- opnickc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+123If they had wifi they wouldn't be WIRED now would they?
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -7/+41Seriously, does anyone really miss "DVD playback" from a console?
- PleaseJustDie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30I need DVD Playback on my wii, having it on my DVD player/burner, Xbox, and PS2 just isn't enough for me.
- Jaq524, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Oh, I can tell you the precise voltage for either console: 110v! If you're in the US.
Okay that was a little dickish. - Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25Volts and Watts are 2 diffrent things my man.
- namtellum, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25No way! Hey everyone, we landed on the moon!
- Mewchu11, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25I never knew the Wii was so energy efficient and/or the PS3 was such a voltage vampire...
- Jaq524, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22The whole quote: "Wii online via a USB dongle ($30) that links to a PC over Wi-Fi."
... - JayD16, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16How about Joule Thief?
- aaronkarp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16"How do you say boondoggle in Japanese?"

What a valuable contribution to this conversation by me. - wafflez, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15>_> i own a ps3...until I see some good games like warhawk, mgs4, dmc4, ffxiii, etc, I'd have to say the wii wins by a longshot.
- PleaseJustDie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11congratz on being blocked.
- seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -13/+23They test the "Wii online via a USB dongle ($30) that links to a PC over..."
Don't they have Wi-Fi at Wired? - Mewchu11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Yes I know that it wasn't the correct term. It just sounded better than a "wattage werewolf".
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -10/+19The real question is: Is anyone honestly surprised?
The PS3 was way over-hyped. - shadus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Yah, but dvd playback is a big deal, I mean look at how much a dvd player costs... lets see... $200.00 these days ... oh wait... no... it's all of $30.
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5270015 - Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9It'd be convenient, but no, it's certainly not a deal-killer.
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Honestly? I have no DVD player except for my smallish laptop and would love to have the feature on my Wii. It also wouldn't have mattered to me if it would've cost 10€ or so more, since I didn't pay for it.
Then I realise I'm definitely in a tiny minority on this, and Nintendo probably did the smart thing with the Wii. - benitojuarez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I guess in the the nintendo vs sony fanboy showdown id pick nintendo even though im a pc gamer and dont plan on getting any console.....but this is one lame ass article. its just a couple of bullet points, i was expecting at least a little more indepthness.
- jawbreaker4fs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Screw everyone that dugg GfxWench down. I own a Wii and I love it... but you have to recognize false specs when you see them
Edit: nevermind, I saw that this guy posted the same thing 100 times... what a douchebag. - Bobalobabingbon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You just make yourself look like an idiot posting the same thing over and over. Once is enough to get your point across.
- chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3From a hardcore gamer's standpoint, the Wii isnt fun based on current line up aside from Zelda. But Nintendo is primarilly targeting non-gamers and non-customers at the moment and Wii Sports is THE game.
- Diggtatorship, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Screwed the pooch? You sir, are a genius.
- JaySherman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What a patetic douchebag. Who is the real fanboy? Wired, wich got the numbers wrong or GfxWench who posts the same comment again and again.
Mr GfxWench, you are by definition, a fanboy. - razordancer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Is that anything like truthiness?
- KayMan2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"The remote-shaped controller features a built-in speaker, force feedback, infrared transmitters, and gyroscopes"
The Wii remote does not feature infrared transmitters, it has one 640x480 infrared reciever.
The Wii remote does not feature gyroscopes, it uses other similar mechanisms to measure tilt and acceleration. - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3without taking up the abritrary scoring system into account other than zelda which games has the PS3 launch library beat hands down? Now if the PS3 launched with FFXIII would people be saying the same thing?
Why doesn't cnets head to head hit the front page? - shadus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Blocked and Buried even.
- Bobalobabingbon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Good catch!
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Bye! I hope you never come back!!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Am I the only one that sees Wired as being dated and out of touch now?
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@GfxWench
You claim that Wired is practicing FUD by stating the PS3 uses 7x the power of the Wii, but you refute them by linking to a site that shows the PS3 uses 10x the power of the Wii. WTF?!? You're the lamest troll on digg GfxWench. I actually have a soft spot for trolls but you're just an idiot, and I don't say that lightly. Grow up! - Bobalobabingbon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Dude, get a life!
- snachodog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Old news, FTW!
- wolfwood278, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Dude! Does it matter the numbers were lower than what they wrote? Its still the highest of the 3 systems! And your acting like a fanboy your damn self.
- chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3In the eyes of the non-gamer/non-customer, it doesnt really matter if AAA titles like MGS4/FFXIII is on the PS3. Wii Sports, Wii Music, Wii Health, Wii Nintendogs, any one of those(assuming they are as good and addicting as Wii Sports) will beat any traditional AAA titles just because the market has shifted. Wii Sports is THE killer app for the Wii at the moment and other Wii Series titles are on the way this year just because they are so cheap to produce. And they actually move systems.
- shadus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Pot say hello to kettle.
Everyone who disagrees with your opinion ISN'T a fanboy. They used SONY'S ANNOUNCED NUMBERS FOR THE PS3. Are they wrong? Yes. Does it make them a fanboy? No. Guess what? They used Nintendo's announced numbers too... woo... those are lower IRL too.
What the hell is wrong with you people anyways? The mentality you have is exactly the mentality that has caused 99% of the atrocities in this world... "If its not the way i believe its wrong and you become the enemy!" wtf, over a console? over religion? over political aims? wtf. Get a real life.
***** like this makes you one thing: A toolbag. Nice spam jerk off. - Jaq524, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The "F" in "FUD" stands for "fear", if I'm correct. If any part of a console war makes anyone genuinely fear something, then they're an idiot.
Oh yeah and BTW 180 watts is still a lot more than 53. - AdmiralAwsome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To all who are chewing Wired out, they aren't a gaming magazine; they were giving a general overview of the system. To the fanboys of both sides does it matter what anyone else buys. Some may like the PS3 for MGS4 or Blu-Ray others may want a Wii for sports or the Classics on the VC. Honestly though, does it really matter what anyone else buys, it's not like anyone that buys either automatically gets shares in the company. There that's my rant.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1figures. *eye roll
- Renton, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Kanji and chinese are pretty much the same.
- Renton, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"And, gee, lookee, the Wired guy tried to make the PS3 more expensive by pretending only the WiFi enabled PS3 exsits."
What? - james78, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what's the point in getting a ps3 or 360 gameing is based on playing games not watching stupid little dvds i mean wii used more up to date stuff but yet ps3 and 360 have better graphics but we all know that graphics aren't evreything it's all about the gameplay!
- freakgd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3STOP these ***** wii stories, THIS IS JUST OPINION, buried for being the same lame ***** we have heard for 2 months already.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Wow, I haven't heard this story about a million times since the more than 2 months both of the systems have been released. Owning both of them I could really freaking care less what magazine X thinks.
- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Heh. The PS3 wasn't "over-hyped" at all, that is it's problem. It had NO good press from any news outlets. Everyone was saying it was too expensive. People, for some reason, liked the "family-image" of the Wii. If the PS3 was overhyped, it would be winning right now. Everyone would hear that the PS3 was much better then the Wii and go get the PS3. The PS3, from the beginning, failed to connect with the masses due to everyone making fun of Sony.
More hype = more developer support. - hode, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5They test the Wii online vs. a USB dongle. Winner is... Wii!
- jacksons98, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2@Mamesj I agree with you Wii had a good launch list of titles, Wario, Zelda, Excitetruck, etc.. Nintendo nailed their launch line up, but I think Sony has a better 2007 line up overall.
I have both Wii and PS3 and I wish everyone could own both. It's really not one vs the other they both are different experiences. PS3 is great for games like Resistance, MGS4, GT:HD, etc. Wii isn't technically capable of those games, but games like Wii Sports, Wario, Trauma center, etc wouldn't be the same without the Wii remote. - robotmedic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1My wife actually plays the wii.....enough said
- mark_in_bc, on 10/12/2007, -9/+8The PS3 is already a failure. It's just a matter of time before it goes the way of the Dreamcast. All you can do is wish them luck in the Next Gen Wars.
