02/2008, -1/+8Sorry mate, but we don't even have a SSBB release date here in australia. It's very unlikely you'll see a SSBB zero punctuation anytime soon.
- doublebummer, on 04/02/2008, -3/+10http://www.monster.com/
- GrammarNazi3000, on 04/02/2008, -3/+10I'm just glad i didn't get rickrolled at the end.
- elnerdo, on 04/02/2008, -0/+6I think that was technically the joke. Smid was making fun of Hayze for calling it an FPS. He should've just stuck with "Shooter", though.
- laserblazer, on 04/02/2008, -0/+6Your expectations preclude irony.
- themastersb, on 04/02/2008, -0/+6Lol.... "Boosties"
- DetpackJump, on 04/02/2008, -1/+7pimping guns increases their aggro generation rate.
- janoo1989, on 04/02/2008, -7/+13the Bush Administration
- LilJimmyNordin, on 04/03/2008, -1/+7Actually, THIS game is the sequel. The original game was an Amiga shareware title called Army Of.
- inactive, on 04/02/2008, -0/+6Active reload...which is great as small as it might seem.
- postalblowfish7, on 04/02/2008, -3/+8Army of Tutu? Army of Leotard?
- bobartig, on 04/02/2008, -0/+5They're being double crossed by their own PMC, and maybe the US government something liek that at any rate, and need to deal with the corruption at home to deal with the 'true terrorists'. So, you're still the good guys, at least.
- TheWorm, on 04/02/2008, -0/+5Next time instead of refreshing the escapist, spend your time looking for a new and interesting story. It's a given that Yahtzee will get to the front page of Digg...you don't get a prize for being the first moron to get it submitted.
- JudgeMonkey, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4Exactly, if he wanted to say something about your comment, it could be that Army of Two isn't an FPS.
- 471776, on 04/02/2008, -2/+6No *****.
- iziizi, on 04/02/2008, -7/+11quality as always, never fails to crack me up after a ***** wednesday at work.
- inactive, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4Damn dude I am sorry to hear that... That's just ridiculous, what's the reason for that crap?
- rileylolz, on 04/02/2008, -1/+4What? No, best Zero Punctuation in a while. gg context
- fyrehart, on 04/02/2008, -1/+4Socom?
- moush, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3Maybe you should ***** work then instead of being a crybaby bitch, tell mom to get the food heated up so you can rush home and watch this ***** with some sloppy joes.
- slvrbullet87, on 04/02/2008, -2/+5Damn the office rule against streaming video
- JudgeMonkey, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3Yeah, gotta love that ethnocentrism. Just because a game has been out for a while where you live, doesn't mean the same for where he lives. Like even at the end of this review when he hints that next week will likely contain more stuff "you foreign bastards have been playing for months"... guess who the foreign bastard is?
