- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Screw work, I'm downloading every trailer in 720P while playing Geometry Wars Evolved!!!
- LanceWindu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Go to the System Blade>>Console Settings>>Audio>>Sound Effects>>Disable Sound Effects
- djdigital, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Got the update also, downloads on marketplace seem to be faster....anyone else?
This is a great update. The boot options are great and the DL manager is awesome. - GunFingers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Took me about 1 min here in Chicago, and I've got to say, it's a very welcome update. Probably just as welcome by advertisers, as I downloaded more movie trailers this morning than I have since I bought the box in November. It was great to start an album, que up a bunch of downloads, and play Table Tennis without anything being interrupted in any fashion. Excellent.
- Bookwrym, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Update time was about 3 minutes on the east coast, worked like a charm.
- stubadub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Don't log into xbox live.
- Mastershredder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I can't wait to get home from work today! I'm just curious what full USB keyboard support means.
- siq1ne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6west coast -- sacramento, ca., literally at 2am i got it.
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I presume that, just like the PSP, there's probably an advantage to having an earlier version of the OS if one ever wants to mod one's system. Does anybody know if this is specifically true for this version? If so, what's the best way to delay installation of the patch?
- mustache, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5They'll probably put in a web browser around the time the PS3 comes out.
All of these updates are all the things I've been complaining about since I got the damned overheating thing. Glad they fixed em.
Now, only if they could make it just slightly less loud than a jet engine taking off when I'm running a game, then we're talkin. - rocke86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I don't think not logging into live will prevent the patch from installing. I'm fairly sure that MS will put the patch on newer game discs so those without broadband can get the patch. So I guess you are safe only if you avoid live and new games.
- GunFingers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I had downloads running just fine when playing Table Tennis offline. The only time downloads should pause is if you are playing a game online.
- viewsource, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Any chance some one can verify whether streaming a DVD over the network, works yet?
Thanks. - jonnyeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No video streaming (without Windows MCE), probably ever. I don't think this update affects the MCE extender portion of the 360, just the dashboard
Why would you want to stream a DVD movie anyways? Apparently, this update improves the quality of DVD movie playback (haven't tried it myself yet) - Kev1000000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Its about damn time! Unfortunatley, ill be at work all day tomorrow... =(
- xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3woooo, i didn't know there was so MANY updates. it's gonna make Live less frustrating.
- triPzZz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3im at work and can't view xbox.com ARGH. can some1 PLS post the 125 updates here? thank you in advance!
- mkjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Xbox 360 Web Browser:
http://www.anpark.com/software.aspx
You need MCE version of windows but thats hardly a challenge to get hold of.
It also has full keyboard and mouse support. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"* Better support for Xbox 360 game disc recognition"
Wonder if this is referring to the DVD firmware hack... - FourDoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It has been confirmed that the 360 will now upconvert SD DVDs to 720p if you are using the VGA connection. If you are using component, you are still stuck at 480p.
- myskja, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Great update, but can someone please confirm that there still is no option to turn off the "swoooshes" and "boink boink" sounds navigating the menus...?
- CJHtxGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think they just updated the drivers, because I've used my wireless logitech kb in oblivion before... But when I tested it out again Its more responsive and accurate (would repeat letters if you went too fast before, which was a pain)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm interested in this too. Those sounds are so aggravating.
- canyonblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2even xbox live demos? my understanding is they should only stop when playing a game, any game, that requires real time online access.
- CJHtxGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was playing far cry campaign and dling just fine, took a min to find active download panel from the guide, but there they were, chuggin along..
- Wolfbeta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Some really bad spelling mistakes in there.
My favourite update: "Improved error codes" /sarcasm - FourDoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@kilodelta
Component cables can do 720p and 1080i DVD upconversion. However, there's no upconversion of DVDs through component by most dvd players because of the movie industry. It is NOT a limitation of the console, but a limitation imposed by the MPAA. - RK5XL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I can confirm that you can now turn off the sounds while navigating the Dashboard.
- JimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Downloads also pause when you move into Media Center.
- jamesthejust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Only for VGA though. No 720p upscaling yet. Fingers crossed for the next update
- paulbram, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"DVD player outputs at native resolution over VGA connection"
DVD upscaling!!! I can't believe this one hasn't gotten more attention! - Koolice, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3awesome update
- ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And there will probably be another update in the autumn before the PS3 launches. It just keeps getting better.
- kilodelta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1interesting.
but why can't component cables do 720p? - rocke86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Has anyone seen the improved error codes? Hopefully they replace the "This disc will only play in a Xbox 360" one with something more helpful.
- myskja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great! Thanks for the info guys.
- paulbram, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No 720p? My native resolution is 720p so using my VGA cable I do get 720p. Right? What am I missing?
- McGrude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought the same thing. I have no doubt they worked something in to combat the hack. I'm also sure that is why it took longer for them to release the update.
- viewsource, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have all of my DVDs on a server which I use so I can play them on any computer or TV in my house. But I can't use it through my XBox but *hoping* MSFT allows it soon, this way I can drop one of my mac minis from having to have it running all the time as the Xbox boots in under 5 seconds.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just wish they would add more games to their backwards comp' list...either way it's a decent update and I also noticed that I downloaded 3 Gigs in about 30 minutes..quite fast
- m00nstone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It paused so that your online multiplay experience is not degraded by the download. They want you to be able to download and do other stuff, with the exception of playing games online.
They wouldn't want people complaining, "I've done the update, now online play is laggy". Get it? - dbryso05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fast-forward and rewind now offered at 2x -16x for any videos saved to hard drive
this is the best part... i was really pissed off when i had to watch the entire video about the making of the titanic, that came pre-loaded, just so i could see the dude hit the propeller in high-def - Tiscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Indeed.. so if I am using component cables I should be moving to the VGA one now (I can use either on my 52")???
- mdogcamel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think that the best part was the option to go directly to the dashboard when you power up. It is by far the most useful thing. The downloading a few things at a time is also cool.
- veza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yesterday I seen some laggin' / cannont find LIVE messages.. I hope they can roll over the new Update asap. (I still have Xbox, I personally don't care so much about new features)
- xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"it's gonna make Live less frustrating."
What is there on Xbox Live that's frusterating? You know Microsoft is doing something right when Sony is copying them. -
