- masbestiaquetu, on 01/14/2008, -9/+660yikes. im 15, and when i bought COD4, they asked for an ID, and i showed them my school ID card that said i graduate in 2011 and the cashier didnt say anything. go figure.
- mywhitenoise, on 01/14/2008, -13/+490Is this really "the craziest story (you've) ever read"?
- TheLoneWolf071, on 01/14/2008, -19/+339the new laws for selling Video games does put a strain and burden on the Sellers, but come on. They were not selling to a minor, they saw that he was old enough to buy. This is like a parent buying for the kid. Would they have stopped a parent? I don't think so.
I avoid Best buy like the plague now and days cause in all honesty, they suck at technology. Period. - johnnybluejeans, on 01/14/2008, -14/+250Really? Punched them in the face?! Damn dude, you sound really tough. I bet you are a badass!
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -4/+220"I condone the store for actually following the law"
There are no laws for selling games - only suggested guidelines. - bobbyschultz, on 01/14/2008, -19/+168Best Buy is just the worst place one could possibly shop for electronics
- katrayun, on 01/14/2008, -4/+150Cut him some slack - maybe he just learned to read!
- Luieburger, on 01/14/2008, -16/+146*****
- AbsurdParadox, on 01/14/2008, -2/+118This whole Rating scam is ridiculous. Especially with movies. I highly recommend you all watch "This film is not yet rated". The whole thing is a racket.
- JasonsLan, on 01/14/2008, -1/+108this happened to me, just a couple weeks ago, at a grocery store buying beer, and my wife was with me. I'm 39, my wife is 33, she didn't have her ID, so they refused to sell me beer.. thats jacked up even more.. - whats odd, is the same store, same cashier, with my 8 year old daughter by my side, asked no questions whatsoever.. welcome to America!
- TheRascalKing, on 01/14/2008, -2/+105Hahaha... brick brains. Funny guy.
- Laqrhead, on 01/14/2008, -8/+91Good thing we were notified, or else I may have died from information underload.
- mhuggins, on 01/15/2008, -2/+85wtf? Am I the only one seeing an empty comment?
- inactive, on 01/15/2008, -1/+76Well, with the world ending in 2012 and all, the cashier probably felt sorry for your predicament since you would never be able to "legally" play COD4.
- Mosatii, on 01/14/2008, -1/+74What laws?
- limes4all, on 01/14/2008, -9/+80i bet you have a barb wire tattoo to go with that badass attitude
- mywhitenoise, on 01/14/2008, -4/+71Really? I was thinking Joann Fabrics, Old Navy, petsmart, or Albertsons.
In all seriousness, Circuit City is a hell of a lot worse - Sedako, on 01/14/2008, -4/+70It's Best Buy... nothing new here.
- digitalunit, on 01/14/2008, -0/+58Hell yeah, man.
- GliTCH82, on 01/14/2008, -3/+61Your comment made perfect sense up until the part where you said you condone the store for actually following the law. There's no law that says you can't sell an adult video game to a 21 year old. That's all that matters. Whether or not the 21 year old decides to hand the game over to the kid next to him is his responsibility, and not Best Buy's.
- Pointman323, on 01/14/2008, -2/+59i woulda stabbed that bitch..'cause thats what you do in prison. and im such a rebel i've been to prison...twice....both for murder...
- jjesusfreak01, on 01/14/2008, -6/+62I would take it as a complement of your wife...
- MasterInsan0, on 01/14/2008, -2/+58Or as an insult to your daughter.
- oyourmom, on 01/14/2008, -1/+52When i was at Gamestop with my friend and his dad a few years ago they wouldn't let me buy Halo because "it has to be MY dad and i can't give him the money to buy it"
We went to Walmart and they let me buy it without him there anyway. - Maxamegalon2000, on 01/14/2008, -1/+50Yes, to echo Mosatii's comment, there are no such laws placing age restrictions on the sale of video games. All attempts to do so have been ruled unconstitutional.
- kookykyle, on 01/14/2008, -4/+51i live by there, ive been there, they suck there.
- alphaterminus, on 01/15/2008, -1/+48I'm 35. The other day a kid was buying GTA San Andreas in front of me and they would not sell it to him. I just told them he was my brother. The checker knew I was full of ***** but sold it to him anyway and gave me a "You're full of ***** look." If the kid is old enough to drive, he's old enough to buy a god damn video game.
- Komgol, on 01/14/2008, -4/+49Did anybody else find it funny that this guy was asking the manager if he had to drive to "another Best Buy" to get the game?
You threaten to go to a competitor! - fadetoone, on 01/15/2008, -2/+45Apparently everybody forgets that even with the under 21 law, the kids are still driving around drunk at 16.
- turpenine, on 01/14/2008, -6/+45HAHAHA nice.
- DoodleMaster, on 01/14/2008, -0/+38typhoon think about it this way. "risk you job by going against company policy, or don't sell the game to a minor and keep your job that pays the bils"
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -0/+38Never got caught 'neither.
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -1/+38How old are you?
- friedcalamari, on 01/14/2008, -4/+39Doesn’t surprises me, Best Buy treats customers like criminals.
- se1zure, on 01/15/2008, -7/+41To the submitter of this article and all other idiots like him:
Learn how to use quotations CORRECTLY. Best buy never said word for word "You cannot buy that game, there's a minor next to you" , that is what you paraphrased, meaning there should be no quotes, and you are just doing it to make them look worse / sensationalize the article. - paimei01, on 01/14/2008, -8/+41Guilty until proven innocent
- Nobi-Wan, on 01/14/2008, -1/+34The ESRB rating is voluntary. It's not illegal (yet) for a store to sell it to a minor. It's a "suggested" rating.
- mywhitenoise, on 01/14/2008, -14/+46"If so it's almost as dumb as the under 21 law for alcohol."
yeah...just what we need. 16 year old kids with new licenses driving around drunk. Smart idea. - Mosatii, on 01/15/2008, -0/+31There have been many laws proposed, but as far as I understand all of those have been struck down in court.
- Typhoon2009, on 01/14/2008, -1/+31Ask for Battletoads, or Terminator on LaserDisc.
- Tony611, on 01/14/2008, -0/+29trust me...don't work there
- DarkerMaster, on 01/14/2008, -6/+34***** Best Buy!!!
- inactive, on 01/15/2008, -1/+27And Indiana passed that utterly unconstitutional law how?
- DarkDragon, on 01/14/2008, -0/+26because there are no laws against selling games to minors, just suggestions.
- ComradeGoby, on 01/14/2008, -1/+26Yes, the cashiers at Walmart know exactly what the Pirate Bay is.
- katrayun, on 01/15/2008, -0/+25Do not work there. I repeat, do not work for Gamestop. Ever.
- Matri, on 01/15/2008, -4/+28Pfft, a true badass would wear actual barbwire.
- yohnstoppable, on 01/15/2008, -0/+23How can you see it if it's empty?
- hardD, on 01/14/2008, -1/+25People who say they emulate ***** when they commit a crime are just trying to take the responsibility off themselves.
- Dracusis, on 01/15/2008, -1/+25This is how it should be done:
If the child looked too young, they should have advised the adult purchasing the item of it's content rating and that it may be unsuitable for minors, but still allowed them to purchase it once being properly informed. That's what sales clerks are supposed to do. -
