- mojorojoe, on 10/12/2007, -5/+70Upon further examination it was determined that the xbox 360 elite is so advanced that it broke it's own street date on a conquest to enslave all the humans so it can have the highest achievement score xbox live has ever known
- Solkre, on 10/12/2007, -2/+54I hope that BLACK sticker doesn't offend Al Sharpton.
Obviously it's racist profiling and labeling. Nappy Headed Xbox! - winnopeg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38That one was submitted after this one. That 1KrazyKorean ***** steals everyone's stories.

- vwvwvw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18"What the hell are they thinking up there in Redmond?"
They're thinking the Xbox 360 Elite will be purchased by people who want more HD space and a DVI connection. For everyone else, there's still the Premium and the Core. They're thinking the new HD will be offered seperately so current owners can upgrade. They're thinking that even with the new price, they're still cheaper than the PS3. - d3m3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12"And there is no reason other than greed that Microsoft doesn't allow the other 360 SKUs to upgrade their harddrives."
They're selling the 120 hd, in gray nonetheless.

I can tell you what they're thinking. Same thing they always think:
"$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - lopla, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Sorry but you are out of luck. xbox360 resources have been pulled to speed up completion of the pink Zune.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -19/+25I'd pay $500 to have Xbox Live instead of getting a half-arsed service like Sony's.
- Matrix_Prime, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9if it "sounds less"? what the hell does that mean?
You mean, "isn't as loud"? - bladzalot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Some people are jazzed to pick this up for the HDMI capability. Me for example, I have a 67" Samsung DLP and when I use the VGA cables so that I can upscale DVD's, I get a 2" black border around my screen. Hours with tech support with Microsnatch and Samsung have proven futile. I am seriously stoked to see if I can eliminate this problem with HDMI.
Furthermore, for all those of you complaining about price, I am still puzzled. Ya see, there is this whole generation of us that grew up on videogames, went on to be successful computer nerds, and we have the money to but stuff like this. As much as they avoid this answer, they charge big bucks for technology these days cause people like me are shelling out the cash to get it for us, and our spoiled kids, THAT is why they can get away with a PS3 for $650 after tax.
Yes it is completely insane, but it is idiots like us, that have to have all the techie gear, that are fueling the constanly skyrocketing prices of game consoles and other technology. The only thing I have a huge problem with is the cost of games. It does not cost any more money to produce a good game today, then it did on the PS2, or Xbox. Raising the cost of the games is just greed. If they would provide a quality game like Gears, or Resistance, they sell enough copies to not have to worrie about offending their customers by charging $60 a game, that is just crazy...
On a side note, that Al Sharpton comment made me laugh out loud, that is freakin hilarious... - TrainwreckX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So what is the actual street date?
- Mephistocles, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6They are these crazy aliens charged with protecting the Prophets and the covenant, that is until the positions was usurped by the brutes of course
- Laqueefa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While it's pretty cool that someone got the Elite early, Target might be in trouble. Just yesterday at work I saw an email that said if you see any vendors breaking the street date rule to call some 1-800 number and report them.
- dolemite5005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A buddy of mine picked one up at Wal-Mart today.
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2dotq: Yeah, just like the Core system is green, right?
- Razman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@bladzalot
Just curious about your border issue, doesn't that make sense?
The 360 upscales to 720 for regular DVDs... so if you have your 360 set to 1080i/p would there not be a border around the 720p image it is trying to display?
Have you checked if the border exists with the 360 set to 720p and then play a regular DVD in it?
I haven't gotten the vga cable yet, but am interest in trying out, but if that is the results of upscaling... I think I'll pass. - BurntToast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not surprised. They already have the black-colored accessories (including a pack that has a wireless controller, play-and-charge kit, and rechargable battery pack) at Fry's. It's $69.99.
- Sebach, on 10/12/2007, -12/+13The hunt for Sarah Connor continues.
- avasol, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7@Matrix_Prime
I mean why does it make so much noise. It's a well known problem and you'd have to be deaf not to hear the DVD spin or the HD axis moving, not to mention the loud ass fan.
I'm asking if its' fixed in the Elite. Concerned consumerists want to know if these obvious problems have been fixed. - crashingechelon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that ebay auction is retarded, someones actually going to be 900 dollars or more for something thats coming out next week
- bladzalot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ raleigh29
I think I tried that, and that mine will not resize the screen when in VGA mode, but I will totally try that when I get home. Another stupid thing is that Samsung does not let you "tweak" the pic on VGA, so contrast, brightness, color, tint, sharpness controls are all disabled, another reason I want HDMI :-) - bladzalot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ Razman
Yeah, we tried that, same story, all 8 or 9 resolutions that the 360 let you set it for did the same thing, the border was there. I know I could go into the technician menu on my tv and tweak it, but I really do not want to void the warranty on such a pricey set.
SO, I also play some dvd's, for example "Finding Nemo" plays upscaled beautifully, just has the border. Then I throw in "The Departed" and it seriously looks like it is streaming over the internet (looks horrific).
I was checking out AVSFORUMS.com and there are many people stating compatibility issues with some TV's, Lot's of Sony's on the list, did not see my Samsung, but I have to assume the amount of 67" Samsung DLP's in use with a 360 with VGA cable are probably pretty low, so there are not too many people with my issue. The good thing about all the comments, is that using HDMI will send a strictly digital signal to the set, in which the set knows exactly what to do with it, so we shall see :-) - GhostToon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As a former Target employ I can tell you that its always the managers that accidentally sell ***** early. They never check to make sure the date matches the date on the bright orange tape and then someone tells them after they sell half the stock early.

That's another one! What are these people thinking! - wageslaven, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Not THAT tired old FUD:
See here son;
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/15/wii-noisier-than-xbox-360-and-ps3-says/
By the way, that analysis was done _before_ Microsoft make the unit even more quiet by changing the drive to a whisper-quiet model. So, the results would put XBox 360 even LESS quiet than Wii & XBox. - NeoOfTheSith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Look! Paizuri has a new name!
- pcminute, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Some TV's, like my Sony KDS-60a2000, only accept 1080p over HDMI.
Now if the Elite will allow up-converting standard def DVD's from the HD-DVD addon via HDMI, I'll be all set! - RJNavarrete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You're obviously not.
- BobsYourUncle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4@ wageslaven
But if one doesn't own a Wii or PS3, then the XBox360 is loud. It's not FUD if it is actually loud. My 360 is certainly louder than my PS2. So complaining about the noise is legitimate. And if I ever get a PS3 and it's loud, I'll complain about that too. - BobsYourUncle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Speaking of FUD... that linked article is terrible.
Here's the original 'report': http://www.pregamelobby.com/forum/view_console_loudness.htm
I'm no audio engineer, but the reasonable comments of some lead me to question the results of the test. Personal experience would also trump whatever the report seems to imply. - wageslaven, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Can't talk now. Off to Target to see if my location made the same mistake -- good for me owners, not good for people without a local Target. :)
- Mimizan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've read all the comments.. seems to me there are a lot of monkey-minded fuds trying to outsine each other with their collective wit .. not one of you has noticed that this guy and me have the same carpet .. now that's what I call synchronicity (don't care if I messed up the spelling).
- crappyatticus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Man those Microsoft employee's are crafty. "Hmmm, black box, black system, listing of included items with 'Black ____' before them. How else can we say it?"
"I know sir! We could implement a piece of paper with an adhesive backend and write 'Black' on the front of it!"
"You know something Jones? I think you may just be on to something." - s0m3guy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i dont really know how this guy got this. i work for target and the DC's werent even receiving product for them until the 18th. In total target ordered 8500 elites. My store hasnt received any yet, and no shipment date has been set for my store either. Though everything else about this checks out. The DPCI (target only SKU) is correct (207/21/0004) as is everything else. Just strange that the store he purchased this at had them when most stores havent received them yet. This store could be ridiculously close to a DC though.

I have a samsung DLP also and had the same issue. Hit the "P. Size" button on your remote. it will come up with some options to resize your screen when using VGA.
Hope that helps - formulathree, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1
I'm not sure what's worse - the street date being broken or some idiot actually purchasing Xbox 360 V2.0 - TheMysteryCow, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3@nocturnalis
Seeing as the last episode of the season was on last night, and the Elite won't be even remotely topical when the show comes back on... I'd venture a "no." - Radar5, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2wtf ever. I want one, but the extra cost isn't really worth it for built-in HDMI and a new color.
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Not the first time I've seen the words "broken" and "xbox360" on the same sentence.
- mt066, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2they actually called it elite? As in 1337??'
Oh whoops people have already said this. I LIKE PIE!! - GruntboyX, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2anyone think elite should have been spelled l33t ?
But seriously is there any difference between HD over component and HD over hdmi? I guess theoretically yes because HDMI you get the advantages of a digital signal and therefore error correction, but can anyone attest to actual improvement in picture quality? I know on my tv the difference between composite and component is staggering; the black balance levels are way different. Anyone? - OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Good for this guy
- chuzbox, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0i'd rather use 1337
- kjones23, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1the nice thing about HDMI is that it carries both sound and video in one cable... but both can handle all the way up to 1080i
- mustard, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Despite the ridiculous price (TCO), and overpackaging (why do I need to pay extra for them to stuff HDMI/compo/ethernet cables into the box?), and yearly Live subscription, and lack of built-in HD-DVD, I'm still thinking about getting one.
