*do we have to submit every one?*
*quote from the movie we just watched*
*fanboi whining about a game getting reviewed negatively*
*Proclamation claiming I'll get buried, made in hopes of achieving the opposite affect*
*Hoping I used the correct form of affect/effect while being too lazy to look it up*
*wtf, firefox tries to correct the spelling of fanboi with words like 'rainbows' and 'bouffant'* - DanteDefiance, on 05/28/2008, -14/+245Ever notice that no one actually talks about the game? Instead it's 300 comments about how much every one loves Yahtzee, not that that's a bad thing. I think he's the best game reviewer to come around since.....well ever I guess.
I recently bought this game. It truly is one of the most original RPG's I've played in many years. I highly recommend it. - Zyxion, on 05/28/2008, -8/+215Waitafreakingmunte!
Yahtzee beat Psychobilly Freakout on Expert? I thought he said it took a trained spider?! - Trifold, on 05/28/2008, -5/+159Congratulations to Sovereign2142 on winning the Yahtzee front page lottery for the week.
- inactive, on 05/28/2008, -2/+153Well there is an obvious conclusion to draw from this...
- zaren, on 05/28/2008, -1/+133Dammit.
I was watching this review in the office, and someone walked in with a question. I hit pause quick, so as not to offend them with language, and helped them out. I turned back to see that I had puased the video when he was complaining about the gesture-based attack system by drawing a big red penis on the screen.
Hopefully I don't get reported for looking at pr0n at work. :p - qpingu, on 05/28/2008, -4/+99Who cares about the game? We just want to watch the video for its crude humor. Yahtzee might as well be reviewing tapeworms and it would still be as popular.
- goldenhearted, on 05/28/2008, -8/+98I dunno if it's been pointed out before but I have to say it, I find the Zero Punctuation character figures adorable.
- iigloo, on 05/28/2008, -7/+86*some guy saying you are a kliché*
*some guy saying I am a kliché*
*some guy saying that the guy saying to me that I am a kliché, is a kliché*
*some guy saying that the guy saying that the guy saying that..... eeeh ∞
yeah, and some guy doing this ^ - TheWorm, on 05/28/2008, -0/+69The irony here is that your comment is a cliché now.
- Doomsan, on 05/28/2008, -20/+81That's what i've been waiting this whole work day!
- pagancollective, on 05/28/2008, -7/+53FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST CAN WE PLEASE STOP WITH THE POST-MODERN STYLE OF COMMENTING
- daRoach, on 05/28/2008, -2/+42I've never been accused of being a Danish new wave band from the '80s.
- staticneuron, on 05/28/2008, -1/+39*Spelling Nazi: It's cliché! Kliché is a danish rock band.*
- tadhgisaledgend, on 05/28/2008, -4/+40......................for.
- Zyphron, on 05/28/2008, -2/+37Depends, one of the best things about Yahtzee for me was watching him be the only person to oppose the fanboys and bash games like Halo and SSBB.
- Sovereign2142, on 05/28/2008, -6/+40Thank you, it really means a lot to me. Someday I hope to be the Mr.BabyMan of Zero Punctuation!
- inactive, on 05/28/2008, -14/+47I'd love to hear him tear apart WoW. Just for the sake of the wowtards somehow beating him up through the internet.
also marshmellow fluff. - inactive, on 05/28/2008, -5/+33Dugg for the tapeworms. Those little buggers are under appreciated.
- Sovereign2142, on 05/28/2008, -1/+29I'll get right on that as soon as I get a Twitter and legions of people to beg that I not go.
- Homest4r, on 05/28/2008, -7/+33Two Yahtzee front page articles in one day.
Happy Yahtzeeday. - Nichael, on 05/28/2008, -12/+35The World Ends With You really is great. Everything about it is extremely polished and well done. Even the mini-game in it is entertaining as a stand alone title.
- Cloud7654, on 05/28/2008, -1/+22No one cares how good at Guitar Hero you are.
- Sovereign2142, on 05/28/2008, -5/+25I agree.
- snagra, on 05/28/2008, -0/+18Happy Birthday Yahtzee!
- MacTyler, on 05/28/2008, -2/+19Yahtzee has a pet spider?
- iziizi, on 05/28/2008, -0/+17I bet he can relax knowing you are now satisfied.
- kaelyiesta, on 05/28/2008, -0/+16Stupid recursive self referential nonsense. I realize that by pointing all this out the intent is to stop morons from writing something predictable. Unfortunately, it wont work. People smart enough to understand what you are trying to wouldn't write such cliche crap in the first place leaving the not so smart people who will continue to bore us with the same nonsense over and over no matter what.
In the end, this is just another piece of the cliche loop. - max420, on 05/28/2008, -3/+18Thats the stupidest thing I ever heard, I'm glad you wasted money on a game you can't play. If you don't understand japanese, why would you buy the Japanese version of a JRPG game. RPG's by definition have dialog, and things to read.
Idiot. - chokeaduck, on 05/28/2008, -1/+16Well Yahtzee's reviews are often more entertaining than whatever game he is actually reviewing, so that's why you see those sorts of posts here. I really enjoyed the game myself, actually, and I'm not a big fan of RPGs in general, I'm more of the fan of the old school adventure games and some FPS every now and again, but this really made me turn a corner, I wonder if Square-Enix will turn this into a franchise like Kingdom Hearts or not.
- Shawn4168, on 05/28/2008, -0/+14My money's on people misspelling the word "punctuation".
- inactive, on 05/28/2008, -0/+13get back to work.
- chokeaduck, on 05/28/2008, -1/+14His reviews fill a void of scathing and critical commentaries on the gaming industry. MSM and most "professional" reviews are sadly in the publisher's pockets, if we have learned anything through Digg over the past few months. So he does reviews with Window Movie Maker, and he's lewd and makes obscure references. It doesn't have to be your thing, but clearly a large amount of Digg users enjoy this type of thing. My bigger question is that the Angry Videogame Nerd has been doing this for years, and I'm curious why he doesn't have quite the same fanbase. Actually I'd like to see them teamup, but I'm not sure how that'd work, generally AVGN reviews games from at least 2 gens ago, and usually Yahtzee covers current or games that are only a few years old.
- Sovereign2142, on 05/28/2008, -3/+14Yes.
- cheese0089, on 05/28/2008, -3/+14Dugg for REM
- max420, on 05/29/2008, -0/+10That, and yeah, my comment was kind of harsh. Sorry 'bout that, but I still think its dumb to buy a game in a language one does not understand. Especially an RPG.
- PATSCRU, on 05/28/2008, -0/+10Completely agree. I went into it expecting another generic squeenix title and was completely blown away by the depth and originality. One of the most engrossing combat systems for any RPG and some of the deepest leveling mechanics i've seen outside of Oblivion make this game unbelievably amazing.
- Arramol, on 05/28/2008, -0/+10On that note, someone send him a Macbook Air to review. Although if you want to see fanboys go berserk, you might read the comments on his review of Smash Bros. Brawl. All the other reviews get 100-300 comments. Brawl? Over 1100.
- PATSCRU, on 05/28/2008, -1/+11Newsflash: the game takes place in shibuya, and the kids in the game all dress like they're in the tokyo fashion mecca of Shibuya. Playing the game gives me flashbacks of when I lived in Tokyo, and everything down to the architecture an location of shops is reproduced in the game. I know you're upset that the characters aren't wearing guilded mithril and riding flying mounts, but Squeenix took a chance and it worked.
- gutistg, on 05/28/2008, -0/+10The video does.
- Twine52, on 05/28/2008, -0/+9RPG =/= FPS
Don't try and compare genres... it just doesn't work. - bagboyrebel, on 05/28/2008, -0/+9In my opinion, the better question is what's so great about WoW? I don't think that theres anything wrong with it, but I also never saw anything worth paying for either.
- mannymix03, on 05/28/2008, -6/+15dugg for marshmallow fluff
- pixeleyes, on 05/28/2008, -0/+9No opinions on digg please.
- samfishercell, on 05/28/2008, -4/+13WEWY is actually a really fun game. I had Pokemon Diamond sitting around and decided to kick it to the curb and invest in a new DS game (who freaking needs 670 types of pokemon, 34 different kinds of pokeballs, and a FREAKING pokemon FASHION SHOW? Not me.) I did find the "puzzle solving" aspect of WEWY that Yahtzee mentioned to be ridiculous -- you get 'clues' in-game and the characters either immediately suss it out before you can, or spend the next 30 minutes questioning something blatantly obvious. However, the story is at least somewhat intruiging, the battle system is wholly unique, and it seems like it will have some great replay value. I feel sorry for anyone who's scoffed it off simply because it's a "JRPG." Reminds me of the ignorant people who hate any bit of "Japanimation" simply because it's styled in that way.
On the ZeroPunct side of things -- I think Yahtzee is one of the only reviewers who can take a rather honest look at some games (Smash Bros. Brawl -- another game I ditched for WEWY). But, for the record, he loved the mindless shooting of Painkiller and yet couldn't grasp the dual-screen battles of WEWY. - Sovereign2142, on 05/28/2008, -6/+15I still got there didn't I?
- Chalks777, on 05/28/2008, -0/+7>>One can get much greater use out of the partner by continuously jamming right or left without watching the action upstairs
hahaha, sex. - Intangible360, on 05/28/2008, -0/+7"Keep it down over there" Best review in awhile :)
