- charlescheese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18I can't believe they put the xbox logo on by hand. That's hilarious. In this day of automation I tend to think everything is done by machines.
- unknownsoldierX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14But then they couldn't claim that every XBOX is made with "tender, loving care."
- Netmindstorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's a little confusing because the one picture shows it being applied by hand and then pic 19 shows/describes the jewel being applied by machine. Portion of pic 19 test:
"You can see a hopper full of Xbox jewels on the bottom left. The machine is applying jewels to the finished case. " - nanobot2k, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3never worked at a manufacturing plant?
- Niffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Its not very economical to design a "jewel putter on-er" machine when the console has a production run of 5-7 years. With high-end electronics - especially when they aren't "high-end" for very long - you'd be surprised how much work is actually performed by hand.
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But then they couldn't claim that every XBOX is made with "tender, loving care."
But robots can love too, can't they?
- sayitloveit, on 10/12/2007, -15/+5Testing on a sony TV??gotta love irony, eh?
- ShawnPeterson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31They must have run out of Microsoft TV's to use....
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Obligatory, "you don't know what irony means" comment.
- nanobot2k, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5their cheap pos that you can buy, what can i say?
- Raftysworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@*****
Uhm, except that was irony. Moron.
- Netmindstorm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Anybody else able to read the guy in the pics [pic 13] thoughts? I got: "1 for them, 1 for me. 2 for them, 1, 2 for me"
- suman78, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Cute girls in couple of photos!!!
- kman2k1, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4http://andy.saturn9.ws/Photo%20Albums/Xbox%20Manufacturing%20Facility/2.jpg
http://andy.saturn9.ws/Photo%20Albums/Xbox%20Manufacturing%20Facility/33.jpg - Philoushka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23ZOMG... a female! Quick, calling all nerds!
- Supaman223, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Hardly
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1The one in the middle is eyeing that woman's fingers like she wants it.
- spz104, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Agreed! I was just about to post about these two, particularly the brunette. Nice.....
- TheGonzo, on 08/13/2008, -1/+6that was just sad
- nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I'd hit it.
When it comes to loving video game women, I'm a button-masher. - pixelate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3the brunette's arms must be ripped by now... those xboxes are heavy.
- kman2k1, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4http://andy.saturn9.ws/Photo%20Albums/Xbox%20Manufacturing%20Facility/2.jpg
- u2wedge, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3it's pretty amazing to think that all that effort goes into a box you can buy for $300-$400 bucks. Mass production 101.
- jpbleuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6not even 300 bucks this is the assembly for the original xbox not the 360.
- anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Wrong xbox, next time read the article before you worry about "getting a good spot" in the comment line.
- kravex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How could you have looked at the page and not noticed is wasn't the Xbox 360?
You didn't even look did you
- nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Oh, THAT xbox.
- Barnolde, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4So they put the jewel on by hand, that explains why my friend has one that's upside down.
- Sferrero, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3What the, I didn't know FlexTronics did the xbox manufacturing! My dad works there... Think they make the 360 too?
- bickdigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28ask your dad?
- mostman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Bwaah!
Best comment of the week.
- spawnfree, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0when do they put in the magic?
all that effort and hardwork for MS to make a negative number. Sad really. - V1bes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1hmm, i wonder where i could get some of those xbox logos
- anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5internet
- djaoki, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Where in the assembly process do they install the glitches?
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6This is the original, not the 360.
Please come back when you get into the 2005+ era.
Thanks.- MosaicM, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I know, I was like... they are still making the original xbox? I'd be much more interested in the manufacturing process of the 360.
- TheGonzo, on 08/13/2008, -3/+4considering that the 360s are being manufactured in not the US, the girls would be different...
- AnarchyOnline, on 10/12/2007, -22/+2LOL those photos are full of lies guys.
The whole world know that 99% of the units are being made in india, mexico, taiwan, china.
If you watch closely, there are not enough ppl in these photos anyway.
It was probably their refurbished factory temporarely converted into some plan for the sole purpose to takes those picture to make everyone think they are built in the US.
While M$ customer service are in India, every units are being fabricated outside the us using cheap labour. Just like everything else...otherwise it would cost 10 times the price.
And watch closely the pictures, not a single black, yellow or mexican... they carefully picked white ppl to make it looks like it was 100% usa, which itself makes the intention even more suspicious.
LOL- AUGTRON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7RTFA,
The factory is in Hungary.
and I definatley see black people in the mass shots. - Bfettmaul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Dude, it's Hungary. Home of Transylvania and Dracula.
Dracula plays Xbox. Sweet. - heinousjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I love when people brand themselves as idiots. Saves me the trouble of figuring it out for myself.
- scelestus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ AnarchyOnline
Wow, you definitely qualify for the Jackass Comment Of The Day award. - peterpunker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anarchyonline I'm from mexico and the units of xbox have not been produce in this country. =)
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@anarchyonline - You fail at critical thinking. Go buy a mystery book and work on it.
- totallymike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Erm...I work at the ibm microelectronics plant in burlington, vermont and we make most, if not all xbox 360 and wii cpu's here. That's not console assembly, but it goes to show you that you shouldn't just assume everything's being done in asia
- totallymike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@bfettmaulwanvadersoloskywalkerboushh
pretty sure romania is the home of transylvania and dracula.
- AUGTRON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7RTFA,
- JeyNyce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I expected to see Bill there overseeing the whole thing.
- ODSTKuk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I do not know I think I can lift 30 tons
- jerrycan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Tour guide: Welcome to "Enchantment Lane" where all the parts come
together and the Xbox is born. Some folks say there's a
little touch of fairy dust in the air.
[Shot of grizzled hungarians unhappily assembling Xboxen ]
Foreman: Aw, crap. There's a clog in the XBOX jewel hopper. Lorant! Get
your ass in gear.
Lorant: Shut your hole. [jams a mop in the hopper] - djaoki, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0The 360s are made through a much more complicated process. They send them back in time to be assembled by cro-magnon men with crude tools.
Keep in mind I've been the proud owner of two faulty 360s in the last 2 months. Keep those production standards high, Microsoft! - Stopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder why they image the drive after it's in the box? Is that their stress test?
- FRANKeB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0You mean they haven't moved production to China or India yet? Oh wait, these are kinda old photo's aren't they?
- Nigpoo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Do they even make those anymore????? wait, who cares.
- angusware, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2That's cool. I want to see an iPod or iMac being made. That would be fun. It also seems like a very complicated and expensive lie, so that doesn't seem quite right either. And as for the SONY thing, thats just stupid. That's like saying it's ironic that KFC workers eat Macdonalds.
- mansellx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Poor, unhappy factory workers...
- Whoeverxxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I figured there would be a bunch of 13 year old kids putting things together. Just like computer mainboard manufactures have to do the manual labor in 3rd world countries. I'm also surprised that green Xbox sticker on the top of the system is put on as straight as it is on my Xbox considering this is done by human hands that are probably not making squat doing what they do and most likely don't really care too much about anything after seeing hundreds of these systems a day.
- hectavex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"It's also ironic that the work is being performed on a Sony TV."
As opposed to a Microsoft TV? - mochzr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1That is one fugly ass console. So many...
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe it wasn't pretty but it was a tough little sob. I gave mine to my nephew but I am thinking of getting another one, nostalgia I suppose.
- totallymike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These guys are lucky. To make the chips we have to wear clean suits. All they get are gloves.
- Whoeverxxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You have to wear clean suits to make chips? Are you talking Xbox chips, Potato chips, or what?
- totallymike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We actually install potato chips IN the xboxes. that's the secret of why xbox 360 is still better than the ps3; no potato chips in a ps3. stupid sony...
- Whoeverxxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That explains why Rosie likes Bill's things better than Donald's but why do you want the gloves more than the clean suit?
- totallymike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Arg, ran out of time. I take issue with the content of the wiki itself. The author is mostly guessing at that the people in the picture are doing, and that's frustrating.
"The woman in the front works at the PC stations (picture 2) and seems to store away an Xbox after the procedure on that station. The brown boxes on the bottom right seem to contain empty hard disk plastic bags." - freakgd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they get to play it for I do those bastards
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Believe me, when their work day is over, they don't want to see another XBox ever again. They're not interested in having fun with it.
- MaXPL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i could so tell those were europeans. all eastern europeans have that look to them... haha.
anyway, i wish i could get a new xbox for around 100 bucks somewhere. i have two xbox 360s, sold one of my xboxs and the other is almost broken so i want a new one for collection. any places still sell them new? - keiko61215, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i thought we had machines doing this type of work now.
