- Seidoger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34Yeah, just pop in the Mac OS X install CD and click install.
- gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33Holy *****, you troll.
He did a pretty good job with what he had.
I'm just hoping Java support comes soon. I want VNC... that would be really damned useful. I'd love to use VNC from my Wii to connect to my home computer. - mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Hahah, good luck. Now that the wii allows us to check digg, I don't see this slowing down. I don't get people like you, if you're so fed up with the Wii just ***** ignore it.
Regarding the description, this made me laugh, "myspace works great," yay it still looks like *****. - f3l1x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16shows how much you know... Thats part of the test silly. it passes fine.
- mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13It took forever to download because everyone is hammering nintendo to try and get it as well, I had to restart the download at least twice.
- kerrle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Apparently you didn't actually read the Acid2 Test's site, where it clearly says this is in fact part of the test, and Opera (and so the Wii) get it right.
http://www.webstandards.org/action/acid2/ - trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I've experience a few problems with the browser but that's to be expected. I am mostly surprise by how well it works, it was a great decision on Nintendo's part to go with an actual web browser instead of trying to create their own *cough* Sony *cough*. Opera sounds like they are really willing to work with Nintendo so the end product should be awesome. Releasing this trail version will hopefully help our opinions to stand out more as well.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Ok, first off, learn to use the 'reply' button.
The fact is that it doesn't really matter that the Wii does what many other things have done before, people are digging it, therefore they are interested in it.
And, to be honest, the Wii is the first gaming console to support flash and actually posess a control method that works with the web. Try navigating websites with your non QWERTY cell-phone or your PSP. Just try.
Digg is a social website, and the relevancy of stories is determined by the users. There's not an editor with Nintendo stock pushing this stuff to the front page. It's obvious that people are excited about the Opera browser on the Wii and the possibilities it opens up for future homebrew games on the Wii.
And, we've heard all the graphics stuff before. Some of us believe that superior gameplay makes a better game, not jaw-dropping graphics.
Perhaps you should open your eyes up a little more and see what the Wii is truly capable of. True, it'll never render realistic sweat dripping from Shaq's brow, but it plays a kick-ass game of tennis. - craterburnsu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8They work great for me, even fullscreen/zoomed. I do wish however you could make the Forward/back/favorites bar place hide so it was a REAL full screen.
- f3l1x, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Mozilla is part of most agent strings. Don't be surprised.
(man people are really showing thier age recently)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla#Mozilla_codebase - blankartist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It took forever to download. Why I don't know why because my laptop (which is a few feet away from the Wii) downloads just fine from the same WiFi router.
Web pages load fast however. While the Wiimote is the best console solution for couch surfing, it's still too cumbersome for serious users. I'm seeing a Wiiboard and Wiimouse in my crystal ball. - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6if you don't like the articles, don't read them. It's honestly as easy as that. Nobody is forcing you to read Wii-related articles. Some of us find these things interesting.

I cant speak for everyone here but I'm just pissy today. Tomorrow i'll be *****' teddy bears and rainbows. - Skettalee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I have a big question that I didn't see anyone answer yet.
I have an SD old school 27" TV. Will the web still look good with a clear type font that I can read using my tv? - Whaines, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Inaccurate because myspace never works great :P
- craterburnsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've been watching episodes of Reboot on Youtube all day long from my Wii. So far i've only had 1 video mess up, and the Wii froze off that, not sure why.
- tapo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Apple *does* control where Quicktime runs, as they make the player, the .MOV format, the framework, and the browser plugin.
Maybe if you wanted to play H.264, MPEG-4, or MPEG-1 video Apple wouldn't need to get involved, but it's still a significant amount of work. - rbenech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4no....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Does anyone know why pandora does not work?
- emir7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The no Java support was a bit of a buzzkill, but otherwise it's a pretty stable system. Still, there's almost no need for me to use it when I have a fully operational desktop about 5 feet away from my Wii. At most, I can impress some passersby, but typing with a Wii controller is more trouble than it's worth. I'm glad they did a 6 month trial though, because it's fun to try, I'd just never pay for it.
I'm more impressed with the weather channel than anything. When I first heard about it, it seemed like the most pointless addition you could bring to the system. It provides a very stylish outlook on weather, though, especially the globe shot. Again, something I don't think I'll ever need, but I can appreciate it in the sense that it seemed stupid at first and now it has my respect, to a certain extent. - tjkombo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I didn't think it would be that good, but I was actually using it a lot today, watching youtube at fullscreen is very intriguing. It works great with my gmail too, I like it a lot. hmm I am hoping for an easy to use custom RSS reader... that would be very cool.

Or hey... educate yourself and read the whole article. - heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you doubt it, point your Wii browser to:
http://www.cyscape.com/showbrow.aspx?bhcp=1
That's how I came up with all that info. The site will tell you basically all you want to know about your browser - speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Same here. The text input just closes after a second :(
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@harmonic: "Who gave you that High Horse?"
He's a known troll. Look at his name FFS, "FinalSolution"? Come on. The guy gets his rocks off by coming to Digg and "insulting" nerds. Which is ironic since he's one himself.
Just click on the blue circle to the right of his name to block him. Problem solved. - scratched, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not without the zoom.
I have a 25" SDTV and most text is barely readable in standard view. The Wii browser allows you to zoom in on a page to make it easier to view (even though you can only zoom to one level, you have no choice in how far you can zoom)
The Wii browser also has the ability to go into a mobile-like mode where if the site you're on has been designed well, will degrade quite nicely. Sites like Wikipedia and Slashdot work pretty well in this mode, but some other sites are unusable in this mode.
There are still a lot of kinks to work out, but overall it's not too bad for SDTV owners. I find I can use it for extended periods of time without becoming too annoyed with it. - icoms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2msn messenger from the wii:
meebo didnt work: couldnt type login and pass
web messenger from msn, didnt work: pop up detection
the only one who worked fine was http://www.messengerfx.com - Zufoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2UK Wii shows 1024 x 600, 1024 x 500 WidthAvail/HeightAvail.
- TheAbsintheHare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Also, the browser has a built in RSS reader... Just type in the address of a feed.
- DrGonzo1184, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hmmm, my Firefox 2.0.0.1 does not pass it...
- Bossman1086, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's weird. Earlier this morning, when I downloaded it around 3 am, youtube worked fine but YouTube hasn't worked at all for the rest of the day today. It says Javascript is disabled or I don't have the latest flash version. Weird. I wish Pandora worked, too. I want music. :(
- theratdotus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wish you could add an sd card to cache
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I ran a browser test with the Wii at:
http://www.cyscape.com/showbrow.aspx?bhcp=1
That's how I came up with all that info. - pabloD, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4"Bunch of savages in this place."
- Aleman360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My major gripe with it is that it takes forever to load a page. For example, the YouTube home page takes up to about 10 seconds on my Wii but is instantaneous on my laptop using the same wireless connection.
- GirSaysDoom13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2just downloaded it, seems pretty cool, but quite buggy still though
i'd like to point out gmail works great, and linerider doesn't work at all
would be great if apple let quicktime run on wii - coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Actually, Lumiras, my PS3 accepts a keyboard and mouse just fine. Very easy to control.
Not saying the Wii browser isn't worth the news, I have no problem with it, but it's not the best way to control web browsing involving consoles. - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3My name is Shigeru Miyamoto and this, is the longest day of my life.
*cue 24 theme tune* - blakespot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"It's funny how people get excited about the prospect of better resolutions, even though Wii is supposed to be all about the gameplay, not graphics. Also, according to Wii fans on Digg, nobody has a HD set anyway so HD resolutions shouldn't matter anyway."
Well, all things being equal, higher res gfx = better. And I have my wii hooked to a HD set. Hell, I've been playing my N64 on said HD set for a year:
http://pix.blakespot.com/view/computers/plasma_tv/IMG_0467.JPG.html - f3l1x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The page is rendered at that res. Not the screen.
- blakespot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who says its 1024x500 resolution? Links?
- TheAbsintheHare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Also, I just figured out that you can scroll up and down much faster if you point the wiimote so the Hand Cursor is on the black edge of the screen and press the direction you want to scroll on the Directional Pad. Pressing left or right on the Directional pad while the cursor is offscreen will tab select links on the page.
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Two words: MTU value.
Really. Check your router's value and make sure your Wii has the same.
I don't know what it does either, but it works. - 12340987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, if it can put that resolution out when you're browsing, why not in games? Maybe Nintendo will surprise us.
- saisumimen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@brooklynboy
There is a filter option so you can only view the sections you want. Don't want any more gaming news? Filter it out completely.
But whining like a little bitch? We can do without. - twitsami, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2dont forget your computer is also caching everything, not sure if the wii is doing that.
- wetard57, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i'm on the Wii right now with a 27inch sdtv cant read comments without 1 zoom does have auto type so makes it faster
- TheTjalian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dugg for being a gbatemper

What is Digg?
The Digg Toolbar for Firefox lets you Digg, submit content, and keep track of Digg even when you're not on the Digg site. Download the official
