- kloud213, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38this is a special deal.... you have to sign up for some phone service for some time to get that price.

The 360 is still retailing at it's launch price in Japan." - dgcrazykid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35Nintendo isn't fighting delays. They are on track, unlike Sony.
- titanass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31You cant get anything past this guy, he must be a detective or something.
- DarkEnder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Why do they charge 60 bucks per game? Because people will pay for it. They'll keep raising the price until people stop buying.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+27I bought my 360 from a guy in the mall for 150 dollars, it was still in the box and he even threw in a game, said it fell off a truck.
Beat that :) - isewise, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I wish they would reduce the price of games here. Get this: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on PC is 49.99 and on Xbox 360 its 59.99. WHY!!?!?!11! Next-gen is the new era of pwnage on my wallet!
Proof: http://www.ebgames.com/productmerch.asp?groupid=421 - KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Ahaha a mobster sold you a hot 360.
- neozeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This smells like a YahooBB ad that's been cliped. There are TONNES of promotions in Japan to get just about anything for a few hundred USD off the price. Since they don't show the whole ad (its obviously cropped) you dont see the whole deal.
- Kikkomann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I've searched for and read the ad (yes, I've studied Japanese). This is a promo that you may avail if you subscribe to a broadband internet connection.
- emostar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Reported as innaccurate. Read the ad before you post something like this. And if you can't read the language the source is written in, then you have no reason to be posting stuff that you have no idea what the contents are really about.
- heavyness, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Region_Free_Xbox_360_Games
- neura, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Very insightful comment, considering it has no basis in reality. If you're using this post as your base for evidence of your claim, you need to take a closer look, but I'm guessing you can't read it anyway. ;) GG agreeing with something you don't even understand.
- seachicken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Agreed. Typically the XBox 360 costs around 37,000 yen here. This ad is just a promo.
- cosm0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I don't understand MS's desperation to penetrate the Japanese market. The 360 does not have, in great numbers at least, the types of games Japanese gamers are attracted to. MS could do itself a favor, if it is so interested in taking marketshare away from the local boys like Sony, by investing in some cultural research. Sony has its finger on the pulse of the Japanese public, and that is an advantage that no short selling on MS's part will easily overcome.
- furtwan1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10because it can't play US games due to region lock.
- adizzy615, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Some games are region free. should not be hard to find the that list online.
- GooeyMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6that price is only for those who sign up for a @TCOM broadband service.

The 360 is still retailing at it's launch price in Japan.
-digg - sabster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Yeah man I agree. I wish they would just release the damn mod chips then mod it, then send it to me. It would probably cost the amount of a premium edition of one in the states, but with the mod chip included
- Dwebtron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7thats the idea
- BBX25, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Xbox 360 in Japan: $170
Xbox 360 in Canada: $499
:( - wordsnatcher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Darkender: Correction - they'll keep raising the price until people stop buying, and then blame piracy for plummeting sales.
- quamb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4no, all they needed was some a-list games that the japanese actually wanted.
- xodex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this is very true, they also did this a day after the launch.
It's like those old aol, compuserv, earthlink, msn deals at local electronics stores, Bestbuy, Fry's, Compusa. You buy the computer at a lower price maybe like half off almost but you have to sign a 2year contract with the isp. - Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I really do wish that instead of rushing the Japanese release (they didn't even have DOA4 ready for the Japanese release), they went ahead and rushed the Australian release.
We got our first shipment on Thursday.
And if people want to bitch about price, AU$650.
We win for pwned by MS. - TheSevenDuffs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3games are always about 10 bucks cheaper on pc because they dont need to pay licencing fees
- BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I got some cigs 'fell off a truck too, you should call me sometime and we'll uh do some legitimate business.
- neura, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"I don't understand MS's desperation to penetrate the Japanese market."
First you should understand that when you don't get your facts straight and just believe any newb with a digg account you look really damn ignorant.
The xbox 360 was advertised for this price in Japan a few days after it's release (possibly on release day, I'm not sure as I don't live there and don't read the newspapers there). But the advertisement is for the discounted price and a phone service subscription with mininmum time requirements. I don't know any more details than that, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was probably minimum requirement of 1 year or more for some avg to unreasonable amount of money for the service, hooking you with the cheap xbox 360.
This has NOTHING to do with Microsoft's alleged desperation, considering the service provider is eating the rest of the cost on the xbox 360, while Microsoft is still getting their standard cut. - rileyjt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Same - I payed $60 for Oblivion, but I will wait out price drops on any future titles.
- demyen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Xbox 360 in Japan : $170
Xbox 360 in Canada : $427
**Prices have been normalized to USD** - salmonmoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There are also no licence fees for PC games, you have to pay to print Xbox, PS2, or what ever on your games - not so for PC titles.
- lechatron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ebenonce, did you really just say "gooder"?
- yongfook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Microsoft also recently closed down their very swanky Xbox360 Lounge, in Omotesando (posh part of Tokyo). It was a kind of cafe / huge advertisement for the 360. Now it's under renovation as it's reopening as something completely different.
- azygousguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Its better here. All I had to do to get my XBOX 360 was punch a monkey.
- HeyFergy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3actually it was predicted far before the 360 came out that it would not do well...and not just by sony/nintendo fan boys. analysts were saying it would do terribly due to the fact that japanese gamers buy much different games than we do in the usa and Microsoft (and the companies releasing games for them) are not catering to them by releasing a lot of games aimed towards Japanese gamers unlike Nintendo and Sony are.
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4i need to meet this "guy in the mall".... i want a xbox 360 soo bad.
- Jcsmooth52, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hey I find that buying gamefly games will save you a bunch. They are selling for much less than the retail 59.99 I bought Elder Scrolls IV for 40.95 tax the day after it came out.
- rudolphdude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Why can't you buy one and have it sent here?
- darthmdh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen it cheaper from places other than Hardly Normal, but what gets me are the games... all EA's stuff is $120.
Maybe they are going to introduce a new line of games; Need For Cash: Hot Console, Need For Cash: Most Wanted, etc.
They can whinge all they like about software piracy when they set rrp's like that because NOBODY is listening. - neura, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Hear! Hear!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Man thats very cheap...
I wonder how much the PS3 and Revo prices will be. - nlatimer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I use my gloat all the time.
- shadowmoses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like Super Box Z....anyway xbox 360 will never ever succeed in Japan regardeless if they sold it for $100 and games for $15 it would still lag far behind its next gen competitors...
- Toupee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't help but think of Arrested Development when I hear "Fire Sale"...
"OHHH! THE FIRE! IT BURNS ME!!" - apoc06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i think they should have postponed their japanese launch until they had a few more titles of japanese interest. they could have used the extra consoles to prop up the lack of supply here in the states.
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oblivion will be the last 60 dollar game I buy for a long time.
- Stopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I still haven't been able to find one. =(
I keep people reading that they see them in the store but I haven't seen them. - kerosan41, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If somebody who was from japan saw this sign they would know that you have to sign up for an internet service to get these deals. Its part of a package. Sign up for something, get a discount.
