- GhostToon, on 10/12/2007, -5/+59Crap now I need to get a keyboard for my 360 so I can IM all my idiotic friends while playing games. I am going to have to learn to type with my feet so I can actually play my games at the same time.
- GhostToon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+53Dude it does that for downloads while your sleeping. Its basically off to you and the average passerby but its on on the inside while it downloads your *****. Its so you don't have to hear the damn fans while you download movies and demos overnight....while you sleep. It doesn't turn the fans off while your playing games or actually using the system.
- DavidGX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35Ok, where the hell is the tweak that changes the "Play Game" text to "Play *insert name of game in the console here*" ??
- greenmountain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3010:14?
- Skavenblight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31The Xbox 360 is looking like a pretty good purchase. I think I'll have to get one. :)
I don't think the console really needs a browser now. While webcam chat can be useful before games with clanmates, the browser really has no connection to gaming on a console. Besides, if I want to go on the internet, I can always walk four feet to my computer. - Hydroxyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29XBL vision camera + headset = talk to people via webcam, possibly.
- wageslaven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27you know MSN Messenger has voice and video chat right?
- AndyVenus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25I think that it will still start on the live blade like usual, starting on marketplace would make no sense at all.
- PAJK, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28Thank God. Do you REALLY want Internet Explorer ***** up your XBOX? Cos I know they won't be shipping Firefox or Opera!
- Ashkc88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23@bartboy
Hopefully they will allow us to delete games on the games list, that way I can delete the games I sold (Perfect Dark) that I have 2 achievements for, I can delete the trial games from XBLA with 0 achievements, and I can delete the games that I rented or borrowed. - citrusfizz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Web browser = pornotube browsing from your couch.
- uthaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21@jjcdad
Look up a free download called TVersity. It converts every codec known to man on the fly so that it can stream from a windows PC to a 360. - gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Same reason people text on phones they could speak on instead.
- s-m-a-c-k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18comprehend much?
- sampson123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I think it was always scheduled for Fall of this year.
- nunbot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16great, any other information about your likes/dislikes you'd like to share with us?
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15The CPU is probably throttled down to 10% clockspeed or so, and the GPU turned off. Thus "low power", no need for fans.
- TheFinestShadow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14FINALLY! Chat with more than one person at a time. That was a huge drawback for the personal chat up until now.
- johnnevermind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Dear Bill, please give us a fix for the washed out VGA.
- otatop, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Is there a way to change the order of the blades? Because I'm not a big fan of the idea of booting my 360 directly into the Live Marketplace blade.
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10They didn't list one of the obscure changes you can see by watching the video, that being the 'What are you friends playing now' thing in the XBLA and I think the tweak you mentioned would be even less important than that.
- heinousjay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I don't care about browsing from my 360 because it's useless for me. I already have a computer hooked up to the tv, and I have a laptop that's never more than 3 feet away as well. I use the 360 to play games, not browse the web.
I do like how you segued into insults, though. Shame you suck at it. Hopefully you'll get better towards the end of puberty. - greenmountain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9While downloading the machine is coasting, using very little CPU, so the cooling is not necessary.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Whoops. I meant 16:10, I don't know where the ***** that other ratio came from.
Carry on. - conmulligan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Or transcode360 (http://www.runtime360.com) if you've got media center. Even works with Vista.
- Anpheus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8My headset broke and I had to use the "Send Message" functionality to talk with a friend. We had a great time, though communication was much slower because the 360's message system lacks IM functionality. As such, chatting during a game was impossible, and outside of a game it was tedious.
MSN chat is essentially further strengthening the link between Windows Live and Xbox Live. Ever notice the similarity in the names? - PAJK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I would also like to express my happiness with this update.
- CyrusG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7So my entire msn list will see what game I am playing all day?
Uhhh... sweet. - citrusfizz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6i just hope they dont (aren't able to) do anything to us Firmware Flashers
- Zero2aHero, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14Great.... MSN chat, the only feature more useless than a web browser. Why would anyone chat with a keyboard on a console that has a headset?
- dustysquareback, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5$8 Belkin USB keyboard works fine, just fyi.
- SonicPower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@bartboy14: The reason that Live Arcade games show up on your account because if you decide to purchase them, achievements that you locked in the trial will be unlocked. For example, if you beat the first TMNT level under 2 minutes, that is an achievement, but if you have not purchased it, it hasn't been completely unlocked. Only until you purchase it will an achievement show up.
Hopefully, MS will fix this by just not having the achievement feature in demo mode. - Boomh4u3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6decent update
- UberC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Yes, please. And 1680x1050 while you're at it.
- CyrusG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Who uses the tabs?
We'll see how this is implemented, but a feature that I've longed for is friend groups. I wish I could separate my friends/family from random people I've met online. - Blizaine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5and don't forget, it's your local cable company and/or telco that is going to have to support and implement Microsoft's IPTV solution. So I wouldn't expect it anytime soon, even if the dashboard gets updated with the ability.
- EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Do you mean 16:10?
- DocFunBags, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah because converting movies and videos you haven't paid for into WMV is such a hassle.
- mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You know the 360 supports USB keyboards, right?
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is just a thought but you could just tell them to ***** off...
- griffon2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Why should turning off the fans in low power mode be an overheating danger? PC's do it all the time. I'm glad to finally hear the 360 will have it too. It'll help with the HD movie downloads. It a big convenience boost.
MSN messenger chat and friends list is a nice add on and it's about time Marketplace got its own blade with all the content it has now. I was just thinking recently about how times I use the back button with navigating just the marketplace. Good to know Microsoft has it's eye on continuing improvement of Live. - citrusfizz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Felshadow: "not that i really want a browser on it, but, the way my house is set up, my room has one ethernet cable, for 360 or pc"
why not just put an extra nic card in your pc and bridge the connection to your 360? - gconeen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4they did say they're thinking about bringing in voice chat for that too. so at least they're acknowledging that people want that.
- pharmd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If iPTV is what you want go hither www.itvn.com
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What about voice chat with multiple people.
- aqeousdan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was hoping they would add support for 1440x900 widescreen monitors this time around but alas they haven't. *cry*
Also is there any way to change your xbox profile so you have a different MSN passport associated with it? I foolishly put in one that doesn't have all my MSN friends on it. - xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't agree. The low power downloading mode can really help a lot of people. There have been many times I'm aware something is on the marketplace before I go to work, but I need to wait until after work to download it because I don't want my 360 running all day. This will help tremendously for the people who want to download without having to be around when the download finishes to turn off their 360.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have a wireless keyboard hooked up to my xbox.. chatting with it would be excellent and useful.
