- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+88Simcity 4 has been out forever. I have no idea why the person posting that on youtube said it was new. It was a pretty impressive jump in between Sim City games at the time, but it's nothing new at the moment. Now I just can't wait until Spore comes out.
- RichPowers, on 10/12/2007, -5/+71SimCity 4 was released almost 4 years ago... Now if only the game was as fun as the ad makes it seem (SC has progressively got so complex that it's not as fun anymore, a fact Will Wright acknowledges)
- mikesbaker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+51out dated - the game came out in 2003.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37EA Games: Ruin Everything.
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35and will correct with Spore.
- MrZop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Sim City 2000 was great. but as far as the sim city games go, they are getting too complex. it has gotten to the point where you have to micro-manage EVERYTHING, and that gets a tad tedious. once they introduced city politics and stuff like that it turned me off. i like the more engineering style of the original games.
- magaman, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28Why is this on digg now??? its REALLY OLD!!!!!!!!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+27Consoles? Dude, come on! It would be like asking to play WoW on the DS - good idea on paper, but it wouldn't work out...
- Ygduf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Simcity on SNES was great. You could let it run while you slept and wake up 1000 years later.
Awesome game. - Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17They're working on a modified version of SC3000 for DS:
http://ds.ign.com/articles/729/729390p1.html
I'm looking forward to it; seems like a good fit with the touchscreen interface. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13SC3K was the threshhold for me. It was everything SimCity 2000 had and more.
I just wish there was a Streets of SimCity 2 that worked with SC3K. That would be almost orgasmic. Imagine a GTA3/VC/SA quality game where you roam amongst your own city :D - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12A trailer for a 4 year old game? Come on, people!
- aaronm67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10SimTower was pretty great, too.
- lgc90, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11SPORE!!!
- ersatzphi, on 10/12/2007, -14/+23the graphics seem very outdated, i was expecting what was shown in the commercial as the buildings fell. seems right considering what games look like now.
- pumacub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Speaking of Sim City, are there any plans for a Sim City 5?
- pumacub, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10They need to somehow implement something similar to FFXII's gambit system but for running your city. Keep the complexity, but provide a way to automatically and dynamically manage your city.
- pixelmixer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I agree... I'm not really big on saying things like this on most Digg stories but come on!... this is OLLD... its confusing people about the game, they actually think that its about to be released or something because a trailer is on digg, when in reality Sim City 4 has been out for years(?).
- aaronm67, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I agree with both of you, actually.
Civ II and Sim City 2000 are classics, and after that it just got too complex. - mikesbaker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7SC 4 came out in 2003.... yet it still consumes way too much of my time every now and then.
- AncientTV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6youre right, we're gonna have to wait til '04 for good games :[
- Four20, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6correct. it was released in '03(jan i believe)
I had never seen the commercial before and thought it was a great visual concept on the series. - Four20, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7i agree, and think civilization has basicly followed in the same steps
- bocoaot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I loved Sim Ant...and I think I was the only one.
- raptordrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I still find the Super NES version of SimCity (with Green-haird Dr. Wright!) the best game in the series. I play it more than any of the others, still to this day.
- facade42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4SimBrick anyone?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sim_Brick - elfuego, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Hmm... maybe I'm going against the consensus here, but SC4 is actually my favorite of the series... it's the only one where I was able to put together a financially stable city.
- truax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think this game is supposed to be played with alot more strategy than some people are willing to put into it.. This game used to make me not do my homework when I got home from school. It was all too much fun.
- SuperJimmyJimbo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ crgnetworks
I hope 2003 has a time machine, cuz this game came out in '04 - Halodude1489, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yea I want to see a new Sim Tower.
- p4ddym, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4A pity the game is not as exciting as that...
- quanta88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree, it lacked the magic of the previous SimCities. Too much micromanagement, too many bugs.
There was one brutal memory leak that was never tried to fix which caused your computer to slow to a crawl when your town exceeded 100,000 people.
Then there was the whole extortion racket involving the manual - the manual was only six pages long - if you wanted to fully learn the mathematics and gameplay elements, you had to buy the official Prima guide (which contained the NIMBY tables and other info necessary to properly succeed in the game).
Chalk it up to EA laziness. - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2SimFarm Ruled.
- coopa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is City Life any good, i've seen it on Steam recently and have been thinking about getting it.
SC 3 and 4 kind of turned me off from the SC games, like others have said, it's getting far too complex. - m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, good thing I never bought it. I only considered downloading it.
Now I won't do that at all. Thanks for saving me some bandwidth. ;-) - KniteWulf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would have kept the fog.
- davodavo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@m3mn0n
Really? Wind Waker was released for the Wii? I always thought, you know, that it came out 3 years ago.
Just like SC4. Which is funny, because that was the entire point of my post! Way to catch that one, Sherlock. - m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm big on strategy/simulation games and such but I'd rather play The Sims than any SimCity
It lacks the simplicity of a Warcraft - J3Holaday, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Exactly, it didn't come out last week, so it's old.
- frascellyboy273, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i must agree about civ3 to civ4...i was hooked on civ3, but i got civ4 (which also means that most of us have to buy a new graphics card) and civ4 is bloated and slow as hell, i wish they would just simplify it
- ptaylor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is so old...
Where is SimCity 5? - RooDoG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I still play Simcity 4 a few Times a month, I absolutely love the game.
There are people who are amazing at manipulating this game... www.simtropolis.com - Whoeverxxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You guys should try Civ 4 and its expansion. I agree with the great reviews it received. The best in the series, on the other hand Simcity 4 was not what I had hoped for when it came about but its still a fair game, I might have been burnt out a bit on SC 2&3 to really appreciate it any more at the time where as I think I might have skipped a Civ game before I jumped into 4.
- addicted68098, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sim City 2000 was the best, I haven't got a more recent Sim City yet.
- wetard57, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i played the Snes simcity i agree it was the best, played 2k on ps1 and 3k on pc and simcity 4 was just a let down, also its very old if not stated enough
- m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1...yet it ranks tops in terms of sales for Wii
nice prediction, einstein - raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The ad is way cool though
- krazymelvin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3"There's a new SimCity game in the pipeline..."
http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6160951.html - piratesarefun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'm pretty sure i saw this a couple of years ago when it was a current advertisement...
