- bobcrotch, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14Is there something wrong with trying to be the best at what ever you do? Even if it's a video game?
BTW I don't play wow. - NielZ, on 10/11/2007, -6/+16Actually, both Nihilum and Method (the guilds involved) agree with each other. Nihilum killed Lady Vashj (the evil monster) first, however, due to a glitch Vashj lost suddenly 10% of her health during the fight. In WoW, that's a lot. After that first kill Nihilum never entered the room again, as a form of protest.
Method killed her without the 10%-bug, and they were using extraordinary lots of buffs (power-up, things that make you stronger, w/e). Method néver claimed the first kill, they claimed the second one.
Now some say Nihilum cheated, some say Method used too much buffs.
I just think you háve be extraordinary to become 1st/2nd in the world. You don't get Olympic gold by practicing sports 2hrs every Saturday afternoon with some of your friends. It takes time and dedication. It's the same in WoW.
And yeah, it's a game. Some people are just good at it, just let them be. :) - waveman216, on 10/11/2007, -5/+14wtf is this talking about?
- DiggityDugged, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8jesus, 93 diggs, make this front page. has digg really changed that much with the new topics system?
- Detritus, on 10/11/2007, -8/+13I haven't listened to this, and haven't played WoW in over a year (I got off when it felt like a treadmill to me)... but is this saying that these 2 guilds are crying over who killed a monster first and one of the 2 guilds disputes the validity of the other's because they were using extrodinary but none-the-less "in the game" methods to achieve the kill?
I don't think you WoW guys want this to hit the front page... The rest of the world already thinks you're fat, like in the South Park episode, do you want them thinking you're emo too? - Duncarob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Sadly if you are unable to comprehend the phrase 'This story will only interest WoW players' then no amount of translation is going to help you :(
- nhillyer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Sitting at a computer for 8 hours a day is so much healthier than going out and getting some exercise.
- FeargusMcDuff, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7It's a very impressive job and Method are very skilled at what they do. Yes it may seem very silly to someone who does not play computer games seriously, but as we all know, people that get hobbies can become very obsessed with them. Now, I think World of Warcraft is a much better hobby than sports, but that's an opinion that is sole mine. Disagree with me if you want, i don't mind.
Reach - Draenei shaman: Arathor EU - futility, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2While WoW != the Olympics it is sort of impressive to do something in the game first. I mean I'm sure there are a lot more people playing WoW than there are say Curling (worst Olympic sport ever). A lot of the endgame bosses in the game are really really tough until there becomes an established stratagem in defeating them (from which they just become really tough) so it is a bit of a deal to be one of the first to do the job.
Now how someone accomplishes beating a boss first it were we keeping in an Olympic/WoW analogy would really be like looking at doping and training. Using too many power ups is like saying a particular athlete trains too much, and that's just silly. But if there's a glitch or some sort of cheat abused, that would be akin to using say steroids...
Also as a side note, a lot of the people in the hardcore raiding guild probably put in as much if not more than physical sport athletes.
lol I just made the above argument - ramiro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2WoW != Olympics
WoW == Special Olympics - Duncarob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Well there's a part of the summary that you should be able to read no matter how mindnumbingly terrible your comprehension is and that's the part that says 'This story will only interest WoW players'. You might as well be walking into a movie theatre and watching a foreign film without subtitles and then whining that you don't understand what they're saying.
- Harvey_Mushman, on 10/11/2007, -8/+10 Are the title and summary even written in English? Where's my secret decoder ring?
- Golik, on 10/11/2007, -5/+6Very enjoyable. Great personalities and great content.
- TotalHalibut, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You should find the download working again as of now. Sadly our site has grown a little faster than our server could handle, which is great to see, though it gives our webteam a headache :)
- ChrisZion, on 10/11/2007, -5/+6Another brilliant interview. Keep them coming.
- SeaofChaos, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Another great interview TB. 'Course Blizzard won't bother fixing the encounter for another two months....if that.
- dewy99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0lol they are indeed, however if you want to understand this specific kind of English you should listen to P2L at wcradio.com ;)
(Haven't played wow for half a year but I am still keeping up =) - Kunio, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Good stuff
- remraf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0As in all things it's also here not possible and very unproductive to state one general opinion and apply this one opinion to the whole matter. Like not every islamic believer is a terrorist not every wow player is fat. I hope you get the point. It's all about prejudices.
- Vidfreek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Meanwhile people like drunkenentig3r are trolling digg comments. Much better then playing a game, obviously ;)
Great interview TB, lots cleared up that I was confused about. - ahhell, on 10/11/2007, -12/+12You're comparing WOW to the Olympics? HAHA
Are you for real? - refujee, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Anyone have a mirror?
- Ophidion, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3Nice interview, not as exciting at the Nihilium one but just as good.
- Cayr, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3As usual, TB, quality interview!
- TubaTechno, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1@NielZ
Thanks for the clarification.
I played WoW for about 2 weeks. 90% of that time I just spent running....and running....and running. Got to lvl14 and it got very boring... - drunkentig3r, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0I feel sorry for the woman your with Haggie-nothing like having children with someone from the short end of the gene pool. =)
- Zoenn, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2Well done TB :)
- Tripod2391, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3Great job TB excellent interview with good questions and good answers. I really enjoyed listening to it.
- eratix, on 10/11/2007, -4/+0Down already? Weak website...
- haggie, on 10/11/2007, -9/+4I don't live in my parent's basement and I have known the joys of being with a woman, can someone translate this for me?
- Piknik, on 10/11/2007, -11/+2Great interview. I did not think this page would receive any fame. WoW is getting its popularity on the block, Especially end-game raiding.
