- acemilo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7LMAO @ moqebier. Every console has had problems at launch. Remember the ps2? Remember how bad the lasers were? A lot of em just didn't even work or burned out within days. That is a serious hardware flaw, much worse than anything the 360 has done. The psp also had a serious flaw, well 2, horrible qc on the lcd leading to dead pixels and the o button would stick. Don't be foolish, everything has flaws.
- Red_Cloak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It has nothing to do with heat issues. It's just a bug in the software, it's obvious to anyone who has experienced it.
- furtwan1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I know this is hella-biased, but Bill Neilsen talked at my university about the 360 last night and he claimed 'heat issues' were very rare, and were primarily blown out of proportion by websites such as digg. He did acknowledge hardware problems in a couple percent, but claimed they were rarely heat related. Due to his obvious bias, I'm curious how many of you have heat problems with your 360? I dont. My brother doesnt. In fact I dont personally know anyone who does. Clearly my experience hasn't been anything like what's being reported/repeated so I'm wondering if the 8-9 people I play 360 with were all just lucky.
Now, as for the patch, this will be really great. I've run into several problems with downloading content on live very slowly (and not in the background) and I hope they can resolve them soon. - tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The shortage thing is a bunch of BS. I went to both CircuitCity and BestBuy to (find the best deal and) pick up an external harddrive. I went to check out games for my old xbox and tada there it was, the Xbox 360. I asked the employees if they had any in stock and they said yeah.
- bcassner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1snowsurfns, the big difference between the PS2 and XBox from the SNES and NES is that in the PS2 and XBox there are moving parts. It's a well known fact that moving parts that rely on gears and belts will always wear out before the actual electronics components.
- merdeisel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ive got a 360 and have no problems with it at all... the system is great... Geometry Wars and Zuma are worth it alone.
- diggAl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've had no problems with mine. Very happy with it. This coming from an Apple fan since 1984.
- cseasy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was fortunate enough to be in the right place (Wal-Mart) at the tight time (New Years Day) and got hold of the 360 without to much delay. I've yet to experience any heating problems, I've even gone and felt it up during gaming at it doesn't seem that bad at all to the touch. The mofo is loud though, although, so was my original Xbox so that's not too big a deal for me.
C. - Durrok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I say bring back the cartridges!
Worse thing that happens there is you pass out trying to clean it :p - MarkK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just got my 360 today. Only looked for 48 hours until I found one. So the shortage thing is BS. If you look you will find.
- Zonkzor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On one hand it's great that they can fix problems like this. On the other hand it's very slipery slope. We've all seen how the "ship a broken product and patch it later" has ruined PC gaming. Lets hope they don't start allowing game makers to release patches on the Xbox.

http://CollegeCheapskate.com - chriszma666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone who claims they can't get one isn't trying. I see them in stock at my Circuit City stores by me all the time. That's where I got mine.
- Wabem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ive got a 360 and it is awesome...no heat problems at all. So there ya go.
- *Ica*, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think its actually pretty cool that they can update the thing like this. Rather that than have problems forever...
- dandiemer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1xbox SP2
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"It's amazing that companies are allowed to ship and sell something that is obviously not finished, and flawed. You would think there would be a law for FRAUD or something."
Wow dude, you are a moron-nuff said - bcassner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just hope they keep doing updates and patching the system to make it a better product as time goes by. Seeing there attetiveness to this issue might actually make me buy one.
- Progz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hope it allows us to have more then 1 person in a private chat :( and maybe be able to have the person name on the screen from who is talking in the private chat
- miscoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"hopefully they include a way to change tracks streaming from your computer during gameplay without opening up the dashboard...like how you can with the built in music
kinda annoying being in the middle of a race in PGR3 and an opera kicks in right after some nice rock music..."
Do you have the mini remote? Just use that to skip tracks (but uhhh on a straightaway!). But i DO wish you could control the music volume directly with the remote. Does the "big" remote allow that? Or is there a command I can program into my Harmony remote? Also kind of makes me wish there were a few key media buttons (play/pause, next/prev track) right on the controller. - panique, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When has MS ever fixed ALL the bugs in any one of their products? PR drivel. Don't believe the hype.
- jay_whoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I haven't had any problems with mine
- troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0can't wait for xbox sp1- new and improved... no includes fun! I just convinced my friends that with all the ***** about waiting for preorder xboxs for 2 months plus, they are better off preordering song ps3. The wait time will be the same for a much better product.(if it actually exists yet)
- healimonster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It was my understanding that they were two different problems.
- shagybones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've had mine since launch, not a single problem. As with any computer you should always keep it well ventelated. Not in enclosed entertainment cabinets with the doors shut or the such as I have seen lots of people do in the past with just about anything.
As for finding one, just check online or in a store, they do get a stock of them all the time, you just cant go in ther after school and get one though, you gotta go early. I got mine online, shipped to my door for free :) - da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't have any overheating problems with my 360 the background downloading would be a really nice feature though, yeah I've had lock ups a couple times and it's not a heat issue only happend twice, once when I was trying to start playing music and once when I tried to quit out of a game thrw the guide
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ya it's real BS. I went to BestBuy and Futureshop today at lunch and neither had any 360's in stock. They both had no idea when they'd be getting anymore in as well.
- Raider007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hopefully they include a way to change tracks streaming from your computer during gameplay without opening up the dashboard...like how you can with the built in music
kinda annoying being in the middle of a race in PGR3 and an opera kicks in right after some nice rock music...kinda kills the mood and you're stuck with it till the end of the race... - dpg10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My Xbox 360 hasn't had any problems with it. I waited 16 hours in line at the Dadeland mall in South Miami. Still I haven't had any problems with my system. A friend of mine had to send his back in for repairs. It would keep telling him to put the game disc in an Xbox 360. I hope they increase the amount of people u can talk to in a private chat. Maybe to like 3 or 4. I can't wait for the camera, increased players in Call of duty 2 and a fix for the lag. Plus i'd love it if they would add the background downloading.
- duke_nate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0" The mofo is loud though,"
So turn up the surround sound. Maybe its just me but i never thought the original XBOX to be loud at all. - plamoni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you are having trouble finding an xbox, check:
http://bensbargains.net/xbox360/xbox360.php
As of right now there are 3 different packages in stock, albeit they are $900-$1000, they do include many extras you would probably end up buying anyway. I am just saving up my money to pick one up, I have no worries about being able to find one... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mine works perfect, All i want is an update so i can turn off the bing in the dash board
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ONe of the problems was that the fan was off or went slower when playing arcade games so i guess they fixed that
- mcgrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought the hard drive was a "pay extra" option on the 360. What about the people who don't have one? It'll be kind of hard to save the patches.
- Xoligy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is old news. It's fixing common problems in Live and Dashboards. There are even rumours it will intergrate with MSN.
- Vill4no, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No problems w/ mine either, had it for over a month and it froze on me only once.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In other words, microsoft is going to make it so we have to find a new workaround for mod chips. :-)
- xenon221, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love Geometry Wars too. That's what is great about the system... there are a lot of extras that make it a lot of fun. Xbox live really surprised me: the voice chat and player status add a lot to the experience. It even tells you what other people are doing, what games they have...etc. Pretty slick!
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the heating problem affects 4% (or 3%) which is far below the industry average for faulty consoles.
OMG THE WORLD IS GOING TO BLOW UP AND MICROSOFT ARE THE DEVILS !
get a freaking clue. - daze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no overheating problems with mine. dont put the thing on the carpet and you'll be fine.
- cmilkosk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You know - I get the feeling that anyone who has anything bad to say about the Xbox 360 just doesn't have one. Jealous or something. I've had one since it came out and I love it. No problems whatsoever and I play the thing every day. Geometry Wars, Zuma, and PGR3 rock. Worth every dollar I paid for it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"currently known lockups in games"? Damn I'm glad I didn't buy one of these.
- anubisgamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This was a rumor already knocked...
http://digg.com/gaming/Microsoft_WILL_NOT_stop_supporting_manufacturing_the_Original_Xbox - eclipxe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+119 hours in line at Best Buy on launch for my X360 - couldn't be happier. No heat problems at all. For those also trying to change tracks in PGR3- if you mean the in-game soundtrack (not your own), you can use the D-pad left and right to change songs and up and down to change genres. It actually has pretty awesome music...
Sucks to be all the sorry folks that STILL can't get an X360... "No, I would never stand in line all night, hell I'll just walk in at 9:30am and buy one." or "Oh, well there will be plenty after Christmas!". Suckers, hahahahha. ha. - fyre2012, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0XBOX BETA more like it
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What good is this if you can't buy the system?
- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I was going to say that Shalabi. It would be helpful if I could actually buy one...
- SideshowPaul, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0(place tin-foil hat on)
1) Some VP just decides to save money on QA testers by letting the first XBox 360 customers do a couple rounds of QA for them.
2) Release the update and watch how magically the supply problems will suddenly go away.
3) Profit!
(Remove tin foil hat)
I'm just kidding here but you can bet EA and the like will start the release game on time even when its not ready then fix it via a patch cycle that plagues the PC game world. - SnowSurfns, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i dont think the snes or nes had problems at launch that couldnt be fixed with a blwo int he cartridge, speaking of that mine still work perfectly. i wonder if the xbox 360 will last that long with no maintnence....
