- retral, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30One fleeting question... Why is it still considered a DVD when it's data on the internet?
- Quickbreak, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25No, fael, this is the best Zelda video ever:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2967926040995072267 - ThetaDot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20I have only played a few zelda games, so this video provides a lot of good and new (to me) information.
The timeline speculation near the end is extremely interesting. - Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Downloaded to iPod format.
now my bus rides wont be so dull. - KJSatz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Except that whole Wii thing.
- toast1226, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I have only played a few Zelda games in the past and haven't ever fully completed one (I'm not that much of a gamer), but this retrospect was quite informative in my opinion. It shows how just how innovative Nintendo is and how they aren't afraid to try new things.
- FreakTrap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Or mabey it was just proof-read and revised... like your supposed to do with a script...?
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I hear what you're saying, but this video is made FOR fans of the series (kind of like why fans of movies LOVE the DVD extras).
I was in line at KB Toys in '87 with my dad and bought the first Zelda game, played it through and have played and beaten every Zelda game since.
I think as an observer you're opinion is very valid, this is indeed for fans of the series. - heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15If you are interested in this video on DVD (Free Download) get it here:

Here is the Digg post that made it to the front page about the DVD if you have any questions:
http://digg.com/videos_gaming/The_Legend_of_Zelda_Full_Retrospective_DVD - oogee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11great! now I have to download and install all those nintendo emulators again and start from the beginning.
- jacobmp92, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9"but thats just my opinion, and i know ninty fanwanks are going to cry and digg me down because of it"
Is "fanwanks" your word of the day? - sumskater41, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9That's epic. So many memories... So many hours spent staring at a screen...
- tdhurst, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Yes.
- pw1388, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That was one of the best 50min films i watch in a long time.
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah same here, I am currently playing Twilight Princess and enjoying it very much. It is a masterpiece for sure.
- bokchoi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The video in itself is a bit fanboy-ish (DONT HURT ME!)
I mean, Zelda, in my truly HONEST OPINION, was a pretty good series but not something that I breathe night and day. I've only played Link to the Past and parts of Wind Waker and OOT at friends' houses. But to do a full 6 episode exclusive retrospective on one series and produce timeline theories at the end of it seems like something a Zelda diehard fan would do.
I mean, why not do it for other the Nintendo series as well, or why not series that expand more than one platform? I'm sorry, but day by day, no matter how hard I try to deny it, the Internet seems to have this hard Nintendo bias implemented. Before you say "OMFG SONY FANBOY" I am merely an observer, and I call it like I see it. Ok, Zelda was good, but don't go crazy if someone says its a mediocre game or something.
Sorry that sort of went off, but yeah. The whole video was interesting though, I really enjoyed it, (really). - Sp0rAdiC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6but for those who don't have it yet... this will be some releif
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Monolith Creative designed the official DVD cover art, ready for print: http://wiinintendo.net/?p=1932
- KJSatz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Like what? Maybe you just have a mediocre vocabulary.
I mean...***** words. - ParadoxControl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You know, I never considered the Zelda games to be connected at all until I saw this video. They way they describe it though makes a lot of sense. I'm egger to play Twilight Princes to see where it falls in the time line.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I would like to add that if it wasn't for digg and spare time, I would not be as complete as I am after seeing that and being able to pick up and play Twilight Princess right now. But I'd probably still have a Wii regardless of digg, so... hmmm.
- Dustyb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was just about to ask about the timeline, it horribly confuses me but this video clears things up for me. Interesting, even if you just watch the last 20 mins.
- mmgreenmms, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@Quickbreak:
So that's what happens to my missing socks. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"No, fael, this is the best Zelda video ever:

For now you can still download the DVD:
http://wiinintendo.net/2006/11/22/the-legend-of-zelda-full-retrospective-dvd/ - SucKerS4Me, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I was not being sarcastic.... this video made me tear up at times.... I really am going to buy a Wii cause of this game.
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's from Link's Awakening on the Gameboy, but it does sound like a lot of early NES games.
- enforcerpsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The time line was very interesting. The only way to get it to work is with a time line split and I think they got it close, if not right on. I don't think Nintendo ORIGINALLY was going to tie all the stories together, but as they started making more games it made sense to start referencing other games in the story line. I would like to see Nintendo's official take on this.
- zetawoof, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone know the song that's being played from 11:49 - 12:01?
- ptaylor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Gotta love PSP hacks. Got "the best" Zeldas on it - TLoZ-A Link tot he Past(SNES) and TLoZ-Oracna(sp?) of Time. SWEEEEEETTT!!!!
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you use Azureus or uTorrent you can select the files within the torrent. There are 3 .VOB files in the torrent all of which are 1GB, so download one a week :)
- doshindude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3is the download of the google video messing up in audio for anyone? it is for me.
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@RUFiO006
That's just all 6 video back to back, the video that was originally linked was ONE long video edited to play as one video, it's re-uploaded here:
RE-UPLOADED TO GOOGLE VIDEO:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4997441945040345411&hl=en - MattyLite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lame . . . I want to download the 3 gig DVD, but my school restricts us to 2 gigs/week. Damn bandwidth limits.
- kopaka649, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, it messes up about 2 minutes through it.
- whiskerlickins, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Since when have you even played a Zelda game? I thought you were a PC gaming fanwank.
- shaynemckay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm sorry if I have to make anyone angry but, I was playing Twilight Princess on Wii and I began to think that this video is wrong. They say that the end of Ocarina of Time is where this one begins, well in Twilight Princess, Link knows nothing about Zelda or who she is, and he has no recollection of Ganondorf. Sorry if i'm the first one to say this, but where i'm at now, this is what i've learned.
- RUFiO006, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The newly uploaded Google Video of this can now be found here:
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-8294987518457725387&q=zelda+retrospective - DagYo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Some lines are just overly awkward, that's all.
- Ahnteis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2@retral
Because the meaning of DVD changed a long time ago. It's now something like Digital Versatile Disk. - SineNomen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The P5 controller flopped (much like Microsoft's awhile back) it didn't work well with any games.
You can't make a game for a keyboard and mouse, and try to tack on a nifty controller later, it doesn't work.
Has motion-sensing been done before? Yes. Has it been done well, with any significant amount of developer support? No.
That's the diference right there buddy. - dehydration, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@quickbreak
That was too hilarious, yeah that was the best Zelda video yet, I couldn't breathe because I was laughing so hard. - TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2bleh......I'm skipping this Zelda....
- TheBritishGuy1, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3I really enjoyed the sixth installment of this series. It cleared all the mystery of the Zelda time line with a coherent, and most likely true hypotheses.
- SucKerS4Me, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7Well now i have to go buy a Wii
- Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Do you live just to ***** on Nintendo posts?
Sony fanboy fag. - DagYo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Does anyone get the feeling the script was written thesaurus in hand?
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2lol, can you say:
Emulation - NiGHTSChao, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1yay ^-^
