- Nethid, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14It's good to hear that we will finally get some new quality arcade games for the PC. I am just really hoping that the games I bought on Xbox Live can be re downloaded on the PC for free.
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10What of the original content like Wing Commander: Arena, Geometry Wars, Bug War, Aegis Wing, Bomberman LIVE, Carcassonne, Catan and and and and? The XBLA is delivery a lot of new, never-seen-before games... not just the classics.
- terminalpariah, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6This should have been their Games for Windows Live strategy from the beginning. The XBLA catalog has plenty of games that are equally playable on a keyboard/mouse setup or on a controller. Just release Windows Live Arcade, tie it in to Windows Live Messenger and make the matchmaking as seamless as it is on the Xbox.
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4The LIVE for Windows and LIVE for Xbox 360 are going to converge, and quick. Then, I wholly expect MSN games to become a portal for them both... All three are going to converge.
- terminalpariah, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Don't count on it. MSN Games resells Geometry Wars for $9, versus $5 on Xbox and $3 on Steam. :|
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2GFW Live will never take off because PC players won't pay for online features. 1st party titles will be the only ones that use the service.
- chris9902, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2no it won't be on XP. Xbox Live doesn't run on it (Game for Windows Live... whatever you want to call it)
- danjal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1can sombody find an original image of that one on the sight? http://gamernode.com/upload/Article%20Image/vistaguys1187135721.jpg i honestly want it so i can make it my wallpaper!
- kayjay, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1who gibes a *****? you can just download any emulator and play the games on XBL for free.
- xino, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sega, Eidos and THQ have signed on to include Games for Windows - Live in their upcoming games. Epic Games also included this service into their game engine Unreal Engine 3 [4]. Universe at War: Earth Assault from Sega is to include cross platform play between Xbox 360 and Windows over Live.
I got this from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Games_for_Windows_-_Live - xino, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually they are tied to both. If you buy some content from Xbox Live, offline, you can only use it on the Xbox 360 you bought it on and with any profile on it. If you move the hard drive to another X360, then it won't work unless you are signed into the account that bought it.
- ahnonamis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Games for Windows Live is supposed to run on XP by the end of the year.
http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,2158204,00.asp - android8675, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Vista only i'm sure, there's been no annoucement that Games for Windows "Live" would come out on XP. If you ask on the Microsoft.public newsgroups, all the "Microsoft MVPs" will laugh at how great Vista's new networking virtualization is and that XP could never run an IM client or encrypt network traffic securely... blab blab blab...
I call *****, but in the end it's Microsoft's party, they are free to run it as they see fit. I would like to see Games for Windows Live really take off, but I don't think that'll happen until more games come out for it, and Microsoft eases up on the requirements. I guess someone took over the Games for Windows dept recently. Maybe he'll start making some changes to save the investment.
Thank god there's still Steam. :) Go Valve! - toxicityj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1read the article before you waste space posting. Its coming out for XP too.
- law1ess, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I liked it when it was called M.A.M.E.
- knupso, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2If it's Vista only I'm thinking it will. You can already play cross platform games on live using your same account. Your purchases are tied to your live account and not the console. I'm holding on to a bit of hope. :)
- MCHampster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yes, I'm really hoping for two games to be available: UNO & Settlers of Catan. I'd really like to be able to play these games online with my wife, but I don't want to purchase another 360 for that. I have plenty of computers that could easily handle these games though. And yes, I know at least Settlers is already available on the PC, but I want to be able to play with other friends on Live.
- Ashkc88, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dude, I have all of the games on emulators too, but the HD graphics upgrade and Xbox Live play is well worth the few extra bucks.
- KniteWulf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I want Hexic!!
- LoughranShannon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0All lovely things will have an ending, All lovely things will fade and die; And youth, that's now so bravely spending, Will beg a penny by and by.
- SteveThePlank, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3I guess that's pretty cool for the exclusive XBLA games, but for the rest... Emulators ftw?
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Thats how its done for the Xbox 360 I believe.
- LordSlashstab55, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0I don't believe it for one second that it'll be available for xp. Look at that background.
- UPGR4Y3DD, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2Emulators and roms, baby. That's all you need.
