- Chakz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+64Now all the WoW fans will get at least a little fresh air on their way into the theatre.
- sup191, on 10/12/2007, -3/+47Hopefully this movie will not be two hours of staring at a screen that says "Authenticating" or "Retrieving character list"...
- Dradis, on 10/12/2007, -7/+47I hear the film will include intermittent, unexplained cuts to a character farming gold out in the middle of nowhere for minutes on end. Also, one of the main characters will suddenly disappear in the middle of the film, due to being banned because he used keyboard macros.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41Don't forget *you are number 531 in queue to see this movie*...
- MikeMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30I hope the DVD doesn't have a monthly fee
- BigG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28That's assuming they don't just torrent the recording that one guys does opening night.
- Spudz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26The warrior in the film will become less and less effective a fighter as the movie progresses.
- VorpalK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16For accuracy though (which they are good at), Legacy will have to make sure that the first 20 minutes of the film is a full screen Login Queue message.
Also, half the main characters will need to teleport around randomly and then completely dissapear halfway through the climatic battle, only to reappear 5 minutes later, with lines like "effing server disconnected me, man"
Also, there should be a huge Nerf Hammer in the film.
This is, of course to maintain their reputation for accurate representation of the source material ;) - Beanlover, on 10/12/2007, -11/+24Leeeeroooooyyyyy!!
- gimlik, on 10/12/2007, -9/+22kek
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13That would jack up their latency time to much. My guess is, either they find a theater that has wifi, or someone sets up a few routers they all bring laptops and play while their in the movie.
- PBoiIceBerg, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Very promising news. Legendary Pictures did a wonderful job getting Batman Begins right and Superman Returns looks very good, as well.
- rushiku, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12The plot? of a MMORPG? surely, you jest.
Last I checked, 'pay fee, grind, pay fee, bitch about latest nerfing, pay fee' didn't count as plot.
This will be, obviously, a made-up story that follows 'xXsome_rand00m_gui_of_pain_blodd_and_fearXx' through his 'exploits' within the WoW universe. Filled to the brim with inside jokes that will leave the rapidly disappearing minority of non-WoW players that would actually go to see such tripe scratching their heads.
Yay, a 90 minute info-mercial masquerading as a movie. Make sure to sit through the credits so that you don't miss the 'exclusive' announcment of the next chapter in the WoW universe. - RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -12/+20Here's a short scene from their production footage...
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4446981554735098778 - silenceHR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8nope. it would be too short.
- supergwiz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12I'd rather see a StarCraft movie. Hopefully, this will be the progression after a WoW movie.
- kaje, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13I hope it doesn't suck like every other movie out there based on a video game.
- MadOgre, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10A Diablo movie would be pimp... As long as Blizzard kept creative control... Otherwise it would turn into D&D The Movie.
- dbre2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8because as we all know, movie studios are incapable of creating original ideas anymore.
- stevester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I hate movies from video games. Just because the game is good doesn't mean the movie is. Tomb Raider...
- Oxygen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8The real question is will it be CG Animated? or Live Action?
- scottjl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9will chuck norris be starring in it?
- apavluck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The druid will be a sexy little NE but she will be forced to gimp herself and go resto at the end of the movie if she wants to continue. She is torn and decides to re-roll as a warlock in the sequal.
Hopefully there will be a lot of Noob gankin fun.
In all seriousness can someone explain to me how this couldn't suck? - jodokast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Most movies based on video games are based on games without much story behind them. Warcraft on the other hand has tons of lore and history. It shouldn't be too hard to make this a good movie.
I just hope Weta does the effects. - ramiro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7You'll have to read the titles because the dialogues will be in Chinese.
- Henge, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I smell an Oscar, but only if Leroy Jenkins is the main character.
- zirtbow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Next will be a movie based on digg user comments.... I hear critics are planning on giving it 2 diggs up.
- hesiod, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Subject: Re: World of Warcraft: The Movie
Dear Warner Bros.,
Please don't.
Sincerely,
Peon - everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8this is a great idea! i loved Dungeons and Dragons when IT was made into a movie!
oh wait, no i didn't... SHI-! - Xinareiaz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Haha on that page if you hover over the "World of warcraft" text it has an add for buying WoW gold.
- Oxygen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Who knows? Maybe it'll be a documentary :P
- ramiro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3All is possible with the use of Noggenfogger Elixir, Winterfall Firewater and Gnomish World Enlarger.
- haunted, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4All Blizzard needs to do is release a 90-plus minute FMV. Their videos in WC3 (hell, even Starcraft if you ignore the color depth) are soooo smooth.
Screw well-known human actors; give Blizzard enough money to produce their greatest FMV (until they make Starcraft 2). - omirix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think it will be about the general storyline... I don't think it will be about a single gamer.
- djdole, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Oh god...
I can see it now. We'll standing in line to buy popcorn and some kid in front with a viking helmet and a staff will be screeching about not being able to decide between (plus)2 Recess Pieces, or (plus)3 Sour Patch Kids.
(btw...WTF is it with Digg not linking PLUS signs in comments?) - MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6lol.. to those digging down gimlik, kek is "lol" in Orcish.
- theblackgecko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Don't have Uwe Boll direct.
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4My question is....WHY?
- rhenan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2oh lord.. too funny!
- Strangers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That is the lamest thing I have ever heard. In my life. And I had to sit through that whole "freedom fries", and "roses of Mohammed" *****.
- SillyRabbit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh but DOOM was awesome *rolls eyes*
- Brak710101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I can see it now...
"Handshaking"
*THX sound noise*
"Disconnected from server"
Crowd: "WTF!" - Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3World of Warcraft movie? Where does WoW come in? From the sound of it, they're making a Warcraft movie, not a WoW movie. In case people haven't noticed, the Warcraft universe has had a consistent plot dating back to "Warcraft: Orcs & Humans".
- whisperstorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ohh this is so going to suck...
- Thezeppelin62, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3^^^^ that google trailer is not the real trailer you spammer. I cant wait to see this movie.
Press Release
http://www.blizzard.com/press/060509.shtml - Eronysis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WTS ticket 100g
WTS ticket 100g
WTS ricket 110g
WTS sticket 100g!!!
WTS ticket 100! - merm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I heard that over half the female characters in the film will actually be guys.
- jonashwing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3the site this blurb linked to is horrible with their advertising. TONS of mouse-overs. if you have a mouse disconnect it. uninstall the driver in fact. that's the only way to get through reading that site.
- danjal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3havn't they learned yet.. you can't make movies into a game... lets face it.. games are games and movies are movies.. how many times do we need to have them vomit over are beloved games to give us some hacked up film that goes no where, fast, i mean.. mario brothers, resident evil, and very sadly doom...
lets face it, they are running out of ideas and now they're just trying to run on the gravy train of the computer game industry, with a game it's more involved, more hands on, and thats why we love the games so much, because for a few dollars you can sit back, kick life away and become sombody else, you can't do that, and never will be able to with a film based on a game, and thats why they all flop. - PerfectCELL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Jeez if they can make a movie about WC then someone needs to make a movie about HalfLife. That game is truly worthy of a movie, if done right.
