Im excited. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11HA! I bet next week SONY will announce they have been working on the same thing- so they're not really stealing Microsoft's idea.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I like that monthly fee for access to all the live arcade games.
I'm not paying $7 for feeding frenzy, but I'll pay $4 to play it (and 20 other games) until I unlock all the achivements. (But of course, that's not going to happen on the 360. Just cell phones) - antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It's slowing down a bit. Here's a mirror, JIC.

- Arkz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4java does suck but it works quite well on phones as an environment to run programmes under, lots of different phones from different companies can use it, if they used java you could have X Live anywhere running on lots of different phones as opposed to just the ones running Windows CE or that have BREW, but ofcourse you people neg mod anything you don't understand... and i pity you for that, its quite obvious that I'm gonna get neg modded for this, but at the end of the day i don't care cause I'm right and you have your head up yer asses :) kthxbye!
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's queued so when you turn on your 360 it will automatically download.
- Arkz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yer gonna need a Windows CE phone for all that stuff.. which doesnt really bother me, still on my trusty old Symbian, but the thought of doing all the custom paint jobs on my cars for Forza 2, on my pc... thats just awesome... bet they make it Vista only :(
- Superfito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm fairly certain that you can use it on CE and Java enabled phones..
- s7r1k3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is great news for pc gamers as well as 360. Now we can all play together.
- awgneo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just take one look at the hundreds of f*cked up frameworks (struts, JSF, etc.) based around Java and you won't ever want to code Java again.
- Arkz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hmmm... actually im not sure.. theres all the anoying 14 yr olds on XLive that shout "OMG YOU F***ING NOOB YOUR CHEATING" when you beat them, but then on pc its full off dirty pedo's that follow you around if you have a female character or pretend to be a hot 20 yr old girl when thier really 50 yr old men fresh outta rehab...
- Arkz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hmm, just look at Azureus, that runs just fine, no probs what so ever... and that runs under java, shows it can be done if someone does the job right :p
- logikil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Arkz
It was my understanding that they were going to be able to run this on a multitude of different devices such that you would not require a CE device. That's what i took away from the E3 press conference. Has this changed? - Iceduck, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Too bad the mobile games are for BREW since J2ME is the industry standard (and much easier to develop for).
- scottauth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The idea of downloading games while I'm not at home is fantastic!
...but does that more than likely means that my XBOX 360 will have to be turned on 24/7 and with as hot as that thing runs it means I run the risk of burning my house down.
No thank you!
Everything else looks very promising. XBOX Live is an amazing service and I hope it helps tie online gaming on PCs together. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1No I can't. My Xbox 360 is turned off when I'm not at home. And for good reason, it takes a ton of power and creates a ton of heat.
If you leave your 360 on 24/7, you can expect to pay about $85 a year just to run it, even if you don't play a single game. - Sartori, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Edit: Replying to bbabics... :)
You do know that Sony has a stake in Sony Ericsson, a mobile phone manufacturer? It wouldn't surprise me if they *have* been working on the same thing. Many of these ideas have been around for a while, but only now is the technology, the infrastructure, and the perceived demand there for it to be worthwile giving it a try. - pjh3000, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Java sucks!
