- MakinBacon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+53Guys... guys... settle down!
No need to make fun of the graphics.
It's not about the graphics... it's all about the gameplay remember? - bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -2/+50I can get better games from the NES I have in my garage.
- flippedcracker, on 10/12/2007, -6/+46why would anyone keep their NES in the garage. that thing needs to be showcased on every entertainment center.
- jamauss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40"WunderWall" - instead of Mario and Luigi who do we get, Noel and Liam?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32"Some 20 users (and depending on application up to 50) can simultaniously interact in applications. "
I can't speak for anyone else, but 20 to 50 people in one room flailing around with hard plastic objects does not sound like a great time. In fact, it sounds freakin dangerous. - Sophren, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Wunder... who?...
- crgnetworks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30AH! it's 1977 again!!!!
- Aeiri, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21The quality of graphics don't matter as much as the fun-factor, but the ability to manuever in a three dimensional world as opposed to being limited to a two dimensional world like this console does makes the Wii better.
- rauz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10From the press release: "(The Wunderwall) has been readily available for quiet a while".
Quiet, indeed :) - TekeeTakShak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12The people in the video didn't look like they were having too much fun. No wonder sales suck for them.
- Lyianis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9The gist of the graphics vs gamplay debate is that graphics don't really matter unless they look like ass. Or directly effect the actual gameplay(aka 2d vs 3d envrioments and movement)
- crazybrit, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11What's your point? The NES has better games than a lot of consoles.
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6http://www.wunderwall.com/content/products/info/
Turns out the graphics aren't limited by the hardware at all, 'cause there is no hardware. All they really offer are the pointing devices. You hook up the receiver to a PC via USB.
So there's absolutely no reason you couldn't have cutting edge 3d in a wunderwall application. It's just that no one's developed one yet. - eggo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Powerglove wasn't a Nintendo offering, it was made by Mattel if I recall correctly.
- mbthompson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Damnit, I was just about to crack an Oasis joke.
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The DS had pictochat...
- megaloid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Obviously, you've never revelled in the zen-like perfection that is "Combat."
- turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I give it three weaks before oasis takes em down for the name.
- so1omon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Please tell me that you realize that Wonderwall is a 1968 movie with a score by George Harrison, and not just a song by Oasis. It was another example of their Beatles obsession.
- ja1217, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5TeekeeTakShark - "The people in the video didn't look like they were having too much fun. No wonder sales suck for them."
I believe you spelled "wunder" wrong. - lemorex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This has got to be a joke. WunderWall sounds like a plan from congress to protect America from illegal immigration, not a game console.
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3marketing, marketing, marketing, marketing.
They'd be doing a hell of a lot better if their product was available in every Toys R us, Target, Walmart, gamestop, and eb games in the US. And, if anyone had ever even ***** heard of them. - countmandible, on 11/15/2007, -1/+4multi pong? So great 40 people can be bored stiff at the same time?
- swgc5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Graphics don't matter you guys, it's all about gameplay. Forget the Wii and its "polygons", real gamers want the WunderWall! It's endorsed by Wil Wheaton by the way.......
- Phaedruss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ArcticXC, I would agree with you... except for the press release on WunderWall's site with the headline "Surprised by press attention for launch of Wiimote"
http://www.wunderwall.com/index_en.php - FuZ3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I dunno... If it was sub $100 I think playing with 20 people at the same time could be fun!
- guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Introducing WunderWall! We're better than NES!
- ArcticXC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh. Well, guess I'm a tard.
Carry on. - Seidoger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If they are actually "surprised", then they need a new marketing and press relations department.
- mattmoto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hm... looking at the buried state of my comment, it is obvious to see Digg users did not see the sarcasm in my statement.
Of course I understand the graphics vs. gameplay argument. I was just poking fun at those that believe that a game relies ONLY on gameplay, not graphics. There are indeed some people who believe that, such as my friends who snap at me whenever I even hint that graphics may be affecting my enjoyment of a particular game. - contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Impudent fool! No one besmirches MULTI-PONG! It is Pong.. SQUARED! Therefore, it's 40 times better than actual Pong, technically making Multi-Pong a digital orgasm!
/ultima-sarcasm - dualscreenman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Today's graphics are no longer at a point where they hinder gameplay. That's the difference. You can't really do much in the way of gameplay with Atari graphics...
- MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2try the photo channel, with two Wiimotes. Multiplayer draw. It's not perfect, but it gets the job done.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This technology seems better suited for applications other than gaming, considering that it's PC based.
You get a package with Wii. Plenty of games are abailable. It's a gaming console.
With Wunderwall all you get are some controllers, drivers, and you're pretty much on your own as far as software goes.
Not to say a company couldn't come out and create a "killer" wunderwall app, but seriously. There's no real marketing strategy behind this. No one has developed good games for it yet. That's the real problem with it. Who is going to buy these controllers without anything backing it up?
I doubt Nintendo stole the idea, though. Not that they're even claiming that, but motion sensoring technology is ancient. I'm sure this isn't the first time Nintendo has even dreamed it up. (Powerglove?) - Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Exactly!
- Yaku83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Maybe it's because the graphics look like an overclocked Atari 2600?"
Even though that statement is meant to be taken as a joke it sounds ridiculous...well....that an you probably weren't old enough to actually play a 2600. :P - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Isn't hard to beat the Wii.... OHHHHHH I'm being anti-wiimetic.
- Mugsleymug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2holy ***** that graffiti would be awesome. I hope wii has some multiplayer whiteboard action.
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4"You can't really do much in the way of gameplay with Atari graphics..."
I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Somehow, I get the feeling you don't either. I still pull my atari 800 out all the time. There are some friggin' awsome games on that thing. - kazuhima, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3i can so imagine it..
"Hi, is this this electronics department of Target? Do you have any WunderWalls?"
"What!?!" - KireGoTI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Um... I think it looks fun. And I would buy one, if the price is right.
I don't think it's moronic, in the graphics versus gameplay debate, to say that graphics really don't matter as long as you can tell what you're doing. My favorite videogames of all time include asteroids, battlezone, centipede, and hurricane. They're fantastic games wherein, arguably, everything onscreen looks like a phallus.
In addition, the controller looks more ergonomic than the Wii remote, and I really like the idea of more than four players in multiplayer, since I like to throw large parties that tend to wind up with about a dozen people waiting for a turn at Smash Brothers because of the four-player limit.
And, as someone already pointed out, the Wunderwall is theoretically more powerful than the Wii; it just happens that no one has developed games of that nature for it yet. Theoretically, you could run any first-person shooter that uses a mouse as the central control on this thing.
On the other hand, we must understand that the Wii has completely different capabilities due to things like gesture mapping, channels, Miis, online service, etc. Still, I think that everyone's being far too quick to write of the Wunderwall. You shouldn't knock it until you've tried it.
Also, just for curiosity's sake, did anyone get a price quote on this thing? - JimmyJJWalker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Was the 2600 reference directed at the Wii or the WunderWall?
- AtheisticTruth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's really funny is that at the time of my post, the WunderWall site is down due to the large amount of traffic they got from their stupid comments.
http://www.wunderwall.com/ only leads to http://www.wunderwall.com/website_unavail2.jpg - SGWyoshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0makes sence lol hooking up a high tech mouse to a computer thats connected to a television lol that looks like whats in that vid
i wish someone had a better picture of the real controller to see if its the same thing - trowazero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's fake. They are all using this mouse to play some hastily thrown together computer games.
http://www.x-tremegeek.com/templates/searchdetail.asp?productID=11913&sk=MX51419 - jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1My stance is: as long as it is fun.
And, yeah, they may have something that works similar to the Wii, but is it as fun? I really doubt it. Nintendo games are of the highest quality. - wassim2k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Maybe it's because nobody has ever heard of it?
- Gryph1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The graphics don't look .. well they look bad, but I don't think it's because of the graphics power anyways, looks a lot better than atari or nes as far as color depth and res:
http://www.wunderwall.com/content/products/games/
It seems to me the Wunderwall suffers from lack of developers and designers. - threepio, on 10/12/2007, -18/+16Ah yes, but the WunderWall also functions as a Dutch Oven.
Hiyo! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Poll: If you bought a console today, which one would it be? A WunderWall?
