- tksownz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4its hacked for you information, because now we have full access to it, however, it is not "hacked" in the sense that you guys are thinking of because you like to break the law. Great digg, and don't post and use words that you do obviously do not know the meaning of or what context to use them in. . . .
RJ G. - chriszma666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For anyone that thinks the title is innacurate is full of *****. It says it is 'hacked' that doesn't mean that they have found a way to back up games and play them and created a little app for every non-tech noob to pirate games. It means they have done something to the system which was not intended. Props to them, and anyone bad mouthing them needs to shut up.
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3hack
1. (verb) To write program source code. Also called "hacking." Often refers to writing a small program or adding code to an existing program to solve a problem in a hurry. A hack also implies writing in a programming language rather than a macro language or other high-level language oriented to the user. See hacker.
2. (noun) Program source code. You might hear a phrase like "nobody has a package to do that, so it must be done through some sort of hack." This means someone has to write programming code to solve the problem, because there is no pre-written routine or function that does it. See hacker.

- knightmare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1can you ghost the drive to a 100 gb hd?
- replica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Before people try to launch crazy ideas again: No this does not allow you to copy retail games (signed for XBOX360DVD media only) to the HD and play them. It's a tool that gives you access to the Xbox 360 HD and Memcard from a PC, it does not hack/bypass any security.
- masterdebater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Props to them, and anyone bad mouthing them needs to shut up."
Props to you for saying exactly what I was thinking. There is no way to negotiate with the legions of 12 year old leet wanna-be script kiddies. The process of natural elimination will take care of this in the long run anyways. - drn666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For all of those saying "this is lame", etc... The ability write save files to your 360 HD is the first step in finding a game that you can sucessfully trigger overrun problems on. That said, the 360, iirc, uses some hardware memory checking to make sure people aren't doing just that, so this may be moot.
- tksownz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1finally another voice of reason
RJ G. - leftyfb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The website where this software was developed and can be downloaded is http://www.360gamesaves.com
- Dragonis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol, somtimes, Evil is GOOOOOOD.
- lazyguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, if we do a ghost of the xb360 drive and throw it into a standard 160 drive and replace... cheap HD?
- BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder how long until we can just host our own servers and eschew the whole Live thing.
- Dragonis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0But this is a good step towards being able to softmod .
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Full Read/Write HDD Access" right in the title... seems accurate to me. Awesome work, and just another step in the right direction to a fully hacked 360
- warhammerelf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Any progress with the XBox 360 is good.
- digitarius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm.
So will this let me format my own 2.5" SATA HD for use with the Xbox 360? No? Good job, but I don't care yet. Let me know when I should drop the eighty bucks on a 200 gig HD from Newegg. - acemilo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Title is misleading and I've known about this app for a few days already. You still have to rip apart your hd enclosure and void it's warranty to use this, so if you ***** it up you're out $100. No digg.
- scottauth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Excuse my limited knowledge...
However, the arcade games are Flash games or atleast based on flash correct? Is it possible to load Flash games downloaded from the web onto the XBox? - MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet, now to get movies and the works to play.
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hopefully this will be a step in the direction of using our own larger-capacity 2.5" (or is it 1.8"?) HDDs, since the 360 uses a relatively small HDD for what you pay for it ($100).
- ScottBod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Still waiting for the bios to be flashed and playability of backup discs to become available.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sooo.. no seccurity bypass. meh.
- RedZeppelin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is cool! I'm going to run out and buy a 360 so I can do this. Oh, wait...
- dkleehammer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I can't wait to have script kiddies with 360s modding me on Live now, I was really depressed that it was only Xbox script kiddies.
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I played around with this, it looks like a very promising program. There were some problems with folders that I was having so I'm going to try beta 2 later tonight. I am hoping to copy all my halo 2 from my xbox to the 360.
- deepsub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1""Illegal stuff is called 'cracking'."
I hate to tell you grimdotdotdot but in these times any modification to any proprietary system is illegal and by your definition hacking (or modifying a product to do something it was not intended to do by the manufacturer) is cracking."
I've been around longer than most of you, but not as long as some, but I think it's safe to say, that in the Geekiverse, hacking is generally defined as 'acceptable' reverse engineering, whereas cracking, while techincally similar to hacking, is reverse engineering that fellow hackers would frown upon.
Linus Torvalds and Steve Wozniak are prototypical hackers, whereas 'crackers' usually are subversive and are not well known because their activities are illegal. - antipro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah its a nice step forward.
I'm still waiting for bigger hardrives to come out. - Kinsbane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So like, does this mean someone can upload the Hexic HD game for me to download and play, since I deleted mine when I first got it? :o
- stoops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yo Gene, do you HACK man?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0only things that deserve to be HACKed
- thund3rstruck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Illegal stuff is called 'cracking'."
I hate to tell you grimdotdotdot but in these times any modification to any proprietary system is illegal and by your definition hacking (or modifying a product to do something it was not intended to do by the manufacturer) is cracking. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What would be useful, would be if you could play DivX or other non-approved media types on this machine. I'm tired of seeing a Mixed Media Disc label and not being able to play these files.
- andreo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great, just great. Now every on-line raceing game will have morons playing with the fastest car in the game only hours after they bought it. Not because they were able to breeze through the game, but because they found a game save site.
Perhaps I'm just getting old. But I hope that MS fixes this. And on a personal note, I think I'll stay away from any hacks on the 360 until it's been out for awhile. I have no intention on getting my console banned from Live... just yet. - FroggMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For all of you that see this as good news, keep in that there is a downside. Specifically, this does little more than let you read/write your X360 save files. If these are hacked (and they will be), the mostly likely use for this will be to enabled cheats / hacks to advance in games. In the situation of XBOX Live and it's achievement system, this could create havoc for the rest of us honest players.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is very good. We seem to be well on the way to a softmod.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I hate it when almost all of the recent Engadget stories end up on the front page of Digg. What's the point? Like no one here reads Engadget. It's like having 2 duplicate sites running the same stories. Completely ruins the point of Digg. Let's try Digging some stuff that other people are not posting, shall we? That way, there's a reason to even bother coming here.
- cubbieco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Sigh.
Do we care? For the vast minority of people waiting in line to tear their hard drive out of the XBox to change the save games this might be useful info. Otherwise this doesn't do anything for anybody. This is not a step in any direction. They are no closer to running home-brew programs. Accessing a hard drive that you have to take out of the xbox is not a big deal.
Wow. I bought a new game. Cool. I put a better save on my hard drive. Repeat every time you buy a game... - Anthrox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0lame digg its not a hack it just filesystem support that is based on the xbox1 system in a way but still a leap in the right way
- mkjones, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Inaccurate title, but good story still no Digg.
- verucasalt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Uh, this is not "hacked" but nice try
- knightmare, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0hey moronic paranoid froggman....first who cares about acheivments...i could care less what you think of my gaming skills.....second, if you read the article you would see that is not possible becuase achivements are stored with our live accounts....not locally....DUH......so please spare us all your stupid comments
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Please dig this:
http://www.digg.com/science/Seeking_a_potential_Marrow_Donor - xerox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0miss leading title.
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0dupe of the day
- SimonX314, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Inaccurate
- mooninite, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Inaccurate title reported.
Who cares about the 360 anyway? It's the pinnacle of evil (eg. eBay, Bill Gates). - snypa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0its crap

What is Digg?
