- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24It's not really a big secret.
But it's far from stupid. If we're going to resort to calling things stupid, then your a doo-doo head. :( :( :(
But seriously, SD card support is a nice feature. At least it's supported and inexpensive, it could add a lot to the Wii as a source of entertainment. Now, if we REALLY want to call something stupid, could we slap the adjective on Bluray? - Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11They didn't want to show off, but it's a Flux Capacitor.
Hasn't this story been frontpaged before?.... - NewsBandit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5He mentions another medium for storage--how about Nintendo providing a way to save game data to a personal profile on the web so that you could access your saved games from anyone else's system anywhere?
- SkeletaLlama, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7This has been known for a while. I doubt they're keeping a tight lid on a storage medium they've already announced. I'm hoping its a slot for putting in original NES, SNES and N64 cartridges. That would be awesome.
- MerlynXLII, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It has. No option to "Old News" it though, that was removed from the report feature.
- MerlynXLII, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That might be the attachment part of the virtual console controller, daisy chain it into your older controllers... But, the statements are hardly complete. Just because it has an sd slot, doesn't mean it's the only thing behind the flaps.
This is old news however, at least over a week. I would have reported it as old news.... But "Old News" was removed from the options to bury a story!!! - MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They mentioned that you could plug a USB HD into the system...
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Heh, at least for intact men, what's under the flap of the wii is the glans.
- joelmole, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dude, you're on crack. Hope you're just joking about the cartridge slots. How do you imagine they'll squeeze that feature into a case that is already astonishingly small as it is? They've already mentioned classic games will be available for download.
- tomskag, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3they talked about this along time ago.
and i think digg had an article about wii and sd cards. so this isnt really even news - dunstdunst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://wii-wii.us
- jizzimmy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Too bad it's not a camera... eh eh.
- elShaggy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Thats doable with the 360, the worst part of that is, you can unlock achievements by going about a similar method.
- CosmosGoddess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You should look at the July 06 issue of Nintendo Power, it had a very nice interview with Reggie.
- zumpiez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This wasn't a secret. There have been shots of the side-flap open since they first showed the form factor :(
- drygnfyre, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Good idea. Do you think the GCN Memory Card will also be a supported format for saving Wii data?
- skilletsavior35, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1so their isnt a HD just a SD would that be limited space...am i reading this right
- darkmule, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think its pretty weak to state that this is the Wii's Final Secret. As its a well known fact, to anyone who has press.nintendo.com access (Which last i checked was everyone until sometime in July.).
The Wii, will use SD cards, and i think it could open a lot of positive and negitive possibilities into Wii's ability to play games. With the amount of storage flash cards, and USB cards can hold these days, there really is no need for a huge hard drive, like the other systems have.
I think the Wii has a lot more coming, and I think this is 'far' from the final secret. - elShaggy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yea, its a stupid feature. It sure isnt an Intelligent one. Every tom, dick, and jane electronic device has something like this. i mean get a card reader and you have SD ON AN XBOX360. I am just saying this can't be thier final "secret"
- timpo89, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0If nintendo sold a console that had the motion sensing capabilities as well as a holographic projector they would lost a lot of money. The thought of the Wii having such things is stupid, but the SD card slot will be a very nifty feature.
- Talez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0It's the Dreamcast all over again! Huge databases of saves that already have everything unlocked for you. At least this time we'll be able to write the saves to an SD card instead of having to download them through the console's browser.
- Overlord, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Exactly, I find it sad that people thought it was a secret. I saw what it was from the very beginning. The only recently announced thing is that the use SD is definite. I think they were questioning what format they were going to use, but it's solid now.
- insanitarium, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I predict the final secret of the Wii is either
A. A way to play DS games with the Wii. The attachment part of the controller will be a way to attach a touchpad.
B. An addon where you can plug in your original cartridges. - halfway, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1The story seems interesting enough. THe possibilites it would open would be pretty large if people could move files from the Wii to the sd card. Like the article said... save games. But it could also bring potential for online and offline hacks. Which wouldn't be a good thing. Overall good idea though.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3NINTENDO FTW!
- jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3perhaps it was a secret a few months ago, but it hasn't been a secret since then.
- diggNewton, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Any chance of porting DS games through this memory slot bay?
- telapan, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Sony had it first, Nintendo copied them.
- bbardlbradd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Um, Where the Hell is Mortal Kombat? What lady could handle being told "YOU SUCK" after trying to pulverize like, 70 stone slabs and failing? I had it when I was like 8 or 9.... I had beaten contra at that age, but I could barely deal with a computer telling me that I suck.... that's pretty damn harsh. That game would pwn you on the spot.
- elShaggy, on 10/12/2007, -19/+4SD card support is hardly a secret. If that's what Nintendo is saving. its probably the stupidest feature of the Wii.
