- BlackSheepx, on 10/12/2007, -8/+160If I had to pronounce this I'd just get a really excited look on my face then say "m."
- 08501337, on 10/12/2007, -11/+142it would be funny if we saw "09E xoqx" from microsoft and the "Esd" from sony.
- crawf061, on 10/12/2007, -21/+138you stopped too late

Oh, a "Wii sounds like Wee, which is childish slang for a penis" joke. How hilarious and original. - NiNJ4gamer, on 10/12/2007, -11/+87Seriously, this joke has been told in every single Wii-related story so far. It's old, and it isn't funny.
- aristotle1990, on 10/12/2007, -4/+74It's pronounced *click* *click* mmm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exclamation_mark#As_a_letter - Zikes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+65@tjordan90: nah, then it'd be "The Console Formerly Known as Revolution"
- odyss3y, on 10/12/2007, -3/+64sounds like a bad pr0n title
- tjordan90, on 10/12/2007, -4/+46Methinks that Nintendo has hired Prince to do their naming of products.
- zerovertex, on 10/12/2007, -8/+46Bang Bang Emm ?
- theGrue, on 10/12/2007, -5/+41Welcome to 2 months ago, I guess.
- YuRi756, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35wow Splitt3rxx, did you even bother to check your theory out or did you just take a guess?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+38Being a professional web developer, this is going to sound like a stupid question, but I'm having a brainfart at the moment:
You can't use exclamation points in a domain name, can you? If you can't, this story is complete bunk.
EDIT: After rereading the article, it doesn't say that those registered names were *domain* names, but just names, so I'm assuming trademarks. My bad. - architectzero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30Nintendo: Wii Bang Bang Em!
- goatrandy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Why is everyone modding this down? It happens to be the most informative, and accurate post in this entire thread. ;)
- umrgregg, on 10/12/2007, -8/+32I totally agree....
- inturnaround, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28Except it's not. It's XOBX.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20and its email client will be the : Ninteno iimiil
- theGrue, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Last I heard this was just a rumor.
If it isn't, they should pair up with dnL. - mortal-god, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24What if, in keeping with the wii name, it is pronounced "I'm" very similar to IM and could have many different connotations, like, "!!M, express who you are!"
- lane.montgomery, on 10/12/2007, -12/+27I know i'm being pendantic, but when you have a 180 degree rotation, you don't have to specify whether it was clockwise or counterclockwise (not counting screws and things like that, only 2 dimensional objects).
- jhunt, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Hey I don't know if you are aware but here on Digg there is a little "by Bara" text as the header to your comment, so it isn't really necessary to sign your posts!. Additionally, it even time stamps your post right after your name so you don't have to type that either!
Now that you're aware of some of the automatic features on Digg, you don't need to pull that Ryan Seacrest ***** ever again, you stupid *****. Enjoy! - FBMGriever, on 10/12/2007, -11/+25Y'know, at first, I was immediately skeptical of this... But then I remembered that Nintendo named their new console the Wii...
With that said, anything is possible. - blinks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15!!M is trademarked, although the reason is still speculation. From IGN: http://wii.ign.com/articles/713/713210p1.html
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Just get William Hung to do a commercial for it and you'll be set.
- jhunt, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18People who type like idiots (even sarcastically/ironically) make me sad.
- lunar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I see at the top that this content is under review. I'm not sure if that means the news of these trademarks is inaccurate, or the article's author saying that !!M is meant for the Instant Messenger service for the Wii.
But, this news is also posted at 1UP.com (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3151576) and if you go to the Japanese Trademark site (http://www.ipdl.ncipi.go.jp/homepg_e.ipdl), and search the Trademark database for "wiipointer" (for example), you'll see it was filed on 04/26/2006.
So, the fact that these trademarks have been applied for is true. Their intentions for Nintendo as a marketing tool for the Wii isn't confirmed yet. - domr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10(-;
żllam se umop ap!sdn !!M noh op - starsky51, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14"Actually it's worse...at least you can pronounce "Wii" without having to ask somebody how to."
I disagree. I'm sure there will be thousands of mums walking into Game stores this christmas asking for a Why.
I like the name !!m. Once you know that the console is called 'wee' it's pretty obvious how it's pronounced. Pain in the arse when you try to Google it though!!(m) - marse, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15close!
- SquisherX, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12Russell Peters already covered this. It will be pronounced *click* *click* M.
I want a click in my name. - UltraNurd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The entire thing is a clever Beatles reference:
Wii -> !!M -> Bang Bang Maxwell as in "Bang-bang, Maxwell's silver hammer/came down upon her head." - madeingermany, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I hope this messenger will not be compatible with any of the other messengers around ;)
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Pie solves everything.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well it was fun while it lasted. Until the fanboys showed up, modded all the good comments down and replaced them with lame, blatantly obvious Nintendo-ass kissing. You fanboys remind me of religious fanatics. Why are you so obsessed with this console?
Nintendo fanboys, you don't seem to understand that the joke is on you. - drigz, on 10/12/2007, -10/+13You know S looks more like a rotated S than 5?
- Psykus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9This is just speculation based on registered trademarks. Marked as inaccurate.
- decay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Russel Peters is the Indian comedian for all that dont know.
Just youtube him. - Mudhoney, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Are all of you making fun of the name just reading the title of this Digg and not reading the article? There is nothing official or even remotely backed up by evidence here. Heck we don't even know if the Wii Instant messaging service is real yet.
So this is a rumor about the name of a rumored feature in an unreleased product. Why do people digg this crap?
I'm just as excited as anyone else about Wii but it's crap like this that causes issues. I'm tired of hearing people that are interested in Wii say "I heard it has virtual reality built in!". It's articles like this that help start these stupid rumors. I can't believe people are digging this. - frositay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Or rather. Nintendo Wiimail :P.
- M4v3R, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Mmm. Pie.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This thread is strange. A lot of people seem to have written quite valid points yet been dugg down because some of those points might have been negative. I'm still not a fan of the name, nor am I a fan of !!M, but just because someone doesn't like it doesn't mean they're 'wrong' to not like it.
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Hey jhunt, I do this for every single forum and site I go to. Someone always becomes the bitchy douchebag that for some reason is absolutely annoyed by this and provides a witty comment to try and put me down. My response to this? Simple:
Bara out - jedi0utkast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Did you have an accident?
Someone please show him a news paper so he realizes that a few months have pass.
this is really, really sad. :( - KYDS3K, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4i believe the correct pronunciation is "chik chik emm" . . .
(if you know your music, that is . . .) - appleseed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My guess is that it will be pronounced "exclaim"
didn't really see that suggestion posted, but it could have been already in one of the below threshold comments. - Mudhoney, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Exactly, I'm a Wii fan and I'm certainly not digging this. It's just a single paragraph without sources or evidence.
- DragonQuester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3if you look on the bottom of the page it says: Posted in Rumors & Speculation.

So how can you besure? for me it looks like 180 degrees clockwise........ duh.......
On a sidenote? You wouldn't be a fan of the captain obvious comicbooks, would you? - deacont23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh noes!
