- latova, on 10/12/2007, -0/+67Having a preference in one console? Thats fine.
Debating with people why you like your console? I can deal with that.
Vandalizing a free encyclopedia with immature insults? Grow up. - MidnightMartin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27'Effing vandals! *Shake Fist*
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25You're on digg, what do you expect from the people here? :P
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Nerds and their consoles.. (sigh).
This is like gangs and grafitti, but 100 times more pathetic and funny. - Ystig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15They're not locked. They're just protected from anonymous edits or edits by newly registered accounts. Just like several hundred other articles (at the least) all over the system. This is done all the time, to a vast selection of vandalised articles, any time it's necessary. Some news story this is.
- jacobmp92, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Haven't the pages been locked down for a while now?
- A1kmm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10If you think this is exciting news, wait until you see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=protect&user=&page=&limit=500&offset=0
Breaking news: Someone has just edited the Wikipedia page David Hasselhoff to revert vandalism!
Sorry for the sarcastic tone, but this story is kind of lame. - chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9say no to spam: add him to your blocked list.
if enough people block him, he will get banned.. - dyvbond, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Hey you kids! Get off my internets!
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Each system has it's fanboys, but Sony's are by far the loudest and most annoying."
Looking at digg would make you wonder about that. The sheer amount of stories submiited an anti sony comments are astounding. The only thing that annoys people like you are other POV's - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9"Each system has it's fanboys, but Sony's are by far the loudest and most annoying."
You just disproved your own statetement. What gives you the moral high-ground moron. People like you are the problem. - dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@TOTALineptitude:
In the blue bar it has:
[usericon] by [username] x minutes/hours/days ago [BLOCK BUTTON] then a big gap to the digg count.
The block button looks like the "No Smoking" symbol, only with a more subtle colour scheme, and no cigarette. Hitting this button means that any post (or thread) by this user will not show up at all.
edit: billymachine beat me by 5 minutes... - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7All I wrote was that the Wii runs on the blood of puppies and stores its memories on the crystallized souls of sacrificed virgins.
- bagboyrebel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Some people are too proud. I have Friends that wouldn't touch the Gamecube or Xbox. I personally did end up with all three consoles from last gen(well, the X-box was my brothers) And I was happy with them for the most part.
- deannnnnn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is to be expected. Fanboys are fairly immature.
But something less expected:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Great_Expectations&diff=84574130&oldid=84497148
Great Expectations is such a strange target for vandalism. Somehow I don't think the book included butt sex, dildos, or STDs even though I haven't read the book. - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Oh, brother"
- billymachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Click the "NO" sign next to his name, and say goodbye to his posts and threads!
- Ystig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Honestly, I wish they'd just do away with anonymous edits, period. On the higher traffic articles I edit, somewhere in the area of 90% of all anonymous edits are vandalism. Of the 10% or so which aren't vandalism, the large majority are wrong, poorly written or otherwise undesirable and need to be reverted or re-edited anyway. In what other context, anywhere, is a 95% failure rate in the work output of a given group of personnel an acceptable statistic? In what other context is "well, 19 out of 20 things they do are crap, and other people have to come in and clean it up every time, but we keep them around" a sensible take from a human resources standpoint?
- aiken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just hope someone saves the contact info for the vandals and tracks them down in, say, 30 years (when they're in their early 40's) and show's 'em what idiots they were. Getting emotionally involved in console choice is stupid enough, but this is really a new indication that the internet is way, way too easy for pre-teens to use.
- NTolerance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I liked this part:
"Interestingly, the Wii seems to attract more conflicts of opinion on the site than the subjects of Scientology (8,475 revisions), God (7,537 revisions), and even Britney Spears (9,886 revisions.)" - GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"This is like gangs and grafitti, but 100 times more pathetic and funny."
Are you talking ***** bitch? Go on, pick up your controller and let's see who the bigger man is!
Don't make me circle square triangle triangle a cap in yo ass - ravedave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its just as easy to vandalize with an account. Also I have seen many many excellent edits from ips.
- teknopagan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In that case, right on! I'll finally have a good use for all this extra puppy blood laying around the house.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Noob question..
Sorry for asking, but, how do I block someone? - dokbeast7, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Same with anti-Nintendo fanboys. The only anti fanboys who didn't have much of a chance to bash before bashed console was released were anti-Microsoft fanboys, because it was released long ago.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks guys.. Good lookin' out.
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The simple answer is that vandalism isn't really a failure. Vandalism is simply not damaging. It's easily identified, and easily fixed (it doesn't matter how weird or extensive their changes are, a revert is simple and effective). The failures are when someone either adds very POV changes, or adds pretty sneaky vandalism (but even then, if people would diff further back in history than the latest handful of edits, sneaky vandalism wouldn't stick around as long).
Maybe turning off anonymous editing would decrease POV-pushing and sneaky vandalism, but not all that much. And anonymous users DO contribute... not nearly as much, but they do. - michaelbeckham, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"editing of this article by unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled." is used on many, many pages. There is one which completely locks them from all but Sysops IIRC. That would be a bigger deal than this. No digg.
- termy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Unfortunately a ton of pages on Wikipedia have been vandalized a lot lately. It's a shame to because the site used to be such an awesome source for information. I can't remember seeing so many vandalizing tags on so many pages. So it's not only the console wars the vandals are getting into but it's other stuff too.
- Dustyb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Apparently everyone is taking these "console wars" a little to literally.
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And a high def version is coming out next year for everyone to buy again but this time runs on the blood of cats.
- ewy99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Commodore 64 or Sinclair Spectrum? Which one is better!?
(j/k).
/me heads off to Wikipedia for some "discussion!!" - shanesan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You can thank me for continuously pushing the vandal tag request on Wii. It was getting ridiculous.
For further comment: Old news. It's been like this since August. Vandal tag has been taken down a multitude of times, but usually comes back up within 5 hours. - Absolute0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think it has to do with Pip being a character in South Park...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0all phags to me!
- thund3rstruck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Some of us old-time gamers developed allegiances with manufacturers due to how many times we got screwed buying consoles. Personally I missed out on most of the SNES generation because I was a SEGA owner (genesis, SegaCD, 32x, and Saturn). After being screwed by SEGA over and over again, the next generation I bought the PSX and N64. The N64 games were ridiculously expensive and the library was ***** compared to PSX. The next cycle I was a PS2 owner and loved it (until a modded XBOX opened my eyes up to what a console could be). I dismissed the gamecube all together because of the N64 and the games I saw on it looked like they were created for children.
Now its time for you younger gamers to get screwed by the console manufacturers so that in the next generation you can make well rounded decisions regarding your gaming allegiances. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Anti-fanboy's are the worst. They think their so non-conformist because they don't give up their allegiance to once system. They don't let companies dictate their tastes, they think they are masters of their domains. Because being a fanboy is the devils tool!
- oblemboy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Unoriginal, I know...
Hey you kids, get outta my tubes! - tschembalo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1lol
- Heishiro, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1You just know all of the "Fanboys" will eventually own all three systems...
Its all about the games.... - MeatBiProduct, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1DOOD IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE PS3 THEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT DA CELL PROCESSAH IS. I HEARD THAT ITS SO POWERFUL THE HUBBLE TELESCOPE HAS 2 OF EM ON THERE CAUSE THEY DO 12 GIG A SEC OF HDTV BLUERAY BLAST PROCESSING. ITS AWESOME AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SELL ONE ON EBAY FOR A MILLION YEN, SO BETTER THAN NINTEENDO OR MICRO$OFT!!
./sarcasm &
lets face it the ps3 is getting vandalized cause its failure in the media, the Wii is getting vandalized because of its hype and meanwhile the rest of us with XBox 360's are laughing to the bank. All the systems are great - its the people who play them that suck. - Kev585, on 10/12/2007, -19/+7Anti-Sony fanboys are the worst. An anti-sony fanboy won't even wait for the system to be release and play it before bashing it.
