Xbox Live Crash? 12/26/06
2old2play.com — Xbox Live has gone down across all games as of 7:00pm Central Time. So far there is no explanation for the crash.
- 946 diggs
- digg it
- jeb4, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13i love how microsoft doesn't tell us anything. just that it's down. Ive been on the forums and everyone's been calling. so far we've got an estimate of 20 minutes....and the EARLIEST tomorrow morning.... good luck everyone
- mattyice11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23Private chats still work, but I can't even play my Gears campaign locally.
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25@mattyice11
If you unplugg the cable from your 360 you can play the local games. You just cant be connect to Xbox Live - expiredmeatbag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8same here, gears of war and halo 2 wont let me connect to friends, but the chats worked fine
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33The fact that they didn't warn us or anything probably means it's due to an unexpected outage. This is definitely serious news because I can't remember another time when this happened - it's usually a very reliable service.
- bs0l, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5I was playing pocket bike racer trying to get on when it said no games were available. "On a popular and amazing game like this?" I thought. I figured it must have been Burger King's fatty acids clogging the tubes.
Think I'll get my xblive time redeemed? Im going off of all free 48 hour and 1 week cards. - Software2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I love how this story about how the earthquake effects us makes it to the front page first, and with double the diggs of the story that reports the actual earthquake and how much of asia has had their internet crippled.
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Actually according to the Xbox.com website http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/?WT.svl=nav
It says "Status: Up and running.
Xbox Live is currently experiencing issues with Matchmaking. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and Thank You for your patience."
Its been like that for well over an hour since I posted this on some gamespot forums. - DrunKao, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2My GoW wasn't working either but I wasn't aware that it was because Live was down. Can someone explain to me how live being down prevents you from playing single-player games? I was trying to beat Raam on Nightmare and every time I picked one of the difficulty levels it would go back to the choose difficulty screen after loading for a brief second. The train level is so hard on Nightmare, especially the part where you have to shoot all of those flying locust with the railgun thing.
- autocrawler, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5Reminds me why I dislike proprietary online multiplayer systems that much. PC online gaming for the win!
*prepares to get dugg down* :P - TheBigBrother, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4
I don't care if people in taiwan had a deadly earthquake, i want to play on xbox live, damnit!
/spoiled kid - theOster, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1EDIT [earthquake comment]
dupe.
bury. - ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I've been playing coop Gears of War with a mate for the past seven hours. Certainly doesn't seem like it's down.
- bmeckel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3today was my first day ever on xbox live, and after spending all day downloading maps for halo 2, no one was on, but i was able to connect. Weird, but that's must be why they weren't on. let me know if i'm right or if i am just doing something wrong.
- gxcdesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2With my day off tomorrow...so much for not being able to play all night tonight.
Either way this is the second time that Live is down unexpectedly w/o any real answers. - cstrike006, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1its obvious that bill gates made a deal with mother earth to cause an earthquake that would knock out those activation servers in china for vista, he screwed her over sumhow so she got mad and took out xbox live
- briaooon9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I wasn't able to play my Gears campaign mode either...what a crock of sh*&%. They just made their system basically un-playable for a night...nice work MS.
- Crazyiodudo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought it was EXTREMENLY odd how there were no online Gears of War games last night.
- briaooon9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I just got off the phone with xbox live support and the dumb ass (who was eating his lunch in my ear) said that they will be down for 3-6 weeks because of the earthquake. WTF! You have got to be kidding me, they don't have backup, this will be one of the biggest F*&^ UP's in history if this is true. I hope that the idiot support dude did not know what the hell he is talking about! He told me to disconnect my wireless connection and then I could play GoW single player (I could not do that last night). I will try it when I get home... what a project just to play a game. Looks like I will be spending more time with my Wii and PS3 (haven't played Resistance yet)?
- mrchin, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3Came home from work to disappointment. My explanation is earthquake. Link to my original post.
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Series_of_Tubes_Knocked_out_in_Asia_No_Xbox_Gaming_oh_my - Imascienceguy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4nice, and my wife was just heading to bed so I could get my R6 Vegas MP fix for the night. Well, I'll just stick to Marvel Ultimate Alliance or Elebits.
- benlong, on 10/12/2007, -11/+7The title says 12/26/06. Today is the 12/27/06. What is going on?
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Mistype sorry. title in real story says 12/27/06
- Dino451, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Just had to happen when I wanted to play GOW!
- expiredmeatbag, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10When don't you want to play Gears of War?
- edrift101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Gears of War is a great co-op and single player game, but the multiplayer leaves a lot to be desired. GRAW and Rainbow Six are where it's at online.
- mrchin, on 10/12/2007, -19/+2Why the digg downs? CNN article more important. Actually talking about an earthquake and more important downed resources. Not just Xbox.
- mattyice11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17CNN article doesn't mention Live at all.
- mrchin, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Point is that it mentions the earthquake and real problems. The other digg is my presumption that this may have something to do with it, though not publicly stated anywhere.
- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Xbox Live is serious business...
- LoungeActx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Stop it with the earthquake crap...the earthquake wouldn't effect the U.S. or European XBox Live. Think about it...how efficient would it be to route say, someone from NY's game packets through Asia and then back? It wouldn't. If I were to venture a guess as to why it was down it would be an overwhelming amount of volume on the servers since you know that holiday where people get presents was the other day and people are just getting back home from visiting family and friends, and they are booting up their brand new xbox's.
- avktm, on 10/12/2007, -18/+7All EA games work because they got good servers
- fugazi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36All EA games lag so in a sense they dont work.
- bdorry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Now they only need some good games for those servers and we're good to go
- fugazi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Just checked cant get a Madden game going so you are a liar :P
- wilburx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Burnout Revenge has been screwy all night
- bluto20, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14This is *****. Now I can't work on my Seriously... Achievment.
- Jayslacks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12No one said that this article was going to cure cancer, jackasses. If you like online gaming, then one of the most important online gaming vectors being down is a big, big deal. And yeah, don't expect this to be fixed until the morning. You guys are going to have to read a book or kiss your wives tonight...
- Buelldozer, on 10/12/2007, -25/+1They're in High School, they're geeks, they're gamers. They don't have wives.
- FreakTrap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@Buelldozer
Welcome to thirteen years ago; population: you.
- Aero1, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1this is crap! i cant even play GOW single player!!!!
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8yes you can.... read the article.
- Aero1, on 10/12/2007, -13/+3if you believe that unplugging or disconnecting from live to play a single player game that has absolutely no correlation with the ***** internet is a viable solution, you are a retard. you should unplug yourself from life and make everyone around you happy.
- mcottier, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3lol. I just did it, and it worked for me, so you are wrong buddy. The reason you can't play it when you are connected, is because it uploads statistics and has a co-op mode that people can join in on. So if you unplug the cable, it just treats you as a regular Joe who doesn't have high speed internet hooked up to it.
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -57/+6PS3 Network is up and running fine, FYI.
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -9/+58With its 4 total users? Hawt!
- bdorry, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Wasn't fine a few days ago with a fraction of the users xbox live has, but I guess it would be awfully convenient for ya if we all forgot about that
- TyPhyter, on 10/12/2007, -15/+5too bad the ps3 sux ass...its losing in sales to the wii, how gay does sony have to be
- sonder, on 10/12/2007, -15/+17Christ, calm down you freaking 14 year olds. Sometimes ***** breaks.
- brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3I don't see anyone here going AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WTF WTF WTF OMG WTF DO I DOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111111111111
You're not helping. Go troll some xbox forums or something. - Whackly, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10How the hell can anybody get that bent out of shape just because they can't play video games online for a while? Can't you masterbate or something? There has got to be something you can do to pass the time.
- brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3I don't see anyone here going AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WTF WTF WTF OMG WTF DO I DOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111111111111
- doxx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1I hear that Limelight Networks caused the failure, that's someone that Microsoft contracted XBox Live to, and they have so many problems... they crash all the time.
- chuuchdizzle, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7was it running on a windows server?
- noob, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4It's down because of an earthquake on the eastern side of Taiwan.
- doodirock2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9There is not proof of that anywhere. Its total speculation.
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6I think that's probably it.
Worst Asian telecommunications disaster in years --> First unexpected Live downtime
Coincidence? I doubt it. - expiredmeatbag, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4no, the tubes are clogged
- SDtektiv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1My old original Xbox stopped working which was disappointing since I had 3 more months left on the account, so don't feel bad because you can still play video games offline! :)
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Yeah.
- Spongebobxxx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0I think it was those sneaky scam artists from Nigeria causing the problems. They are worse than terrorist even worse than than spam!
- SoundJudgment, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2Look at the DATE and Time. This happened YESTERDAY as a side-result of the big Telecommunications Cable break in the Pacific due to the earthquake near Taiwan. OLD NEWS. But it will take time for everything to be rerouted. Yes, it affects connectivity around the world.. not just some small region, Microsoft has to tough it out like everyone else.
- illt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4broke for me an hour ago.. you're wrong.
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually Xbox Live went down today and only about 4 hours ago so its far from old news. The title was a mistype in terms of the time. If you read the article you would see that. Just FYI.
- Whackly, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1No it didn't. It was today. The poster was a dumbass and typo'd the date. Look at when it was posted. I mean, if you're going to be Sherlock Holmes try looking at the clues. I call shenannigans on it anyhow since up until 15 minutes ago I was on video chat via xbox live with some friends with kids waving at each other and crap.
- Whackly, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I don't get it. The two dude above me said the same thing but I get dugg down? I've often though that many diggers only skim the articles and comments and if you use sarcasm, irony, or just state yourself plainly but do so in a way that requires more than 10 words worth of reading they'll dig you down because they don't understand what you're saying. Is that possible?
- camintmier, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Great... I sign up for Xbox Live for the first time on my Xbox 1, and end up breaking Live for everybody... Go ahead and blame me... I know ya want to.
- ThE0eNiGmA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I signed up on Live for the first time at 11:00 at night... and it was all screwy. Managed to get through all the little things, then I found out that my reward is... nothing. Finally played a game at 10:00 in the morning, but its laggy as hell. Could be me though.
- rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2somebody on bungie forums said its back up...
- rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1woops ..! no it's not.
- BadassCheese, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Though it's down, it's still faster than WiiConnect24, it took me like 25 minutes to do a firmware update. WTF?
- KarateExplosion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2If its running that slow, you may wanna switch channels on your router. I had that same problem last week. If it would even connect, it would take absolutely forever to do anything. I switched channels and everything worked great. Something about interferrence from other wireless sources.
Just a thought.
- KarateExplosion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2If its running that slow, you may wanna switch channels on your router. I had that same problem last week. - indiraider2, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Shhhh.... I broke xbox live because i was playing too well. :)
- expiredmeatbag, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1o rly?
- tinbert, on 10/12/2007, -27/+2arent you glad that you have to PAY for such an awesome service :) My Playstation online is still going and its free :) THE PS3 SHALL RISE AGAIN!
- ptcfast2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18The last time Xbox Live was completely down was last year when they were upgrading it to work with the Xbox 360. The announced this about a week in advance to anyone who logged onto live.
The service is robust. Sometimes ***** breaks. Thats when you gotta fix it. Having one year of no downtime is pretty damn good for this type of service. - L4stM4nSt4nding, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Didn't PS3 online just break the other day?
- computerdude33, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Didn't they have it down for a day back in October for general maintenance?
- sputty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0No... no it wont *shakes head patronisingly*
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes, they did have Live down on October 17th. They ran over a bit into the next day too.
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/unions/read_article.php?topic_id=25056502&union_id=3072&print=1 - godfa7h3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have been a LIVE member for around 3 1/2 years now, and this is the very first UNEXPECTED (definition being not planned) outage I have ever experienced. That's pretty damn good if you ask me.
- ptcfast2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18The last time Xbox Live was completely down was last year when they were upgrading it to work with the Xbox 360. The announced this about a week in advance to anyone who logged onto live.
- Geekbeard, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4I have to wonder exactly what we pay Xbox Live for, besides the privilege to play games on our own internet connection. Someone, please explain. Perhaps they have to pay for servers, but why $50/year when Wii and PS3 do it for free?
- ShadowMagic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18because its a much better service?
- bdorry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Right now the only thing my Wii does online is give me the opportunity to.. spend more money. Not really sure that counts as an online gaming service at the moment.
And for the record, I enjoy the system, so don't take this as a slight against it. - therealrico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It is a much better service, and christ it is fifty bucks a year, I think it is pretty friggin reasonable, less than a dollar a week, it does cost money to provide a service like that. I personally don't mind paying if the product is good which it is.
- RandomGuySteve, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0That's like saying anal sex is ok because it's only a little pain in the butt.
I know that when Xbox Live tries to come to PCs it will go over about as well as a wet fart. - posure, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone who asks that question doesn't realize how awesome the Live integration on 360 really is.
Also, I'm looking forward to having to exchange friends codes _again_ with all my friends once SSB Brawl comes out. Didn't Nintendo learn anything about how annoying that was on DS? On XBL, I can invite people to private chat, talk to them outside/inside of games and as we switch games, and once I start a game, its just a simple selecting them from my friends list and selecting "Invite to Game." I will gladly pay $50/yr for that convenience.
- Holosoth, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3Hmm. I sense Microsoft created the earthquake to bring down live. With bringing down live, they can ban all the modders, silence the screechers, and charge us loads of microsoft points to bring the servers back.
- neoian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5You my friend are a dumbass. I thank you for your time.
- Lou3000, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3I pay for this?
I'm hoping that when Wii and PS3 begin to be major players in the online gaming market, 360 has to re-evaluate its pricing structure. Don't we pay enough already for premium content? Or are we getting premium content at all because we pay?
Live has been good, indie developers, incredible integration, very fast connections. But lately there have been some gaping holes.- fugazi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Its down not even 5 hours and you are bitching. Add to the fact that private chats and the friends list is still working its not entirely bad.
- ptcfast2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8What holes? The first time just part of the service goes down for the first time in more than a year. Define these "holes" you speak of please.
- tweak50, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Wow. Seriously ***** happens. Everything breaks now and again, and its not like its been down for some great amount of time.
- rubberpants, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Don't worry. I'm sure Microsoft will be issuing refunds for the downtime.
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26 hours out of 12 months of service time at 50 bucks. What is that? 90c
- tweak50, on 10/12/2007, -0/+490 cents huh...I hope they chip in some extra cents and issue the refund in the form of McChickens!
- thoughtfulclown, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7its actually 10.512 cents.... but i'll stop now.
- bdorry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That's almost one junior bacon cheeseburger...hope it stays down for another couple hours.
nm, thoughtfulclown burst the bubble - pwndwtf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i highly doubt it will last too long
- rubberpants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Obviously, it's a trivial amount. But, if they can accept micro-payments for new in-game content then they can issue micro-refunds. The door should swing both ways.
Can you imagine, Bill Gates sends you $0.10 every time a piece of spam gets through your Exchange server or the windows registry gets corrupted? Even with their huge cash reserves, they'd still go out of business. - atlex2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2ill take my refund in microsoft points please
- travitherabbi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Your account has just been credited 7 Microsoft points."
"WTF?"
- digitallysick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2should have used a linux server? ha, but really to the people that pay for this, i hope you guys get credited
- therealrico, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6XBOX live is down, so long online gaming, hello online porn
- tbeseda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Anyone else sitting in Halo 2 matchmaking, hoping it will start working?
I'm a sad little man, I know.- pwndwtf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2why are u just sitting there...its pointless unless theres an update on it soon
- neoian, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1No, because Halo2 was over after 6 months. Go play a real game you stupid noob.
- pwndwtf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1ok...
- mrchin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow. what a prediction by my original call. But let's digg me down instead... So goes to show how digg works. I'm a noobie poster, so no respect. Whatever.
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You predicted Xbox Live would go down? Microsoft should hire you asap!
- vagrantradio, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Um, check the date settings on your computer because today is the 27th....marked as inaccurate.
- therealrico, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Digged down because you are a retard, look at the friggin article it is a typo, it has only been mentioned like twenty times so far by other people
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4yeah, I mention it right at the top of the post. It was a mistake and the article gives all the correct info. Read before posting, it helps.
- Diggthisahole, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You should learn to check your ***** before you excitedly hit submit. OMG! I'm gonna be on Digg!
- KrazyKoala, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I also cannot connect to my MSN messenger on any computer in the house now, even though other internet tasks work. Has this happened to anybody? I'm wondering if the issue affecting LIVE is affecting MSN Messenger.
- BlackKnight6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My Windows Live Messenger is fine. My Xbox live, however, lets me do everything but play online game modes.
- aazn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Let's recap:
Title was a mishap and it happened 12/27/06
Even though this is 12/28/06 because it's 12:02 AM here.
Lots of people are like "OMFG PS3 + WII = FREE SERVICE WOOT" but everyone who has a brain knows that you can't do JACK with anything else:
Xbox
-Silver:
--Everything but Online Gaming
--Free
-Gold:
--Premium Content
--Online Gaming
--$50 A year - Less than ***** RuneScape
--Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Offline Ownage.
Wii and PS3
-Free
-Content (how much? Unknown. Probably ~500MB of trailers and ~2 MB of "arcade" games.
-No Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved
-Web Browser (Okay, I admit, Xbox should have this. Gimmick!)
-Online Gaming
Winner: Xbox
If only Xbox made a web browser, it would be PERFECT!
Oh, and Xbox Live came out WAY before PS2's "online multiplayer." None of Nintendo's consoles had internet before the DS.
Don't take me wrong, I've owned one of each of the giants' consoles. Xbox, PS2, Xbox 360, N64, Gamecube, PS1, I've had my fair share of them all. I have to agree that Xbox 360's service is superior.
Besides, since there are more Xbox 360 fans than Wii + PS3 in this digg, this will get bumped up more than down.
Oh, @tsbesta, Yes, I was sitting in Matchmaking. Then I stopped.
@Anyone that mentioned Private Chats: Thanks.- hammydude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5wait, what? does that have any relevancy or even make any sense at all?
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually, SOCOM (online for PS2) came out a month before Xbox Live came up. And I personally played Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 online on the PS2 before Live came out for Xbox (and before SOCOM came out).
So, no, Xbox Live didn't come out before PS2 online. - xenovis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1He meant "good" online multiplayer
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah, THPS3 online kinda sucked. It would kick you out to the lobby after every match. You know, like Lost Planet does.
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3So the wii and the PS3 allows you to play with others online for free and then you mention all the "other features that makes live unique. Thats great for you but I would rather be able to play online for free then have anyone who likes those other features to pay for it. This is really the point, regaurdless of quality of service or stability the main staple is playing online. Knock it all you want but the WII and the PS3 are doing something that the 360 should.
- kirbysuperstar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"None of Nintendo's consoles had internet before the DS."
Except, you know, the GameCube (albeit pretty much only for PSO). And the 64DD had online paved for it too.
If you're going to be an *****, at least get your facts straight.
- litheon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Here's my thoery:
Xbox Live is currently under high load due to the increasing number of users from the purchases of Xbox 360s, original Xboxes, Xbox Live subscriptions, and Xbox Live games. With all of this Xbox Live is probably running at an above-average load. Assuming that the Xbox Live servers around the world are redundant it's also safe to say that the recent internet problems surfacing in Taiwan are forcing a large quantity of Xbox Live traffic destined for the Asia-pacific servers to those in the United States or others in Europe.
I'm certain this problem has absolutley nothing to do with a virus or anything of that sort. It's just load that is highly above average.- aazn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Linux owns too much to be "overloaded" by this silly Halo business.
Tux just deflects the Asian packets and moves on; they didn't need the energy sword anyway.

- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2The expansion in Live customers has been near insignificant this Xmas. Maybe 15% tops.
Sony and Nintendo saw a lot bigger jumps (50%? more?) on Xmas and had no problems.
Given that Live is generally so reliable, I doubt a mere 15% bump in users knocked it off.- willyallthewei, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5That's an interesting comment considering GOW increased live subscriptions by 50%. So by your arithmetic, the rest of Xbox live plummeted 35%?
Good job. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That article said it was an increase in Live TRAFFIC by 50%, not subscribers. And they propose it was Gears of War, it may have been the movie service or something else.
Go read it again.

- kewlrichie, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1the real question here is obviously....was jesus black?
- 4g1vn, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Playstation network was only down for a couple of hours when it released the GT:HD demo. This sounds serious, but no worries, it's Microshaft and it's ignorant consumers don't really mind this disruption. Now just take your downtime and continue to bash the PS3 because you can't afford one.
- DarkPhoen1x, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2actually, I have about 2000$ extra saved up at the moment...I just try to avoid wasting it on systems that are sub-par.
- joe1059, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2That sux, cause I just got done playing a friend at Madden online with my PS3. Oh, wait... and it's a *FREE* service. Kinda sux for all you with douche boxes. I hope M$ will send you a refund for your downtime, it's only fair.
- alienSkull, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11they better be giving you free service after charging you $600 for a brick
- dugon666, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2fyi for future posts; if you're going to say something fanboyish about the ps3, you will get dugg down.
- RiverBelow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4If it is an update, please God, let it be Group Chat!! =DDD
@ joe1059
Are you an idiot?PS3 online doesn't even have voice conversations, friends lists, messages, or the ability to invite friends to a game. Nice "ONLINE", Might as well go out in my backyard and yell for people to come play soccer with me.- DarkPhoen1x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that would be kickass. however I highly doubt it; update downtime is announced beforehand generally.

THANKS FOR THE DISINFORMATION RIVERBELOW, you are a hero to the inept :P - apoc06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what are you talking about? the PS3 has every single one of those features free.
- akshay626, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1People pay $50 a year for this? I would expect something like this with the PS3 network as i wouldn't be paying for it.
- eMximeR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, a whopping 50$ a year, people lost a few hours of being able to play XBL. At .5 cents an hour, its nothing major. I bet you don't even have XBL either.
- RiverBelow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@akshay626
Yeah, because servers NEVER need maintenances and are permanantly immune to common problems.
Oh wait, no they're not. It's a ***** weekday evening-overnight without Xbox Live... come on, I just got Rainbow Six Vegas and the single player as great, and I don't make a habit of playing games at 2 AM, so plz, just go to bed if you're going to bitch about a service that you don't even have being down all NIGHT. Not like it's down in the afternoon when most of us with no life are playing... - bunnymanjp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4god people calm down its not the end of the world
read a book, watch tv or something - cavie2002, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1My Bratz clan is NOT gonna be happy with this.
- Beyond31, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0So Microsofts servers aren't in North America ? So what are they doing basically out sourcing all the customrs funds paying for the online service to Asia ? Kudos for being a a Xbox 360 supporters you ***** Sheep !!!!!
My PS3 is working great with it's free online service and guess what everything is working peachy keen :)
SUCK MY NUTS Xbox cry babies !!!! karmas a Bitch !!!- damnyooneek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1i ***** hate outsourcing. i called microsoft about my xbox 360 headset today and got to speak to some indian lady. i couldnt understand a damn thing she was saying and she couldnt understand me. outsourcing is cheaper but not efficient. people need to some how come together and get these profit hungry bastard to realize its screwing over american customers and workers.
- RiverBelow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@Beyond
Yeah I'm just gonna invite a friend to a game of Gears of War tomorrow afternoon. Then talk to them, BECAUSE I CAN. Enjoy talking.. well, not talking, enjoy playing with strangers!
*I'd love to see team Rainbow Six Vegas on PS3 online b/c there's no talking, therefore no strategizing so it would be a fat mess... just like the PS3 itself.
EDIT: Just tried to get on. Success, there you go fat bitches, it's back up. Man, I lost almost 8 hours of the however milion hours in a year, WHAT DO I DO???- damnyooneek, on 10/12/2007, -3/+224 x 365 isnt a million.
- apoc06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what are you talking about? there is voice via the playstation network. if you would actually sit down and look at the service you are bashing, you would see that not all, but many of the xbox live featureset is available on the PS3 as well.
- Beyond31, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gee when Guitar Hero has the actual guitar for the PS2 and the 360 doesn't that says it all. I don't need or want a friends list i won';t use or need to see someone giving me the finger or naked pics of themselves or raciest assholes on Xbox live to enjoying gaming ass lick !!! I just want a challenge other than the computer i don't need to know the back ground or make friends with some ass clown i want to battle just to enjoy a game !!
Continue on with your false beliefs Microsoft feeds you , you ***** sheep !!!
- RiverBelow, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5yeah it is. View my calculations
24x365 = 1 million.- damnyooneek, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1youre an idiot stfu now.
- PRlME, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is why Microsoft wants to get its hands on linux...ahhh it all makes sense now.!!!
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The article now states that Xbox Live is back and fully functional. No explanation of why it happened. Just FYI
- nomski, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Awesome, been playing custom games til Live came back. Am I the only one here still playing Halo? =(
