- sam10685, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24i hope they put blood in it... although, u don't call a game REDsteel unless there's blood. but still... the demo at E3 worried me.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14i don't know if i can wait long enough to get my hands on the controller... and use it as a sword
heeeeeeeeee-AAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!! - JOJOFACE, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Amazing... My respect for Ubisoft just went up a whole lot.
- Vyx36, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Can't help but love Nintendo—if nothing else, you must admit that they keep from getting a little too dull in the gaming market.
Looking forward to the console, controller, and game. Seems like it'll be quite an experience. - xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Good, and let there be blood :)
- randyest, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Really a non-story. Of course the early version at e3 isn't the final. The article is completely without content. Read it yourself if you must, but they just repeat the headline 3 or 4 times. Pretty sad, but at least they didn't span it across 7 ad-heavy pages.
- LabRat777, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This is why ubisoft makes great games, they listen. Yay redundancy.
- seanspace6, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5he's not leaving. it was a joke from his editors.
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very nice to see game makers actually listening to feedback. Several thumbs up.
- Dymphna, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Eh, it's an early game title. everyone does that with stuff shown at E3.
They just happened to announce they were doing it. Good PR for them though, not a bad call - nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Red Steel is the first game since GoldenEye 64 to truly get me excited about an FPS...
- kennyGS13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2even if the sword play sucks the shooting will still be awesome
- luke--, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hasn't anyone played Tsurugi - The Sword by Konami? It's an arcade game from 2001 with what is essentially like a corded wiimote/samurai sword handle. The game feels like it is mapping your movements 1-1 with the screen with only a 40-50ms delay! It is realistic, awesome, and a complete blast. I really hope red steel adopts that method because I've used it in this game and it works famously!
You can see a flyer for it at:
http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=flyer&id=2423&image=1
and try to find it at a local arcade, worth a try to taste what wii will hopefully offer. - DevilDriver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@luke
From the article:
"Ubisoft confirmed that it had previously tried simulating the sword in a one-to-one motion, so that all hand movements would translate directly and instantly into the game's combat, but that the gameplay was dismissed as too clunky and surprisingly unrealistic." - Keon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like how people's comments are getting -diggs because they want the game to have blood. Is that so wrong? I mean if you're enjoying playing a game where the focus of gameplay is on shooting people up and cutting them with your sword, you're already having fun through violence. The idea that a game that is violent in nature will somehow be too violent with the inclusion of blood is ridiculous. I think the inclusion of blood will make the gameplay somewhat more true to life, in turn making the gameplay experience more immersive. And I thought that was the whole point of the Wii and it's revolutionary gameplay.
- Durrok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ubisoft also listened to gamers about HOMM5. It had the starforce protection on it and the community was up in arms about it. I was either going to not buy it or pirate it w/o the starforce protection because there was no way that kind of crap install itself on my PC.
Well, they listened to us and pulled star force out from not only HOMM5 but also all their other upcoming PC games.
Go ubisoft! - BlackTye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm glad to hear this. I wasn't very impressed with the swordplay at the E3 version. But the gunfighting should be sweet. Either way, I'm definitely going to buy it.
- charmedguy18, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A lot*
Fixed :-D - totaljerkface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Even if red steel doesn't do it... someone's eventually going to make a super violent sword game full of beheading and severing. it's destined to happen.
- DiggCheeseFries, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5I think that it's great that gamers have a voice when a company has ears. Now if only government ran the same way...
- dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1why? im a wii fanboy, but have you watched any of the gameplay footage? this game is a mess, and ubisoft needs a miracle to fix it
- DjANTi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0THANK GOD!
That's all I can say after playing the demo at E3... I was really worried. The concept was great, but when you actually played it, you became seriously disappointed. Hopefully they're speeding up the sword fights and fixing the controller response. - Seidoger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ubisoft put in the recent years incredible ways for players to feedback on games in the dev stages.
I've been to multiple focus groups and playtests at Ubisoft and they do listen, and put our suggestions at work for sure. - morrislevy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Personally, I just wanna be 'able' to hold a katana to cut people in half. God I love the Japanese.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0red steel needs blood. first of all its gona be half the game and half the fun it could be with excessive violence and second its FALSE ADVERTISING. hello? *red* steel? wheres the red? LAME
on a side note: if they map the sword fighting 1-1 or have an option for it, and if it has online multiplayer with THAT feature... it could truly be one of the best games ever (if it has blood of course) - breego, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Should I be excited? I wasn't at E3 I don't know if the swordplay sucked. At least they are listening but the question burns What the F are they actually doing to the game?!?!
- DiMo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3everything besides the blood..... O_o
- likerelaxing, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0personally, i would like blue steel.
- Respiration, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1After the Matt leaving from Wii to PS3 or Xbox360 fiasco with Kotaku, what was left of my faith in the site has disappeared.
- nonokiaboy, on 10/12/2007, -19/+5Goldeneye was so awesome.
Awesome awesome awesome.
Both the Movie and the Game were awesome.
Man I love goldeneye.
I haven't played the HL2 Mod though..
Might have to buy HL2 to give it a spin.
