Will we see a new Starcraft or Diablo? Check out Blizzards Homepage
blizzard.com — Look at what appeared when I went to the blizzard home page, this confirms that we should be expecting a announcement from blizzard soon as to what game they have had in the works. Is it a new Starcraft, Diablo or even something else? You decide.

- ninjapheret, on 10/11/2007, -6/+76Just noticed this too. The question mark sort of appears on its own timeline... could it be a new series? I'd have to bet on SC2 since the announcement is going to be made in the StarCraft capital of South Korea...
- olddirtycr, on 10/11/2007, -15/+340***** better not be warcraft 4.
And that timeline looks really ... poorly made? - Eivo, on 10/11/2007, -33/+117World of Starcraft?
- twtmc, on 10/11/2007, -22/+241@ Eivo
We can only pray that it is not. - Vicissidude, on 10/11/2007, -110/+15This stupid graphic doesn't say anything. It's just a waste of time. Amazing that this crap makes it to the front page.
- davidhildreth, on 10/11/2007, -3/+44damn it blizzard, no one likes a tease!
- BlakeEM, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10I read way back that they hired someone that did the music for previous diablo games. Not sure if it turned out to be real or not but that would be my guess.
- natmaster, on 10/11/2007, -12/+46@Eivo
No world of anything - Blizzard already explicitly said the announcement will NOT be another MMO. - DoodleMaster, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Why, WHY do they have to tease us....with the question mark :(
- DoodleMaster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+64Sorry for the double post but check out this from the source...
background:url(/images/splash/day1.jpg) will there be a day 2? - dbxz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+37edit: aw u beat me to it doodlemaster...
It looks like we will get an answer in about 4-6 days? since the image is called day 1?
http://blizzard.com/images/splash/day1.jpg - Eivo, on 10/11/2007, -11/+3@ natmaster
Oh, Thank Goodness!!!
I would like Diablo 3... :D - nonpareil, on 10/11/2007, -13/+158Anything but another MMORPG. Monthly fees suck.
- dbxz, on 10/11/2007, -14/+50"Anything but another MMORPG. Monthly fees suck."
play one without fees then... for example guildwars isnt bad at all - rishid, on 10/11/2007, -1/+49I am pretty sure the next days will just highlight the next two games on the timeline while changing the box art.
- DyDx, on 10/11/2007, -41/+3Hasn't it all but been confirmed that the new title is a Starcraft MMO?
- alexforcefive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+14"play one without fees then... for example guildwars isnt bad at all"
Rappelz is also fun!
Anyway back on topic... I would be so ***** ecstatic if this wasn't an MMO... but it probably will be. My heart yearns for Diablo 3 though. - Jugalator, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19"Sorry for the double post but check out this from the source...
background:url(/images/splash/day1.jpg) will there be a day 2?"
"Day 2" (= tomorrow) will no doubt change the highlighted text to Diablo / Starcraft, and show their boxes, "day 3" being Diablo II / Warcraft III, etc... - lukas88, on 10/11/2007, -2/+55Ok, how many of blizzard's games end up being disappointing? I realize this makes me sound very fanboyish, but time and time again they seem to come out with extremely innovative games, especially in the PC market. I have liked their games ever since The Lost Vikings, that was probably like 10 years ago. I suppose you could give them a little credit. Even if it is something you think you will hate, chances are you probably won't.
- Daveecee, on 10/11/2007, -4/+40A new Lost Vikings, how about
- SimpleC, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Almost 10 years ago after Blizzard created Warcraft II they decided to take the series into a different direction and create Warcraft Adventures, which was going to be a point and click adventure game. They eventually canceled the game, released a book, and used the story and characters from that game in Warcraft III. I can see history repeating itself when Blizzard postponed Starcraft: Ghost back in March last year. They eventually released a book later that year and nothing new about that game was announced. Most likely Starcraft II will be shown incorporating story and characters from Starcraft: Ghost.
- stgeorge, on 10/11/2007, -1/+97Obviously, the announcement is Starcraft related since it's being held in Korea. Therefore, irrefutably infallible logic demands:
The announcement is for a new Starcraft-themed armor set in World of Warcraft! - antiorblkflag9, on 10/11/2007, -16/+1Rumors have already started flying around that Starcraft 2 will be a MMORPG......
- jsreid, on 10/11/2007, -0/+35"Day 2" (= tomorrow) will no doubt change the highlighted text to Diablo / Starcraft, and show their boxes, "day 3" being Diablo II / Warcraft III, etc...
and on the fourth day, Blizzard created Starcraft II. - zulfy26, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27In the last 4 days they've posted 2 jobs for the mobile platform. I really hope its not StarCraft on the iPhone :(
- Spo8, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2It's not really on it's own time line. It's just on the center of the one time line instead of off to each side like the others.
- kaffein, on 10/11/2007, -14/+6@DBXZ,
Guild Wars is not an MMO.
To quote the devs directly:
"Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game)."
Also as to how the game does not require a monthly fee, I think this is due to the "server instances" being handled between the players bandwidth and such, much like an RTS. The only bandwidth costs they probably have are the "3D meeting rooms," the automatic patching bandwidth and the website. (Though I'm still not exactly sure how their system is set up.)
All this said, the game is nice for what it is. - itatag, on 10/11/2007, -0/+32Everyone knows It's going to be Rock and Roll Racing MMO.
- dn11, on 10/11/2007, -7/+3This is strange, what is the significance of showing the Warcraft and Warcraft 2 boxes with the release dates?
n/m... figured it out... they are going to be counting down to the announcement showing different game boxes
My bet: Lost Vikings MMO!! - wasabioss, on 10/11/2007, -0/+39there is no cow level.
- geniusj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3@kaffein,
Guild Wars is in no way peer-to-peer. It is 100% client-server. You are using their servers at all times. But don't take my word for it, check for yourself.
I think the reality is that if you plan your client/server infrastructure properly, it need not be so expensive. They've said time and time again that running an MMO-type game is not nearly as expensive as people would have you believe. After all, bandwidth isn't that expensive (they're probably paying in the neighborhood of $20-30/mbit). - kaffein, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1@Genius,
Either way however they have it setup, it is setup to not be much of a loss on their end. They would be charging monthly for their services otherwise... - ElectricGrandpa, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5"The question mark sort of appears on its own timeline... could it be a new series?"
If you read the names of the games on the timelines, you'll realize that the vertical timeline position doesn't have to do with anything... It's on it's "own timeline" because it's just in the vertical center of the timeline - that's it... I'm very doubtful that it's a new series. Why do that when you've got an awesome brand(ie. Starcraft) that will sell millions even if it's horrible(which it definitely won't be). - texpundit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+25"I really hope its not StarCraft on the iPhone :("
I would give up multiple body parts to be able to play the new Starcraft on my DS Lite.
ZERG RUSH WHILE RIDING THE METRO! WOO! - chingy1788, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3It better be Starcraft2, thats the only world they haven't visited for the most amount of time
and if they make another MMORPG I will probably hurt someone - musicfreak21, on 10/11/2007, -8/+2I have a credible insider friend at Blizzard.....and yes expect it soon....
- HarryHunt, on 10/11/2007, -4/+0It could be Starcraft: Ghost. Maybe they're finally releasing that. It's been indefinitely postponed in 2006.

- acex23, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16Guys, c'mon. It's a new starcraft. There's no way they went to South Korea to announce anything else. I think we all know that.

- SearchX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Looks like next year will be the 10 year anniversary of Starcraft's release. I'm guessing it'll be Starcraft 2.

- iloveroundtable, on 10/11/2007, -9/+5Diablo > Starcraft IMO
- dn11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Does anyone else think that the look of the timeline is a hint? It has a "high tech" blue-glowly-scan-line look that fits into the Starcraft aesthetic, and it almost looks like stars in the background. The same could be said for the Korean site http://wwi.blizzard.co.kr/
- airwalkery2k, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5If it turns out to be World of Warcraft 2, another expansion pack, or some new MMO, I'm sure many fans will lose their faith in Blizzard doing anything other than MMO's from this point on.
- betterth, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2@geniusj
The servers of Guild Wars and World of Warcraft are totally different. In WoW, each continent is a seamless, whole zone with no breaks or loading until you leave the massive continent. You play with people on your server, period.
In Guild Wars, there are tons of zones and down time, and you're only near people in the few cities. Otherwise, everything is totally instanced and the server doesn't have to worry about it at all.
Not to mention, the massive amounts of updates in content that get delivered to WoW, that money comes from somewhere. Programmers don't live on peanuts, and theres a reason why vastly more content is released to WoW than GW.
I just fail to see how you compare GW and WoW. Totally different, one is the true decendent of games like UO and EQ, a worthy heir to the throne of MMO, and one is kinda like Counter-Strike, and instead of a server selection screen, you have a 3d interactive chatroom. In fact I like that analogy. GW is nothing compared to WoW imo, which is totally proved by the fact that WoW has 2x more CURRENT PAYING customers than GW has TOTAL SALES. - foolfromhell, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3There is no "timeline"
They alternate. - doronster195, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2In case you haven't noticed already, Blizzard has just posted a Teaser Timeline on their homepage to countdown to their next game announcement on the 19th of this month. Take a look!
From the color scheme and style of the design, it looks very Starcrafty to me. Aside from the fact that Starcraft is the only game on there without a sequel, those vertical blue scanlines just scream of sci-fi. What do you guys think? Are they just trying to throw us Diablo 3 hopefuls off or is this further confirmation that another Starcraft is coming up next? Or will the long-rumored Tacocraft finally be unveiled?
Source: Diablo3.com - kalak5, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0the Diablo 1 image is up... Interesting.
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I don't know if anyone else is still reading this, but I just noticed that there are two gaps in the timeline, where it looks almost like games could have been... And they're in the same spots that Warcraft Adventures(after SC) and Starcraft:Ghost(after War3) would have been.
- keikun, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Hello Kitty Island Adventure?
- olddirtycr, on 10/11/2007, -15/+340***** better not be warcraft 4.
- ShadowOfEclipse, on 10/11/2007, -46/+2I screen captured :P
- VaporBro, on 10/26/2007, -0/+26...good job dude...
- JustinSane, on 10/11/2007, -38/+2Most of the games appearing on the top of the timeline are RPG/MMO. This blue area appears to be shining to the low part of the timeline. Maybe an RTS? Or maybe they are combining their series into 1 game like Ubisoft?
- baldr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+37No, the games are alternating sides, they are not sorted by genre in any way.
- mdaize, on 10/11/2007, -4/+0heheh oh look, its the Protoss Andarial's hireling, the night elf druid
- Orlex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Is anyone else absolutely amazed that they can keep it so tight lipped? You would think at least one person at Blizz would tell someone, the fact that it hasn't been leaked is pretty impressive.
- xShad0w, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1That kind of situation is just like iphone, the iphone was kept in absolute secrecy for a year or a really long time and not a single person said anything...contrary to the zune, it was well known before it was released, kind of funny. People are loyal to apple but not microsoft.
- nukethewhales, on 10/11/2007, -15/+19No mention of their Super NES career. Some of their best titles were one that system.
- Syphon8, on 10/11/2007, -28/+3Are you ***** insane?
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/11/2007, -24/+7Silly console gamers.
- lukas88, on 10/11/2007, -2/+33Not insane, just old.
The Lost Vikings, Rock and Roll Racing.... - Syphon8, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19I mean in the sense that, "Ok, those are good games. But I'd like to go play StarCraft now."
- dn11, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15remember Blackthorne?
- bigp3rm, on 10/11/2007, -30/+99My vote is for D3!
- psevium, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16Yeah, even though hell is destroyed, hopefully they can think of something because ***** I want that game.
- bob_the_alien, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2I'm hoping the same thing, but I'm not expecting it.
- ncairns, on 10/11/2007, -36/+188***** Diablo III.
Give me StarCraft 2. - jggr, on 10/11/2007, -11/+6It won't be D3... That's Hellgate London.
It's SC2, and I'll take any and all bets to those who say it's not. Hell, I'll even give you odds. - shableep, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16my vote is for Diablo 3, too. but i have a feeling it's gonna be the new Starcraft in some form... since it's the only one without a sequel. i donno
- ryllharu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14If it is a Diablo 3, I would not be the least surprised if it was an MMO style like Hellgate: London. They mentioned that the world would change dramatically when the Worldstone was shattered, and I could easily see them doing a forces of hell/forces of heaven MMO.
I'm still hoping for a Starcraft 2 though, and the StarCraft 1.15 Patch they announced on April 25 gives me the faintest glimmer of hope for it. - sexycommando, on 10/11/2007, -1/+89If they went all the way to Korea just to announce a new Diablo, there will be riots in Seoul.
- TechCF, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2D3 would be awesome, but I would really like a new WAR2 or SC
And I really hope its multiplatform! - estvir, on 10/11/2007, -8/+4Just for the record Blizzard, my first-born and kidney are both on offer to help you make the tough decision between D3 and SC2.
D3, you know it's the right choice, for mankind. - Morphinity, on 10/11/2007, -9/+5I sooooooooooooooooooo hope it's Diablo...
- VaporBro, on 10/26/2007, -7/+3I've been waiting for Diablo III now for far to long...I need this game...to live...
- tempusrob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3"Give me StarCraft 2."
Seriously. They had me glued to my computer for I don't know how long with the Starcraft: Ghost tease, trying to figure out what it was. I was furious. :(
But, I won't buy the hype this time. I'll just wait for the announcement. Fool me once...
- mikefitz2, on 10/11/2007, -363/+12starcraft isnt even that fun i mean ive never played it but it looks so old
this has been buried- Tetragrammaton, on 10/11/2007, -7/+94Well that was insightful of you. I'm guessing you get LOTS of diggs! Keep it up!
- dRottin, on 10/11/2007, -5/+48Creating an opinion without playing? That's pretty informed of you.
While were at it, why don't we just discard games like Metal Gear Solid, Zelda, or hell, even Super Mario Bros. as being great experiences just because the graphics are outdated? - styn, on 10/11/2007, -5/+33I logged in just to digg you down.
I don't want to even begin arguing with you, but I don't think that's necessary. Since you're just giving us arguments to not thrust your judgement.
"isn't fun"..."haven't played it"... Too easy! Looks old, wel yeah, maybe because it IS?
EDIT: ok you guys beat me to it:) - BaoUnit, on 10/11/2007, -6/+13If you haven't played it, than what the hell do you mean by "starcraft isn't even that fun..."?
- an7agonist, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12I'm pretty sure he's just joking... I hope
- razrielle, on 10/11/2007, -4/+29I still have starcraft on my computer

- hankidic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13starcraft is old and not as 'pretty' as today's games. but it's still a great game, i still burn hours on it now and then.
- nathanwalker, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9I've still got my battle chest set that i bought back in like '01. Starcraft is installed on a ghost image i have for my computer.
- lithera, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I never played Starcraft either. (Ok ok, I installed it and decided after a few mins. it wasnt my kind of game)
BUT!
A game that still is able to keep thousands and thousands of players busy every day, in Korea's case almost became the national sport after almost 10 friggin years is truly amazing, unheard of even. Kuddos to Blizzard for that. - mikefitz2, on 10/11/2007, -22/+1yall don't know me ur just a bunch of keyboard warriors

BTW, I still have StarCraft and BroodWars installed on both of my high-end machines. I play it regularly. Protoss Arbiter stealing terran SVCs to create an EXTRA army FTW. - 010101, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1you all missed the joke..

- Darkyuubi, on 10/11/2007, -15/+90I swear, if this is a new Diablo and not a new Starcraft, heads will roll...
- dbxz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+25what if its not one of either... lets hope for at least one of the two.
- icaruscollapse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17The thing is, I have total faith in Blizzard in making a quality game. I've played every game they've made, starting with WC2, and I've gone back and played The Lost Vikings and the like. So if they did come out with something new, I have no doubt it would be great, they just don't like coming out with crap. Look, they scrapped SC:Ghost, rather than come out with a sub-par game.
So if May 19th brings us CucumberCraft: The First Vegetable War, I'll buy it when it comes out and probably love it.
- Chewie67, on 10/11/2007, -13/+33I agree. If this is Warcraft 4, then Blizzard is just a one-trick pony.
I want Diablo III or something totally new. Enough of the Warcraft crap. Move one- RexyRex, on 10/11/2007, -5/+58You don't want Starcraft?

- ryancxx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23what a twist!
- LordVance, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I know you were most likely joking; but it definitely will not be a diablo based MMORPG. They already have a flagship product for the sword/board fantasy MMORPG market. I could see them coming out with a Starcraft MMORPG to try and capture the sci-fi market though (however, I think its most likely going to be Starcraft II, strategy - thats where they would definitely make the most money/thunder in the industry).
People have been pining for Starcraft II... hard. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the series - I fell in love with Blizzard through their Diablo series (nothing against SC/Warcraft, I'm just not a big strategy game fan... My friend Cheech always rolled me, wasn't fun). I love the SC world though, and of course will purchase and play through whatever they release... damn fanboi in me... - PowerCat, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2World of diablo = guild wars.
- zzz@tkz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2World of Diablo=Diablo II?
It's not gonna be a MMO, as stated, Blizz said no on that. So no WoSC, and probably not a new Diablo game. This leaves us with WC and SC...They're working on a new WoW expansion (odd that no one has thought of them talking about that, but I doubt they will), so this leaves us with SC2... - puttly, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1if you want a sci-fi mmo theres Eve-online, a highly successful scifi mmo... it's also really fun if you have the time for it
- MisterFlaut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2World of Diablo = WoW

Paladins?

- Skooj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The flash splash appears to be more for the upcoming invitational, and not really an announcement. But I may be completely wrong.
- jp007, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1Woah woah, what is this picture of the elf looking chic holding some kind of serpent thingy when it says "2007 ?" I dunno wtf that is from. Perhaps WOW (I don't play it so I dunno), but they already had a WOW image before that... If that is any kind of clue, I think StarCraft fans are going to be in for a big disappointment. We shall see.. Anyone have a good explanation or insight as to what that image is?
- Morphinity, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Uhhhh, I am pretty sure that's for The Burning Crusade. That's a Blood Elf.
- jp007, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3@Morphinity
Good call on the blood elf. As I said, I don't WoW, so I didn't really know what it was. None of the other games had additional character art pop up for their expansions, so I thought maybe it wasn't WoW related and may have had something to do with the next game. Thankfully it isn't though. You've given me a sense of relief! - zzz@tkz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Yeah, that's a Belf with a mana serpent from WoW...
Slightly off-topic: Making Belfs have the ability to become rogues is stupid...completely destroys the back story on their love for magic lead them to evil... - wburglett, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1anybody know korean?
- Fikiman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It does have a D2 Character there... the assassin I think she was... I sooooo want D3... and I soooo want SC2...
I think I wouldn't care about which one it was, I'm strapping my hands to the keyboard and mouse anyway... lol
- muffins, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4It probably is SC2 but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they pumped out WC4. Why? Well theres a few reasons:
1. All the WC3 fans would wet themselves [yeah...me too :( ] if they got to continue the adventure and finally face up against Arthas.
2. Also now that Blizzard has attracted a never before seen amount of average people to play World of Warcraft they probably are betting their boots that all these new WoW players might give a new WC title a try. $$$
3. (This ones more for avid WoW players) If you bought the expansion and are pretty knowledgeable about it you too realize that Blizzard was careful to not touch the storyline of Illidan when using him nor did they do anything to WoW in general that wouldn't be able to be carried over to WC4.
I could be absolutely wrong though.- Orlex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Illidan is in WoW now, and if I'm not mistaken you fight him in the Black Temple in the new patch.
- Crazyiodudo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2If they made it another Warcraft game, there would be so many lore timeline issues.
They hit it huge with Warcraft as an MMORPG, no need to revisit it with an RTS(right now). - muffins, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You do fight him, but the catch is you don't actually kill him :)
- Oeqn, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9It will be almost impossible for a new Star Craft to live up to the legend of first one. While it was an amazing game, time has made people remember the game being greater than it was.
- jggr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Time has nothing to do with it. SC was the first (and possibly only) RTS I've played that has it all... Story, balance, and re-playability.
/Seriously, why are we arguing and guessing??? It's SC2, and if it's not I'll eat my hat. - SirG3, on 10/11/2007, -2/+40If it's not SC2, can you post the video of you eating your hat on YouTube?
- LordVance, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4My favorite part about SC... all three races play very different form one another, yet they somehow managed to do a damn good job balancing the game. Too many strategy games say.
Okay, Team A has grenade throwing infantry. So... team two has explosive sphere throwing infantry! Yea... they will never notice its the exact same damn thing with a different model attached to it. ((I think Total Annihilation is a pretty underrated game though... I miss TA :-D)) - jggr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I will indeed.
/You can call me on this too.... I'll man up. - AKBryant54, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6you'd better, i'll remember this thread.
- texpundit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7"I will indeed.

Just make sure you make a hat out of a tortilla before the announcement. - madenosine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Time has made people remember the game being greater than it was?
I hope you realize thousands of people still play Starcraft
- jggr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Time has nothing to do with it. SC was the first (and possibly only) RTS I've played that has it all... Story, balance, and re-playability.
- CrunchinJelly, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20So this is going to be announced on the 19th May, right?
- muffins, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Yes
- Jeifurie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27My birthday! (I have no friends so this will be the best gift ever)

- rfdeshon, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I wish it was a release date for Ghost but I long ago figured out that I will never see SC Ghost. :(
- uceboyx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Better be Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2 :D
I think World of Warcraft already gave them enough headaches!- LordVance, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Yea, I think the best argument in favor of it NOT being another MMORPG is simply how many people they have working on World of Warcraft. They still control the MMORPG market, and their WoW team is smaller than it should be. Their WoW/MMO developers all have their hands working on new content for patches/the next expansion. They have said back around the time that the first expansion was announced that they DO plan an overhaul of the graphics for World of Warcraft in the future, but that it would not take place in the first expansion. I'd say its safe to assume that the few (very few) "next-gen MMO" jobs they have listed are simply for a WoW expansion/overhaul and not for an entirely new game.
My votes on SC2, but Diablo III would not surprise me one bit (Hellgate will be out this year, whatever they announce on the 19th probably will not be out for 2-4 years). In fact, I would love a new Diablo game :-D - Stiverton, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2and by headaches you mean money right?
- LordVance, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Yea, I think the best argument in favor of it NOT being another MMORPG is simply how many people they have working on World of Warcraft. - topbob, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9SC2 or D3 or else I pwn some noobs over at Blizz.
- emilbp, on 10/11/2007, -4/+0I really hope that the ? indicates Diablo III. Diablo 2 with expansion might just be the game I've spend most time playing, so I would find it just GREAT if we see another game in the series.
- ehurstmvp, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0For some reason i tired to look at the timeline sort of like a pattern, like maybe they were hiding the answer in the timeline itself. if it follows a pattern my guess would go for diablo 3, but i think its high time for starcaraft 2. and by starcraft 2 i mean a genre bending mmorts
- Sentin, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3Why did they show 2 pictures of warcraft 1 and 2? Is it just because it was their first games or something?
- natmaster, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2My suspicion is that they are alluding to a continuation of the Starcraft series by representing how Warcraft was continued on. So maybe we'll get something similar to the storyline of Warcraft II in Starcraft II (of course, different universe).
- glibby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19I'd guess that because it's first on the timeline, and it's lit up, they're going to slowly step through all of their games on that timeline over the next week as a buildup to the '?'.
- desu43fnoc, on 10/11/2007, -6/+8I kinda want Diablo III to happen over SC2. Blizzard has made a lot of RTS games (with the exemption of WoW) recently. While WoW is a good MMORPG, I kinda want an online RPG in a darker, medieval kind of setting without billions of players and whining kids in one world. I kinda liked the 8-player game session styles of D2, which allowed you to know the other players better. If they could up the player-cap to something like 32-64 players, it would make for some awesome PVP (like guild battles).
I also really liked the 2D engine Blizzard used in D2, which made it look very artistic.
Just my two cents.- OldPink, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0@desu43fnoc
Go play RuneScape X-D.
Just kidding, but you sorta just described RuneScape, especially the part about whining kids.
- OldPink, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0@desu43fnoc
- CrunchinJelly, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Whatever it is, it better be almost ready. You can't tell me the whole of Blizzard have been working on WoW since it came out.
- nVoy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Saw this on Kotaku. I'm already suspecting a new Diablo game but I'll have to wait and see.
- mononexo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Was looking at the awkwardly constructed source of the page and saw that every day we can expect /images/splash/day1.jpg to change :)
- Shmeevan, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1I was playin DIablo II just a second ago..

http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=war3-general&t=1621758&p=1post1621758- Beatmiser, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1No not really a 'new' title, just one they've been promising for, for ever. If it's available for preorder, that pretty much seals it.
- jggr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17I thought that game was canceled years ago?
And seriously, if that's it... I swear to all I hold holy, I will never buy a Blizzard product again.
But it's not... It's SC2.... Trust me... I know what I'm talking about.. I know a guy who roommates with a guy who's second cousin is friends with a Blizzard employee's massage therapist. That's like almost written in stone. - gungaroo22, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Ghost was canceled, buddy
- mdaize, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0diggggggg
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Starcraft_Ghost_not_really_cancelled
i think we should call blizzard sales and ask them for the esrb rating haha - mdaize, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2oops, double posted
- lnappropriate, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0I don't get this community, I'm being dugg down yet I've gotten no negative comments. I'm guessing it's either because of my name or because I didn't link directly.
- dyzlexiK, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I cant see the link so ill guess what it says. Anyone who knows VALVe knows that TF2 was set to be released back around 2000. The game was up for preorder since then, and was still for preorder before VALVe announced that they are actually releasing the game.
Companys guess when release dates are and put games up for preorder to grab your cash, its nothing new and not reliable.
- GoingPostal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12I can't believe it has been 11 years since the original Diablo came out.
- Hawking, on 10/11/2007, -2/+40DiabloCraft 2.5
- Gzero, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Looking at the timeline, it makes more sense for something from the Starcraft universe to be released, but somehow I don't think that's going to happen.
- dalamarazn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Ah I remember the good ole' days of Warcraft I
- Velguard, on 10/11/2007, -0/+50It's going to be a 3 way crossover. Jim Raynor becomes a paladin, and flies a half robot dragon into outer space where Diablo and the Lost Vikings have merged into a super being.
- jggr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8ROFL. I'd play that.
- Orlex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I'll play it if there is rock and roll involved
- sonasi, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2The page looks very warcraft-centric to me - but still hoping for Diablo III. The timing is perfect seeing that I have just recovered from carpal tunnel syndrome after playing Diablo II - 1.11 patch/expansion !!! CLICK-CLICK-CLICK.........

GOTCHA BITCH! - ke4mtg, on 10/11/2007, -6/+0Judging by all the database and "next-gen MMO" jobs that just opened up in the last 2 weeks (check their jobs page), it might be another MMO, maybe SC2 thats an MMO? I don't know, i sure hope not.
WHAT IF THEY START A NEW LINE? CALL IT......DIGGCRAFT...chew on that for a while. - Sentin, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2What about blizzard's foreign sites?
- zide, on 10/11/2007, -12/+3http://polyphobia.de/nonpublic/muddles/blizz/

- Protoss, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Isn't that from the SC mod for WC3?
- HollisJamison, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1@Protoss
The SC Mod looked nowhere near this good. This looks legit to me. - dyzlexiK, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I saw that awhile back. A fan made that saying thats what he believes SC2 should look like.
- TheWise, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Nice observation, as for what kind of game the new StarCraft will be, if their will be one, I'd say MMO only because of WoW's success. However, I'd prefer an RTS! I miss those good ole days.

Especially since according to above poster it was registered in 1999. Well, most of the evidence still points to SC2 so I guess I'm hoping for it as well, having never really played the original (yes, I know, blasphemy).
- nonsequitor, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1If it were merely to prevent squatting, why have the same time line as the blizzard.com on it?
- snaacks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4because it just redirects to blizzard.com....
- samolition, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8notice the lack of:

http://www.diablo3.com/
but http://www.starcraft2.com/ takes you to blizzard.
that kind of spells it out. - givemereplay, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2This is the only one that works.
Warcraft 4 is a no go
Diablo3/diabloIII = no go
world of starcraft = nothing
It has to be starcraft 2. - mashlin, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0yeah that doesn't mean much, i remember when that website was just a countdown clock and when it finnaly hit 00:00 they announced Starcraft Ghost
- glasderg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+25http://www.whois.net/whois_new.cgi?d=starcraft2&tld=com
- Niobium, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I am going to say Starcraft 2. Although a lot of people who enjoyed Starcraft, also play(ed) warcraft 1,2, and 3 .. and even WoW not all of them like that universe. So there is a ton of people who loved starcraft, and would love to give Blizzard money, but don't because they already own starcraft.
Although the diablo universe is different from WoW, it attracts a similar audience. So those people are getting their sword swining, fireball tossing fix, and are happy to pay every month for it. The starcraft lovers are still enjoying a free ride(sorta, they did pay for it, like a million years ago) with battle.net, but they want new stories, new maps, better graphics, and so on.
The nail in the coffin, announced in south korea? It's the Starcraft capital of the world! - Darmog, on 10/11/2007, -14/+1Ya know, if ya go by the pattern....
They did, in order:
New game, (warcraft)
sequel to it
New game, (Diablo)
New game (Starcraft)
Sequel (to diablo)
Sequel (to Warcraft)
New game (World of Warcraft)
Going by pattern (1 new, 1 sequel, 2 new, 2 sequel) you could argue that we're due for a completely new, unrelated game.
Or, the same pattern also shows that Starcraft is overdue for a sequel, and that it's about time for a Diablo 3...
I'd give it odds of:
Completely new game: 50%
Sequel to Starcraft: 35%
Sequel to Warcraft: 15%
Whee for speculation!
- bs0l, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4That was pretty funny.

No world of anything - Blizzard already explicitly said the announcement will NOT be another MMO.
this is actually true, i read this as well.
its also true how they were hiring the guy who did the diablo music.... which...
can... only lead to ONE conclusion!!!!!
DIABLOCRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(lol) - Piknik, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Just adds to my excitement. I can not wait for either game. Bring on the next generation Blizzard, you never fail us, RTS, MMO, I don't care, you always come on top with either in the end.
