- Calypsoaf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25This seriously isn't on the front page is it?
I guess that means Jessica Alba Nude is 15 times more popular than the Wii... - estvir, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Please, stop posting these stupid stories about how many 'searches' there are done for certain things.
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19APPLE WILL NEVER BE MORE POPULAR THAN THOMAS EDISON!
I mean that guy knows how to party! Plus he basically gave us electricity and nice things to use with it like light bulbs. - 1upgamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I mean, I love nintendo. But all these topics are seriously getting annoying.
- toshipaine, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14My comment was supposed to be for this thread

Not sure how it ended up here o_o - jromz03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9If you haven't noticed it already, article dupes are a regular here.
- Shirk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9This is only the fourth or fifth time this has been posted in the past 2 days, buried.
- angrynori, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Buried.
How many times do we have to read the same story over and over again? - asdfrewq, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Well lets just say, if I personally HAD to choose.... then yes.
- Dhalsim007, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Ummm, don't you mean the Wii was three times more AVAILABLE than the PS3? I don't see any PS3 systems lying around on shelves, waiting for customers to buy them. So maybe they're both EQUALLY popular, since they've both sold out.
Anyway, Nintendo has to sell 2+ Wiis for each PS3 sold to match the total sales dollars. Harumph! - DangerMouse9, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9@TheDiggPig:
Yes, because we all know that the next 5-7 years are ***** determined within the first 27 days of a system's life.
1. No one can afford one, but somehow people can afford the extra 400-800$ they are going for on ebay.
2. The first gen XBox360 games looked like Xbox games.
3. It really hurts sales when something is not even on the market yet, yep that sure hurts.
4. Yes, you speak for all 400,000 people that purchased the system that not a single one bought it for the blu-ray, they'd rather shell out 1,000$ for a stand alone player.
5. Yep, a company's separate business entities have royally screwed Sony over. They added DRM to their music so ***** their electronic goods.
You're talking *****, and frankly I'm really ***** sick of every ***** coming on here saying "$$$$$$$$$$$$$$fony is *****, tH48h24 w7-u blah blah blah look how ***** cool I am for ripping on sony, it's the in thing to do, I hope that girl in 3rd period History will touch my weiner now"
Seriously, there's knocking a system in jest, and then there's ***** like you that spew ***** they've pulled from their ass as fact.
Want to know why you are so ***** wrong.
If the PS3 was as bad as you say it is, you would have zero problem finding one on the shelves at any retailer, they'd still be there from launch. Don't give me the "they're just selling them on ebay, no one wants one" *****, because who is buying them off ebay? Is the same system going to be sold 18 times on ebay?
***** moron. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You forgot one.
6. Nobody cares who wins or loses. As gamers, with this much choice, we all win. - darthmdh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Wow, the Wii is 3 times more "popular" than some non-existent console.
Mathematics also says its infinitely more popular than the PS4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 combined.
Lame story buried. - Siraris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Seriously, Digg needs to ban Nintendo and Wii and DS from the front page. It's getting really old.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6@shaggy: You won't find it here. Digg is the realm of the AppleWii60 fanboy.
- ulyssesyt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6oh my god! >3 times greater! not twice as great, but THREE times as great! not quite FOUR times as great, but at least THREE times and maybe a little more! soon to be FIVE times as great perhaps?
oh, shut the ***** up. please. - pidge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This is stupid. Just because there are more searches, it doesn't necessarily mean it is positive. Does more searches make it popular or notorious? Both systems are selling out as soon as they arrive. Stop making stupid judgements until both systems have been out for a while.
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thats very true...people search for Wii, cause unlike PS3, you actually have a snowball's chance in hell of getting one.
That and cause they're all still possessed with trying to get to google through the shop...its almost like they didn't have the computer they're searching on...
Love my Wii though, just the same. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@izzy:
Sony was prepared to lose money on each unit, just like they did with the PS1, the PS2 and so forth. Microsoft did the same thing with the initial batch of 360s and probably the Xbox as well. It's how business works when you're delivering something new with bleeding-edge technology. Anyone can release the Atari 2600 these days and turn a profit on each unit sold at launch. - shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Everyone I know with a PS3 is upset. Everyone I know with a Wii is having a blast. In the end, things really won't shape up for the next few years. Speculation is annoying.
- dzmetcalf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3wow SURPRISE ***** a pro wii/anti PS3 Story, ***** DIGG it's turned to ***** *****, you all know it's true so feel free to digg me down since you all will.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i blocked that troll. no need to waste with that *****...
- daeyeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2even though it's just launch numbers, it's gonna take a lot for PS3 to catch up already (even X360 needs to catch up to Wii in Japan, they're losing to PS3 there)
- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://top-searches.klikhir.com/?gclid=CJfE9ounlYkCFQRDYwodaU80AQ
Accordingly, "PS2 game cheats" are more popular than the Wii....with "game cheats for the PS2" following close behind in 11th place..."wii problems" are more popular than the wii, too. And then there's the nintendo wii, trailing "wii problems," in 48th place.
Huh. No wonder "wii" comes up so often.
"Playstation2 game cheats" is 77th. - jtbauki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You just proved the point.
- SteveMax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No. Sony is losing ~300 dollars for each PS3 sold, while Nintendo is making a profit of around 50 dollars (the Wii is sold to the distributors for ~200 dollars, and costs ~160 dollars to be manufactured). So, selling PS3s that will stay on eBay forever is actually hurting Sony (only by selling the games that they make any money), and any Wii sold makes Nintendo some money. No matter what, this season Sony's console division will be in a great loss, while Nintendo will have profit. The absolute price means nothing to them, only the profit they make.
- gooch2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is a story?
More evidence of the Nintendo-fication of Digg
(btw I'm not a hater. I have a Wii and love it .. but jeez) - Doomhammer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Who cares about number of times searched?
Compare number of units sold or something, that might actually be an interesting statistic... - SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't see why everyone has written off the PS3. Hardware wise the PS3 has as much or more potential than the 360 and both the 360 and the PS3 are better hardware products than the Wii.
Wii's strong point is the fun element and the novelty, which I have t say is very attractive.
360 is established and is starting to show it's promise as a powerful games platform, despite a few hiccups and the dark specter of M$ looming.
PS3 is barely off the ground. This time last year everyone was all anti-climactic about the 360 yet now, only a year later, everyone is backing it as the killer console, and saying it pwns PS3 etc etc. I can't see into the future but I'm guessing in a year the PS3 will be battling tooth-and-claw with the 360 for dominance. What is more it has potential to run other Operating Systems, and once the full Cell acrhitecture is incoporated into a Linux distro for it it ought to make a nice package.
These 'PS3 is dead' articles are just knee-jerk crap. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You really are a clueless ***** moron. Adolescence isn't treating you well is it?
- MemoryDump, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wiihii !! (instead of Woohoo.. bah nevermind)
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Holy *****, you know people with PS3's!
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agreed, I'm sure people know it's pretty much impossible to get right now so I'm sure many who are interested in it aren't bothering to search.
- womfalcs7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ahh, it's because there are 3 times as much Wii's on the market as PS3's.
- jromz03, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I was thinking of that too.
Nintendo has to get really really busy and sell as many Wiis as they can.
Once Sony sorted out its problems and people started warming to the price then the real battle begins. Nintendo hopefully could've captured a large market (along with MS) such that Sony will be the one catching up this generation.
Then again there are a lot of things that could happen. A super mega AAA game from Sony could spark a huge demand, same with Wii or 360. Or maybe a slump is Wii sales in the future making it fall behind like the Gamecube.
There are too many variables, but at least Nintendo is trying its best to get a good head start - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is exactly why i dont come here anymore. Bunch of teenagers dig everything they like but honestly the whole front page is filled with fanboy articles that are complete garbage.
- gmark13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+110 Million Xbox 360's sold by January 1st 2007.
Not even close. We know who the winner is!!
DUH! - dark_helmet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2digg this down.
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So, after 5 articles hit the front page about how much more popular the Wii is then the PS3, is it fair to start burying them outright?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So, the popularity of something is now determined by search requests?
Come on Nintendo fanboys! You can do better than that. - dark_helmet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe its more than 3 times as popular because theres more than 3 times as many of them and it is 3 times cheeper
- mynameisdave02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In other news, cheap Malt Liquor more popular than Courvoisier.
- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Most gamers who want a system already know about the system and don't have to do google searches. Most people who don't know about the system do google searches on it.
It's that simple. The Wii is, quite frankly, more popular among people who don't know about the Wii than the PS3. This reminds me of the old google comparisons between Superman Returns and Pirates of the Carribean or Halo 2 versus Half-Life 2 or even Halo versus Half-Life. - bobbygeorgina, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Google Fight Agrees:

Something funny I thought I might add...when I clicked the link in the original post there was a PS3 ad on the screen, kinda funny I suppose. - aaaleman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3It all makes sense if you consider all the moms and non-gamers looking for info on the Wii. I suppose regular or hardcore gamers don't really do playstation or xbox searches on google or whatnot. Most people like, I suppose, visit IGN or Gamespot or 1up or whatever. Know what I mean?
- spencewah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://googlefight.com/index.php?lang=en_GB&word1=wii&word2=ps3
- knodi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2No one likes a over priced door stopper.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@DangerMouse9
Looks like I struck a nerve, well I guess the truth really does hurt. I'm sure you got the rich and the hard-core people who will buy one but I got news for ya..not everyone is rich and not everyone is going to buy one just because it's made by Sony.
just come to realization that the PS3 is losing, the Wii are selling like hot cakes and so is the Xbox360 thanks to gears of war...in another 8 months people aren't even going to bother buying a PS3 because the wow factor will be gone. - yuravian, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6erm, I'm not following you there, toshipaine. Care to elaborate?
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1WOW. ANOTHER hair splitting article 'proving' world domination for ther Wii.
LAME. -
