- trimmer52, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29I'm going to go with this being an early April Fools to be honest.
I'm all for Zelda moving on, and this could well be one of the best ideas for a Zelda game I've ever seen...I just don't see it happening. If it turns out to be true well then you can colour me surprised, but I'm struggling to believe it.
It does look very Square Enix, and it almost seems too convenient that they got some Square guys in to help. Great piece of fan work though - Azimuth1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I'm taking it with a barrel of salt.
- Marink, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13OMFG
If this is real, it is the biggest twist in the history of video gaming. I don't think that any of use could have foreseen this. But I think we should all take it with a pinch of salt. - zerokill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12dugg for the amazing images. Even if it is a april fool joke the art images are amazing and i want them :P
- MouseCircus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I know it's more than likely an elaborate April Fools' Day prank. Very elaborate.
Love the idea, but if it were true, I would hate that Nintendo is working with Square-Enix on the project. I'm afraid they'd make the game, specifically the characters, too....pretty, if you know what I mean.
Oh, what the hell. I'll digg it anyway. - Otnip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Dugg, but I agree, April Fools joke. A random website does not get new Zelda info and then decides to leak it so they can have their website shut down and possibly have legal action taken upon them.
But I definitely like the idea, and I'm interested to see what Nintendo is going to do to flip the series upside down like they said they would after Twilight Princess - AhrenBa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Um, I can almost guarantee this is all made up or is a joke. I don't think Zelda could EVER take this big of a twist.
- Diggtatorship, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'm taking this with a metric *****-ton of salt. (a.k.a. this is genuine *****)
- Skunkhair, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5you can also see a bilboard in one of the concept images for coca-cola. i seriously doubt zelda's gonna be sporting adverts in a game.
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well at this years GDC one of the head guy who is in charge of Zelda did say he wanted to do something completely different.
- Skunkhair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4have to agree with other comments here. I love the idea of transporting the "legend" into this futuristic/sci-fi setting, but I'm also agreeing that this is just an elaborate april fool's joke. release it today and by tomorrow it's got enough momentum going that people won't think it's an april fool's joke because it was released today.
- freetyme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It would be but why would Nintendo do this? Yes they said Twilight Princess would be the last of its kind but don't they have Metroid for the whole future thing? Another thing, replacing Epona with a Motorcycle called Epona? That just doesn't make since, why can't we have a futurehorse, that just looks mean and buff. As we all know everyone is ripped in the future.
- ElbridgeGerry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Ew, too Kingdom Hearts II final level-y for Zelda.
Also, did you see the Sphinx? This is obviously art from something else, set on Earth. - xerus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yay April fools... did they just take some art from conceptart.org and put it in a montage?
- RMDTech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You know I don't really care if it's an april fools joke or not It looks pretty sweet and it would be a great change for the Zelda series. Plus if they are working with Square-Enix with it then it will be one very beautiful game indeed.
- ericisshort, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3who says some "*****" drew them. Probably the "*****" in question just got them off of the internet and editted it together with a couple zelda images. I mean, I know that you are a hardcore zelda fan and all since you've been into it since 2000 (which is SUCH a long time), but come on man, would that be so hard to do?
- samadam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I second that!
- NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wish I could believe this, cause I'd love a futuristic Zelda game, they could do so much with that, if they did it write... Frankly I probably wouldn't like guys from Square working on it XD but meh...
But since we're only 1 day away from April Fools day... its just too hard to believe... if people still insist this is real a month after AFday, then ok...
I can only imagine how much BS is gonna be on Digg tomorrow... @_@ - fhornplayer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't mind Nintendo working with square enix on other things, though. The wii needs more rpg's. Imagine kingdom hearts 3 on the wii.
- Jemulov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2On the clip they said something along the lines of an artistic combination between FF7 and Zelda. I respect people who love the FF franchise, but my heart would break if I saw something like that come to fruition. Zelda has its own artistic style to it and I'll be damned if a Final Fantasy look and feel came to it. Zelda has a world that is awe-inspiring yet fathomable and familiar. To me the worlds of Final Fantasy just seemed exotic and very alien.
I would have to say though. This is one good April fools joke. - Daedalus81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yea im going w/ April Fools. Why would they have an "Egyptian temple" or the Sphinx in one of the concept drawings? Its not something they would put in the universe.
- naonao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This would be REALLY cool but I just don't see this so near to April Fool's. And the bike in the sketches is almost exactly the same as Kaneda's bike in Akira.
- Poland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If this isn't real then they should make it so.
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"I don't think Zelda could EVER take this big of a twist."
err, windwaker was a pretty big twist. I would love to see this come to fruition. the mixture of a totally different setting than past zelda series games mixed with the stuff they could make the tech theme would be a great choice in art direction that would allow them to write up whole new parts of the story no one's ever even thought of. Also it's set far enough away from the current games that the flood of windwaker could let them break what most fans would concider cannon without breaking the storyline. - Jennica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What the ***** - No Epona but a motorcycle that Link calls Epona?
That's hysterical. - victorguttmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder if you can feed it carrots.
- PureGamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1April fools, shenanigans, etc.
- mickhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a bigger joke than the ON.
- Dested, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks like someone forgot there was a 31st day in march and released this a day early.
- sipsyrup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1well they almost always have a sand/desert temple... why not put it in egypt? i guess it would be the modern equivalent..
- krawkula, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It is what you perceive it as. If there was much of a demand for this they would have to consider it correct? Well how would you find out if someone would like this? The trailer is a nice idea but a trailer is a look into already started work usually. Release it as an april fools joke youll get your demand response if its there but at the same if there isnt much demand, haha, it was a joke. It would be the perfect focus group.
What I think. HELL YEAH! If ya like it show your support and hope someone is watching. - digggggg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Of course it's an april fool's prank, but man - a Zelda in the future? This would absolutely r-o-c-k! :-) I'll say "bring it on, Ninty!" :-)
- Skunkhair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ooh, never thought about that. partnering with square/enix on a zelda game? that'd be interesting... a zelda game about love.
- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1happy april fools.
marked as inaccurate. although i will give them SOME credit because it is a somewhat cool idea. - dgblackout, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the best thing to happen to zelda since the ocarina
- xerus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Just browse conceptart.org then.
- selfdisplaced, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0april fools joke certainly...
but now I must say this would be pretty awesome. they only need to take the guns out and it would be a great game. even Zelda set in a futuristic world like this would still use swords, bombs and arrows. If they were to do this...I don't know what to say other than I'm on board.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Future - victorguttmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Despite this being fake for April Fool's... I'd play it.
- chrisphil1724, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All I have to say is, that's a really cool April Fool’s joke. It's something that, if done right, would be fun to see out of Zelda.
- backjauer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0APRIL FOOLS!!!!!
- CompIsMyRx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I for one am willing to think that this is real. Those animations and CGI parts looked a little too professional to be put on just for a big fake. Also, I WANT THIS VERY BADLY. That being said, a grain of salt is necessary.
- smokespliffz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Don't forget the battle system .....
- EspriteX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yeah this has to be an april fools joke, seen some of this artwork on the net before even...
- Tronik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This fake as reported by www.destructoid.com, notice the Jedi and the Cyclone riders from Robotect: Invid Invasion / Mospeda? Although I think it would be cool to see a steampunk Zelda this isn't it.
- smokespliffz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Theres no way any ***** could have actually sit there, draw all those pics all for the sake of April Fools, maybe Nintendo have realised it's time to evolve the Zelda franchise, it looks ***** hot and a massive twist it is. I really hope Nintendo turn around and make an official statement, I've been a Zelda fan since 2000
