- jonathantneal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+69Microsoft would like to remind you that corporal rectification of the XBOX 360 device is NOT recommended. Please contact a certified Microsoft Corporal Rectifier.
- MikeUSNAVY, on 10/12/2007, -27/+12Void the warranty? Hah.
Customer support walked him through that. - vhold, on 10/12/2007, -7/+59You all realize the fact that he's recorded this means that in all likeliness he has to keep doing it.. so.. I think it's a bit of a stretch to say he's -solved- it.
- CharlesSaint007, on 10/12/2007, -2/+60Void the warranty!? I'd say by modding the case of his XBox by putting in see-through panels and painting it, he's long foregone his warranty...
- Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -32/+15Damnit, why didn't I buy this instead of my Wii or PS3, now THAT looks like FUN!
- EmileVictor, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Anything can be fixed with a quick bash!

just ***** hit it. - gklitt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Does anyone else see the potential for Christmas lighting with a broken Xbox 360? The red and green would be perfect!
- numptydumpty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26aaaaah, good old fashioned percussive maintenance
- Ranferi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44NES style, baby!!!
- billymachine, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I hope he tried blowing into the CD tray and all the ports before resorting to violence. You should only shlap a game console as a last resort!
- epheterson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The Russian Repair Method!
- R2-D2, on 10/12/2007, -17/+3Ingenious? More like brilliant.
NOT!!! - yuravian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@R2-D2: I dugg that down, just to see how long it took to fold up after burial. needless to say, it took long enough that I wish I had dugg it up.
- fatalfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On my original xbox, the dvd drive was messed up, so everyone in a while i had to hit the box from underneath and it made it work just fine.
- mementh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bad Xbox 360, BAD, BAD. Now go get your whip and handcuffs
Also....
I'd hit that
- McGrude, on 10/12/2007, -4/+52Well considering that it has been case-modded, it probably has a loose connector somewhere, no wonder that hitting up side the head makes it better.
- victoitor, on 10/12/2007, -17/+12Hitting it usually doesn't make a connector get tighter. That may just make them looser. So it is sure not a loose connector that tightened up.
- Unr3a1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I think you're thinking of the solution for unhappy iPods, which involved hitting the device to fix a loose cable connection. As for the fix in the video for the xbox, my guess is magic.
- kbell29, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Ah, I wish I tried that before I sent my broken 360 to Microsoft for repairs. =)
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14No, you really don't.
- Sabin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm about to send mine for repairs.....gonna try this first though.
- MoeWasHere, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28you gotta be ***** ***** me...
that's just funny.- bradford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15It reminds me of: http://www.digg.com/videos_comedy/Sean_Connery_Talks_about_Slapping_Women
Re-watch the interview. Each time they say "women" replace it with "X-Box 360". Seems rather appropriate in this case. - marshn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+38"Shlap that Ecksh-bocksh!"
- whiteguysamurai, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Connery is the man!
- bradford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15It reminds me of: http://www.digg.com/videos_comedy/Sean_Connery_Talks_about_Slapping_Women
- victoitor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+69This is probably what Microsoft does when you send it in for repair.
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Or they don't even bother, they let UPS do the rest.
- hookET, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31Well it was either this or the old school NES's "blow me" solution.
- Odweaver, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I found that using hydrogen peroxide on a qtip and using the qtip to clean the connection worked more reliably.
- Company_Man, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Back in the day, you could make the Atari 520ST reseat its memory chips by dropping it flat to the desk from a height of about 8-9 inches high.
- Merudo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Actually, that was the apple lisa, wasn't it?
*cough* - Trenchbroom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5No...it was the Apple III:

- Thorlord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19console spankings prove to be quite usefull in this day and age.
turns out what your parents did to you for running through the neighbors yard naked also can fix high-tech electronics. - herschelaz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6it was misbehaving so he spanked it
i guess they still do that in brazil- g0dbrz, on 10/12/2007, -20/+2no... that's is the america way.
http://costofwar.com/index-college-scholarships.html - GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@g0dbrz

- Dudibob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6my god, my 360 has recently broke on me, guess what I'm doing when I get home :D
- marshn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22You're going to spank it?
The 360, that is.
- marshn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22You're going to spank it?
- mufasa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3haha that has worked for me on lots of other stuff. my pc was making a funny noise so i just hit it on the side and voilá, it was silent again. (well, not exactly silent, but def. quieter)
- remy1701, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's probably a fan with a worn bearing.
- RiotActing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9can someone translate? :)

- Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I'm not 100% fluent, but I speak a little. I'll tell you what I picked up.
....'Xbox 360' ... 'has gone to hell' .... *bang, bang bang* 'Yes it works.' ...'and there we have an image my friend.'
I think you can probably fill in the blanks from there. - inerte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Voice one: Well, it's recording. As usual, Xbox 360 again, 3 red lights, let's try to fix it... using another method.
Voice two: (can't understand)
*Slap *Slap *Slap
Voice one: If it works...
Voice one: Bring it here because the fix is immediate pal!
Voice two: Show it here damn.

- xianfrost, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0I mean rally sure the warrenty may be voided but Tech Supprt still is there ! Imean wouldn't it be worth to pay for it after all that. He's only going to continue to make it worse !
- EnjoyTheFact, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12That's how I fixed my mom's laptop. "I leaned on the flat part near the keyboard and it made a weird sound." I like to refer to it as "The Fonz treatment."
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Heeeeey!" *Thumbs up!*
- Valarauka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Since the days of the abacus, this has been the number one method for fixing non-working devices ... I wouldn't exactly call it 'ingenious'. Defintely fun, though.
- datakillx99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rofl. That's great. Though I wish I'd seen this before I sent the xbox 360 in to repair 2 times T_T Though, I got PGR3 free out of it so I guess it was (sort of) worth it?
- DocDEB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20And The Technical Support sayeth, "Thou shall slap thine xBox smartly on its bottom three times and the slapping shall be three and not two as two is insufficient. Three shall be the slapping. Not four as four shall be to much and not one as one shall also be insufficient."
- slasherx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I did that at least 20 times to the 3 xbox 360's I had to return... it worked about 5% of the time and even then it was only for a few minutes. It's horrible that they still haven't fixed all the issues.
- onemillion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6in the words of Fonzi
let us
ayyyyyyyyyyy - foobar5892, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Back in the day, whacking a malfunctioning TV set was the normal course of action.
- Dustan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's amazing that still, to this day, a nice smack to an electrical device solves all problems.
note to 360 owners, if smacking fails, you could try the nes blow! - kayjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0a slap-happy console, hurray.
- raabco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, it couldn't make it worse!
I just wonder why they decided to film this, like it was a demonstration. - Rabbethan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Thats how we fix things on russian spacestation!
- blackgt93, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7In Soviet Russia, space station slaps you!
- jwasko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"American components, Russian Components, ALL MADE IN TAIWAN!"
Lev is awesome. - EricAnderton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I told you.. don't touch anything!"
- proliance, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Borat knows Xbox!
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey, what do ya knoww... It worked for electronics from the 80's and now the xbox360.
- knodi, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1This is nothing this feature is build in to the PS3.
P.S. if you can't duct tape it its time to ***** it.- Dustan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12what?
- trenchMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Aren't these the same guys that video their girlfriends doing dogs?
- vinchBR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1gootta love the brazillian way of handling expensive piece of hardware (to us at least the xbox 360 sells for about 700-1000 dollars here)
- vinchBR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2oh just one more thing...
here in brazil there is not such thing as warranty... unless you install a modchip.. they give the warranty on the modchip alone... the console is your problem... remember consoles are not produced and sold down here... sony and microsoft think that we are just a bunch of dumb poor 3rd world people... to hell with them... maybe the wii will be produced by a local hardware house that used to make older consoles for nintendo... i just hope that happens =) - .mark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A friend of mine had the RLOD on his Xbox and he simply cleaned the connectors for the hard drive and on the unit itself. The 360 then worked after that, but it didn't work for long as it died again about two weeks later...
- Jonthekingdon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thats my dads method for everything too!
- nickels, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks like someone went to the Fred Sanford school of repair.
- h3ndrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If only mine didn't hit back. :'(
- deimos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2My 360 had the RLOD, and I'd taken it apart and tried replacing the thermal paste for the GPU as well as tried the heat gun trick. Heat gun trick worked for about a day, but it was loud as hell, then it returned to the RLOD. Microsoft started offering to fix any console manufactured before 1/1/2006 for free, so I sent mine in (it was manufactured on 10/26/2005 I believe). Got it back about 2 weeks later, and they hadn't fixed it, they'd completely replaced it. So, works fine for me now, although I am going to be selling it soon and getting a Wii.
- BobsYourUncle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ deimos
I've been trying to figure this out (since I don't yet have an Xbox). How did you know when it was manufactured?
- BobsYourUncle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ deimos
- fcra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1(looking at the youtube comments) Funny how laughing in Portuguese is "huahuahua."
- dustyken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sounds right. I think that approach is used to fix any Microsoft product. Or, at least, I feel like doing that to most Microsoft products.
- mark_in_bc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When one of my 360s came down with the RLOD I unplugged everything and let it sit for an hour or so. I set it back up in the vertical position and plugged everything back in, it's been working great ever since.
- bussche, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1translation: *SMACK* microsoft, wheres my money?, wheres my money? *SMACK*
- evil-doer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i won my xbox 360 last year around november, it broke within the first week. had the red ring of death thing. i tried again and again for days to fix it and had microsoft ship the packing box to send it back to them. just before it went back i thought id try one last thing.. giving it a firm smack to re-set anything loose. guess what? that fixed it and its worked for a year now with no problems to this day.
- leet83, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Remember kids, when all else fails, violence is always the answer!
- maisis00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah there is a tip straight out of the Windows95 administrators handbook. "When all else fails beat the !@#$ out of it!" ROFLMAO... nice footage by the way.
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1the title should be 'a secret camera goes into microsoft repair facilities'.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The 3 best ways to solve 99% of tech-related problems.
1. Unplug it and plug it back in.
2. Blow in it.
3. Smack the ***** out of it.
If those don't work, you're SOL. - theRIAA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1reminds me of that one scene from The Core
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Oh the irony...that's how I get my girl to work too!
- bakatrinh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sometimes you gotta show your xbox who's the boss.
- eschompthis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This video makes me think the modders didnt do a good job putting it back, the motherboard mus be all loose n *****.
- rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ill remember that ....but as a repaiman did that to alot of other stuff too and it works like a charm...enjoy!
