- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7THERE IS NO FREE XBOX 360.
Here's the actual website where this is being promoted:

You get 3 games, Xbox Live Gold, Marketplace Points, and a wireless modem for $60/month. You have to buy your own Xbox 360. - bmaltais, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Posted on: http://happybeggar.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=43&Itemid=2
Bell Sympatico and XBOX 360 Deal
Here is what sound like a sweet deal!
"
On Novembre 5th Bell Canada is launching a new offer. Bell Canada partenered with Microsoft for this offer. Essentially they are combining Sympatico High Speed with Microsoft XBOX 360.
A customer get for 59.95 (in Ontario) and 54.95 (in Quebec) an XBOX 360 Pro bundle than include 3 games (one of them being NHL '07), 3 months of XBOX Live, some marketplace points and a Sympatico Wireless Modem with high speed service.
"
This is a cool way of "leasing" an XBOX 360 while getting high speed internet access! Other carriers will certainly notice! Microsoft will have a lot of console making their way into homes this way! - ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They are quite different, IMHO. I was with Symptico High Speed for 6 years... But it just got slower and slower. I've recently switched to Rogers, and even with the second worst package, it still kills my old Sympatico.
- bmaltais, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Forget about the Oct 26 News... it was for OCT 26 of last year ;-( Which mean a better deal this year ;-)
- bmaltais, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yeah! One more reason to move north! Cheap highspeed internet and a free* XBOX 360 (3 year contract)!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have normal highspeed internet from Bell Sympatico, my maximum download speed is 530Kb/s and maximum upload is 87Kb/s
The is also lite-highspeed and extreme-highspeed offered from them, Currently I pay 45$CAD for this service. - andreo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sounds like a great deal to me. Beats the hell out of the: sign up and get a free ringtone crap that you get down here in the states (yeah, I know, ringtones would be for cell phones, but it's just an example).
I've been a customer of different services for years at a time. What do I get for free that I didn't either throw in the garbage or the closet after a month of getting tired of seeing it sit on my desk? Nada. - ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dude. There is no free Xbox 360...
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh canada?
- xtremesniper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They are still comparible (they have to be) since they are the two major competing internet firms in Ontario. Most people don't even know they have other options, so yes they are comparable simply because they are pretty much directly competing for the same customers.
- mcottier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I might as well not even have clicked on the link, since you basically put everything it said in the comments.
- pvtjohndoe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Looks like I'm moving to Canada...
- Tanpreet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Sympatico isn't even that great. Rogers is so much better.
- Tarmanydyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cable > DSL
- quanta88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It is NOT a lease on an Xbox...more like "get this contract, get a 360 free". This offer started out last year October.
Bell ran a similar promo with the original Xbox a couple years ago. The cool part was that you got a translucent navy blue Xbox instead of the regular black one. (Navy blue being one of the Bell branding colours) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@xtremesniper
Care to expand on better and faster ISPs in Ontario? - dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is my Dell link redirecting to a DIGG/GAMING page??
Anyway.. it was a link to the 24 inch Dell monitor...
its... so.. very... sweet.. and it has HDMI inputs now! - bmaltais, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry, you are wrong. Read a little bit better please. Two sources have confirmed this. Follow the links, read and listen.
- 5abi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2how about in general bell sucks balls and rogers owns. you cant ***** around with rogers they own everything first they bought fido then sprint then skydome, theres no stopping rogers. they're the google of canada. only getting bigger and bigger. what does bell have, those annoying beavers.
- bmaltais, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think last year offer did not include an XBOX 360. I was to receive an Xbox Live Premium Gold Pack which includes: 12 Months of Xbox Live service, an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter and a Sympatico Wireless Home Networking modem - a savings of approximately $280 (CDN) all at no additional cost.
This year deal is much better since you get an actuall XBOX 360 Pro Bundle! - TheToon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Rogers is great, as long as you don't mind having a bandwidth cap, getting threating letters when you are using too much bandwidth, having torrents blocked, or not being able to have a server running.
Don't get me wrong, when I was with rogers the service was a lot more reliable, but I host several sites out of my home, and use a lot of bandwidth, which Rogers wouldn't let me do - Chaoswing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow this is awesome.. Too bad I'm happy with my Videotron cable internet access...
- bchang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I really dont like Bell they kept connecting me in West Toronto(Etobicoke) to there Montreal center. So I went to Rogers and im much happier.
- bmaltais, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think you posted on the wrong Digg
- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@Magixx... Oh dude... you have to upgrade!
I signed up for Sympatico through DELL (in Spetember) to take advantage of a promotion between the companies.
By signing up through DELL, I got $200 off a DELL purchase, and a 1 year contract with Bell Sympatico for an Ultra High Speed connection (at least 3Mbps down, 500Kbps down) for $46CAD/mo.! (the contract can be extended for the same price, or go on a monthly basis for about $55 I think)
In reality my connection is more like 4.5Mbps down and 450Kbps up.
With the $200 for a Dell purchase, I waited until the 2407FPW
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=CADHS1&sku=320-4335
dropped in price to $799CAD... I then applied my $200 credit, and bought the damn thing for $680 (tax-in). (the price of that monitor fluctuates about once a month)
So, If your not tied up in a contract, I suggest you CANCEL your service with Sympatico (make sure its canceled and not SUSPENDED), and then sign up with some other name in your household through Dell to take advantage of this. Preferably someone with a different last name? - DooDah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hahahahhaha....get a pc jeeez.!!
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This article is inaccurate and a blogspam. This is not a lease for an Xbox360:
"At no extra cost, new Bell Sympatico High Speed subscribers who purchase a Xbox 360 ($399 for core system; $499 for premium bundle) will receive an Xbox Live Premium Gold Pack, which includes 12 months of Xbox Live service, Xbox 360 headset, Xbox Live Arcade games and video game rebates. They will also get an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter that snaps into the back of the unit and a Sympatico Wireless Home Networking modem for their PC." - TonyCubed, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Interesting deal, I don't live in Canada, but I dugg the story anyways :)
- bmaltais, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1That is like comparing apples and oranges... Bell is ADSL where Rogers is Cable modem. Rogers = faster rate(20 Mbps) shared vs ADSL (? Mbps) dedicated
- zhulien, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0hehe :) yeah you are right, sorry.
- bmaltais, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I am sure that they will replace it since it is essentially a lease for 36 months. Not sure if it is a lease to own if you cancell the contract after 3 years.
- zhulien, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0not a very good article because it's just plain logic that has always existed. of course a higher resolution takes more resources than a lower one. why don't they compare 1920x1080 with 320x200? when you consider the trade offs, one is not necessarily better than the other depending on what your 'goal' is - ie: is it purely higher resolution, or is it something else? ie: millions of NPC characters perhaps?
- chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2You would move to Canada and pay all of the extra costs of housing/moving/visas/etc. just so you could get a $400 console "free" with your internet?
Wow, some people's concepts of financial values are really screwed up! - j01101010, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3you dont need to post an absurdly long commentary/summary of the article, thats why theres a link to it.
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2doesn't really seem like that great of a deal.... but i don't care... people can do what they want.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Do you have to pay them for the XBox when it overheats and dies?
