- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -9/+48Even as a fanboy, this speculation is starting to get ***** annoying. I come to Digg Gaming for news, not submission after submission of magazine, blog, or gaming website speculation. I'm not saying its not going to cost this much, I'm just saying that you guys are turning Digg into a house of Wii speculation, instead of having just the really interesting and sourced information that used to pop up on here. Just wait a few more days/weeks when Nintendo is ready to tell us all about it.
- shrewduser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28i'm betting it will be $199 but with a nice set of extra's
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23Don't you guys realize that bloggers, magazines, and websites further their speculation because it brings attention to them? They're not doing it because they want you to know some secret, they're doing it because of websites like digg that cause mass amounts of people to focus in on what normally would be a useless article. Stop reading this crap and wait for an official announcement, its a lot more suspenseful and more satisfying when you hear all the big news.
(sorry for the doublepost) - eladriano, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Nintendo said that it would be cheaper than $250. Not at least $250......
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Yeah, because Vibe is a reliable source.
Seriously, Vibe is like MTV in a magazine. Does anyone think they are credible when it comes to talking about the pricepoint of the Nintendo Wii? - AdamFitz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Hmmm, a better use of the "Click" remote would be to rewind time and stop yourself from watching that movie in the first place. Give me my 2 hours of life back.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Vibe, Ass.
I see what you did there. - DannyPage, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10*pats you on the head*
Here's a waffle.

Feel better? Be the better man and be quiet about it. - LordSkywalker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8My bet goes to $199.99. This will include 2 controllers with nunchakus and a copy of Wii Sports. And it will sell like crazy.
- theMurdocVolta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Nobody Dugg my story, Wahhhh!
Shut up. - HPSauce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+62 DAYS children. Calm down, keep yourself entertained with whatever console you happen to own, and tune in for the real news then. Jeez, it's 2 days. You lot can give it a rest 'til then, right?
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6what are you guys talking about? i get all of my hardcore gaming information from vibe.
- liquilife, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've thought about this as well. But once you see the rest of the world doing it I'm sure you'll have no problems joining the craziness.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4When are the real announcements going to be again? The 14th?
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8HEY, hey hey! - Calm down all you naysayers...
Vibe has been right before...
O.J. was innocent! - lordkosc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://digg.com/gaming_news/September_14_15_Worldwide_Wii_Day
- lordkosc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7*hug* I gave u a digg... I wasn't online yesterday....
- LunarOcean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I foresee you being wrong. I'm fairly certain that Nintendo has made it clear that they won't be doing a multiple-version-launch for the Wii. I want to say they've officially said something along those lines before - however, I don't have sources with me at the moment.
It'd be bad for their relations to suddenly unveil a multiple-version scheme when the universal small price (relative to other consoles) is one of their selling points for the system. - ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Let's face it: it will be at least $300+ in Australia.
btw, whenever I hear about the "worldwide release date", it only ever mentions Europe, USA, and Asia, Will that include Australia? I'll be real frustrated if the rest of the world is enjoying the Wii while Oz has to wait a further 6 months (wouldn't be the first time). - Darkholme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've been saying it for a year or so now. $150 and a release of, oh, say, the end of September would really put a hurting on Sony.
- unloud, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I'm a poor ass college student, but I would buy this for $150 or even $199. Although I never bought a 360, I think that I will definatly be buying a Wii.
The games look amazing; the console is innovative; the price is low. . . .Wii is going to be huge. - skywake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3there are 20mill of us "fael"
i do expect the Wii to be about $300AU.... pretty good seeing the PS3 will be around $1000AU and you can pick up a GC for $99AU... - ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2*note to self - if you see any submissions by Hyprtime, search for other stories on the same topic while not digging Hyprtime's.
- mrgreen4242, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While I don't think Vibe is the best source for news, MTV is fairly credible as far as video game news... I mean, don't they host several video game based events a year? They are a media outlet whos demographic overlaps a lot of target gamers, so it would make sense that game companies diseminate info through them... again, Vibe, not so much...
- DrStankus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6The best use would be to use that remote in such a way that you can touch Kate Beckinsale's thingies.
- ssvalenteno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No no no Shigeru Miyamoto said no combo packs you will be able to buy the system "Just the system" from day one!!
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Let's learn how to write using propper grammar before posting comments on the internet and sounding like a 12 year old.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2pretty amazing if it were true; i still expect $199 before pack-in. which is still a bargain.
- Qoogirl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ milomilomilo:
C'mon, who is watching you in the privacy of your own home? Unless you're the type with 20 ft windows with no curtains and a yard with no trees. Besides, all your friends will be doing it. There's the perfect reason to do anything. Hahaha - martin993, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd forgotten that the GC was only £130. That gives me some hope. But £80 odd is far too good to be true.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Calm down, keep yourself entertained with whatever console you happen to own"
OK, I'll keep playing my NES until Thursday. - ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Think of it kind of like playing Dance Dance Revolution.
At first, most people just watch and laugh at people doing it because they don't want to look like idiots. Then after a while, a lot of people will actually try it and see how fun it is. Once you realize how fun it is, you won't care how stupid it looks. - dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm placing a bet for $199 that the Wii will cost $199 (yep, make my Wii free for me please!) That'll give me more cash for games!
- volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nintendo knows that Microsoft and Sony have abondoned the golden rule of making the system affordable and make your money back through the games. The lower the price, the more systems they are gonna ship. If they price the system so low that you've got to be stupid not to buy one, then they are going to have a huge market share from the get go, which means many more game sales, more 3rd party support which will bring better and more games which equates to even more system sales. They won't have to worry about price cuts or competition. Just as Apple uses the itunes music store to promote ipod sales, Nintendo will draw in crowds with an ultra affordable, bad ass system. I own a DS lite and a hand full of games which I've purchased new and some used. Before my DS lite I didn't own a DS, nor did I own a gamecube. I bought and modded (and broke several months later) an Xbox but never purchased a single game. The last time I bought a game was back in my N64 days. It's not that I'm cheap, I just won't pay $50-$60 for video games which most of the games aren't worth half the cost after paying several hundred dollars on the system. Video games are geared towards children, teens and young adults and the prices don't reflect what the demographic in general should be asked to bare.
- ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0200 euro will be OK
- LunarOcean, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3"The funniest part is, you'll be crying bloody murder (far more rudely than I did) when it happens to you"
Right, because you're so much better than the rest of us. No one cares. Even if I submitted a story that got duped, I'd have to be stupid to expect most other users to care.
It's not even that you called someone out on a dupe. You had to specifically state that *you* submitted the other story. Hmm, now what kind of impression does that give people? It's not hard to figure out. - championchap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1£75?!?!
hahaha, no chance.. the gameCube was £130 and i expect the same of the Wii - chembro84, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I have a feeling Vibe pulled this price out of their ass, but who knows maybe Nintendo did tell them something thinking that it wouldn't be on shelves till after Nintendo announced the price.
- IcerC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1they could have said
~150
..but this is misleading, them bastards better be right or I am canceling my subscription! - Husky217, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Why on Earth do 150 people care what Vibe magazine thinks about the price of the Wii? I'm a total Wii fan, I'll be buying it the first day it comes out, but this is just lame speculation. I've noticed this happening a lot lately, and it makes me not want to come to Digg. *Buries and encourages you to do the same to keep Digg clean*
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Why would Nintendo do that? $200 is plenty low enough for pretty much everyone that is planning on getting it to buy it. $150 wouldn't change much and they'd lose $50 of profit on each system.
- hairyjewels, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Considering that the GameCube was geared more towards children with their gameplay, the easy but very colourful, fun, compact games, and the easy to carry GameCube, is the main reason why I think the GameCube was so affordable compared to the rest. At one point I think it even dropped to $139.99 CDN which at the time was the same price as the GameBoy Advance. I speculate the Wii to come in at $199.99 CDN but if not and it does come in at $149.99 lets just say we should expect to pay dish out more for accessories, such as controllers, memory cards, etc. This is a great way for companies to make extra coin, provide awesome systems but to operate that system you still gotta buy this and this and this and this and finally gameplay is complete and that's why it might be so cheap!
- unfuccwittable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0what the ***** does vibe no? they arent even good at reporting about hip hop, which is what the magazine is all about. lets wait for nintendo to tell us something before we start digging what everyone hears from a friend who knows a guy's next door neighbor that works for nintendo.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Unfortunately its true. Even as a Wii fanboy I know youll get what you pay for.
- crlake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Nintendo was probably waiting for Sony to play their hand. I'm sure the other 2 never DREAM Sony would discard 4, pick-up 4, then drop garbage on the table, after bluffing so well. If the Nintendo Wii is priced at $150 -- they will OWN Christmas of 2006. Period.
- priceless721, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2well maybe your headline wasn't as cool as this one hahaha
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0"I'm a total Wii fan, I'll be buying it the first day it comes out"
Why not wait until you can try it at the kiosks first? Don't make up your mind too hastily. Besides, if they're supposed to have that many units on hand, you should be able to take your time after launch to buy... - MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6Title should, of course, read
'Will Wii *be* $150?!!! Vibe Magazine thinks so.'
Damn these fast fingers. - AssultMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Bet your ass it won't be less than $199.
Nintendo makes money on their hardware, and they won't need to dump prices.
I'm going to bet $199 for the bare bones unit, and $249/$299 for kits with bundles, "premium" packages or more online content etc. - jizzatch, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5Editors are pretty lazy these days. I'm guessing the author of the story found the first price he/she could and then used that. Very interesting if true, but I bet it was an ill informed guestimate.
Screw the wiimote. I want the remote in that "Click" movie, so I can fast forward to the Wii release date and all of these rumors are put to rest. -

What is Digg?
